Anne E. Viens

ROCHESTER — Anne E. Viens passed away on Aug. 20, 2005, in Rochester, N.Y.

She is survived by her son, Carleton Viens of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; her daughter, Muriel (Wilfred) Herzog; grandchildren, Donna (Daniel) Groth and Stephen (Anne) Herzog; and great-grandchildren, Monica and Douglas Herzog.

A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Rita’s Church, 1008 Maple Drive, Webster, N.Y. Friends may attend her graveside service on Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rouses Point, N.Y. Masses may be offered in her name.

Arrangements are with the Anthony Funeral Cremation Chapels.

Elaine T. Gumlaw

Altona — Mrs. Elaine T. Gumlaw, 57, of the Rand Hill Road, Altona passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born in Norwich, Conn., on April 6, 1948, the daughter of Chester and Clara (Gerbitz) Geer.

Elaine enjoyed water color painting and braiding rugs.

She was employed at CVPH Medical Center at the time of her death.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Clara Geer; and a brother, George Geer.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Gumlaw of Altona; a son, David L. Borron and his wife Lillianna of Amarillo, Texas; a granddaughter, Andrea; a sister, Nancy Depres and her husband Claude of Jewitt City, Conn.; a cousin, Judith Gill of Baltic, Conn.; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Misiaszek, Rose Gumlaw, Virginia Gamache, Dorothy Gumlaw, Ruth and Kenneth Bombard, Sherry Gumlaw, Shirley and Wayne Corbiere, Helen and James Reynolds, George and Jeannette Gumlaw, David and Robin Gumlaw and Harold and Jodi Gumlaw; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Additional calling will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jewitt City Leffler Funeral Home, 30 North Main Street, Jewitt City, CT 06351.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Jewitt City. Interment will follow at the Pachaug Cemetery, Jewitt City, Conn.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the American Red Cross.

Dorothy J. Bruso

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Dorothy J. Bruso, 86, of the Irish Settlement Road, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Alder Bend, N.Y., on July 31, 1919, the daughter of Newell and Agnes (Brooks) Rabideau.

Dorothy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies Home Bureau and St. Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville.

She was predeceased by her parents, Newell and Agnes Rabideau; five sisters and two brothers.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Harley Bruso of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Jeannette LaBarr and her husband Robert of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Roy Rabideau of Morrisonville; three grandchildren, Susan Filion of Redford, Lisa Holmes and her husband Donald of Cape Coral, Fla., Amy Lee and her husband Ronald of Carlsbad, N.M.,; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Elliott, pastor of St. Alexander’s Church officiating. Entombment will be at Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Daniel D. Brand, 56, of Burke died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Monday, Aug. 22, 2005.

He was born in Malone, N.Y., on July 11, 1949, the son of Dwight and Marie (Spinner) Brand.

Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Demo of St. Patrick's Church officiating. Burial will take place at North Burke Cemetery, Burke.

Joseph H. Lafountain, 72, of Steams Apartments died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Nov. 7, 1932, the son of Frederick and Bessie (Bouvia) Lafountain.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
