Brian T. Carpenter
Moriah, N.Y. —
Brian T. Carpenter (a.k.a. QBan), 16, of Moriah, N.Y., was taken from
our loving arms too soon on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005.
Brian was born in
Middlebury, Vt., on March 12, 1989. Brian is the cherished son of Tom E.
and Luci C. Carpenter and much loved brother of Jackie E. Carpenter.
Brian was a junior
honor student at Moriah Central School. He was a member of the National
Honor Society, Student Council, varsity basketball and golf teams. Brian
was known for his quick wit, and his never-ending ability to make others
laugh. Brian worked hard at everything he did and was always quick to
lend a hand to others. Brian was an avid ice fisherman and NY Giants
fan. He had a love for cars, basketball and music. More than anything
else, he loved spending time with his mom, dad, sister and two dogs (Chica
and Cassie).
Brian is survived
by his loving parents; and beloved sister, Jackie; maternal grandmother,
Isabel V. Castillo; paternal grandparents, Betty Ann and Bob Goyette;
and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will
be held at Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y., Thursday, Sept. 1,
2005 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Graveside service
will be held Friday, Sept. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s and Paul's
Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.
In lieu, of
flowers donations may be made to MCS-Brian T. Carpenter Memorial
Scholarship Fund, Moriah Central School, Moriah, N.Y.
Norman E. Mero
Willsboro, N.Y.
— Norman E. "Jim" Mero, 72, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31,
2005, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y., after a short illness.
He was born May
25, 1933, in Willsboro, N.Y., the son of Donald (Busco) and
"Tootsie" Mero.
He is survived by
his wife, Barbara LaVarnway Mero, whom he married on Nov. 8, 1952; a son
and his wife, John and Jill of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa
Mero and her companion Barry Hamilton of Westport, N.Y.; a
daughter-in-law, Shelly Mero of Willsboro; a brother, Donald
"Sonny" Mero Jr. of Willsboro; a sister, Etta Huddleston of
Enfield, Conn.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Beck of Santa Cruz, Calif.,
Catherine Lavarnway of Elmira, N.Y., Esther Mero of Connecticut;
brothers-in-law, John and Mary Lavarnway Wasilla, Ark., William
Lavarnway of Concord, N.C., Roger Avery of Methuen, Mass.; and several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Mero who died
March 9, 2005; a sister, Lorraine Mero Avery; and two brothers, Raymond
and Robert Mero.
Jim served in the
Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2072,
Keeseville, Moose Lodge 2390, Plattsburgh, Veterans of Foreign War 1505,
Keeseville, Knights of Columbus, Willsboro, and a life member of the
Willsboro Fire Department. Jim was retired from the Town of Willsboro
and owned and operated a trucking business.
Calling hours will
be held at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro, Saturday, Sept. 3,
2005, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A memorial service
will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial following in
Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to the Willsboro Fire
Department.
Harold Valentine
Lewis — Harold
"Hoddie" Valentine, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the
Elizabethtown Community Hospital. He was born April 5, 1926, in Lake
Placid, N.Y., the son of Albert and Bertha, (Sawyer) Valentine.
Harold served in
the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II, and as the highway
superintendent for the Town of Lewis for many years, and a member of the
Lewis Fire Department. He was a loving man who was devoted to his wife,
family and friends. He enjoyed visiting, telling stories and making
people laugh. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by
one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Sonja Valentine of Tamarac,
Fla.; a daughter, Sally Burdo of Elizabethtown; one brother and
sister-in-law, Don and Eileen Valentine of Lake Placid; five
grandchildren and their spouses, Caine and Kellie Valentine of Moriah,
Stephen and Arin Burdo of Lewis, Korin Burdo of Elizabethtown, April
Burdo of Mineville, Heather and Brad Moulton of Lewis; close friends,
Gary and Diana Cox of Lewis; and nine great-grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his wife, Raeburn; a half brother, Claude Aubin; and a
half sister, Florence Shene.
Calling hours will
be held Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in
Elizabethtown.
A graveside burial
service will be conducted by Pastor Dick Hoff at the Lewis Cemetery
Friday at 10 a.m.
Donations in his
memory may be made to the Lewis Fire Department, Lewis, NY 12950.
ERNEST J. WOOD
of Lake Street in Tupper Lake died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the
Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Calling hours will
be held at the Richer Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral Mass at
St. Alphonsus Church will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005.
Burial in the Parish Cemetery will follow.
DANIEL E. BUCKLEY,
69, died on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy.
Born in Silver
Lake (Clinton County), N.Y., on June 10, 1937, he was the son of the
late Daniel and Della Hanlon Buckley.
Funeral service
will be on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013
Broadway in Watervliet and at 9 a.m. at St. Brigid’s Church, Corner of
Forth Avenue and Seventh Street in Watervliet. Relatives and friends are
invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
