William E. Hock
PLATTSBURGH —
William E. Hock, 97, of Oak Street, Plattsburgh, died Monday, Aug. 15,
2005, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.
He was born in
Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 26, 1908, the son of Joseph and Teresa (Ehrhardt)
Hock.
Mr. Hock was a
switchboard and elevator operator for River House Apartment Buildings in
New York City for 26 years retiring in 1969 moving to Plattsburgh at
that time.
He was a member of
St. John’s Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the Holy Name
Society in Queens, N.Y.
Survivors include
his wife, the former Donna Dame of Plattsburgh; several nieces,
including Terry and Jerry Hall of Bethpage, Long Island, and Madelaine
Park of Walnut Creek, Calif.; several nephews, including Edward Hock Jr.
of Payson, Ariz., and George Hock Jr. of Long Island; his mother-in-law,
Mildred Dame of Plattsburgh; seven sisters-in-law, Cheryl Dame, Sonia
Dame, Ernestine Edwards, Christine Dame and Robin Graham, all of
Plattsburgh, Dana LaFountain of Chazy and Mrs. Harold (Celeste) Parker
of Peru; and one brother-in-law, John Dame of Plattsburgh.
He was predeceased
by his first wife, Mary R. Hock; two brothers, Edward Hock and George
Hock Sr.; one sister, Catherine Bettinger of Bethpage, Long Island; and
one sister-in-law, Laura Hock.
Calling hours will
be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker
Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church in
Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Memorial donations
may be made to the Clinton County Nursing Home, Activities Program.
Henry A. Williams
PLATTSBURGH —
Henry A. Williams, 78, of Washington Place, Cliff Haven, died Friday,
Aug. 12, 2005, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.
He was born in
Glens Falls, N.Y., on Nov. 13, 1926, the son of Ralph E. and Esther
(Williams) Williams.
Mr. Williams
attended the Practice School of Plattsburgh State Normal School (Campus
School), class of 1940, and was a member of the Plattsburgh High School’s
class of 1944. He graduated from Glens Falls High School and served in
the U.S.
Navy during World
War II. In January of 1950, he graduated from Colgate University. He
joined Socony-Vacuum Oil Company in the fall of 1951. At the time of his
retirement in 1988, Mr. Williams was the territory manager for Mobil Oil
Corporation in Northern New York and Vermont.
He is survived by
his wife of 55 years, the former Patricia A. Lawson of Plattsburgh; five
children, Daniel R. and Brenda Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas,
Camille W. LaChat of Colorado Springs, Colo., James P. and Cynthia
Williams of Cumberland Head, Scott R. Williams and Marie Szpila of
Dannemora and Walter L. and Amanda Williams of Fairfax Station, Va.; 11
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will
be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service
will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in
Plattsburgh. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at a later
date in Glens Falls Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North
Country and the Interfaith Food Shelf.

Margaret B. Kaska
Plattsburgh —
Margaret B. Kaska, 91, of Plattsburgh, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at the
CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in
Standish on Feb. 23, 1914, the daughter Joseph and Margaret (LaDuke)
Bourey.
She graduated from
St. John’s High School and Plattsburgh Normal School. She taught for
33 years at Lyon Mountain School until her retirement.
She was a member
of St. Peter’s Church and the Altar Rosary Society, the Court Our Lady
of the Snows Catholic Daughters of America and was grand regent for 8
years, past choir director at St. Bernard’s Church, the Lyon Mountain
American Legion Auxiliary and was a past president of the Teachers
Supervisory District Association.
She is survived by
a son and daughter-in-law, John Joseph and Nancy Kaska of Lyon Mountain;
a brother, Arthur Bourey of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Helen Bourey of
Plattsburgh and Elaine Norwalk of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law,
Mary Bourey of Lyon Mountain; a brother-in-law, Floyd Robinson of Moriah;
a grandson, Jesse Kaska; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, John
Kaska, whom she married in 1936, died in 1969. Two brothers, Leo and
Francis Bourey; and a sister, Agnes Robinson died earlier.
Calling hours will
be held on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown
Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.
Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Lyon Mountain with
a reception to follow at the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion.
Donald
F. Layman Sr.,
88, of Cascade Court, Englewood, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at
the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington.
He was born in
Dannemora on March 26, 1917, the son of Frank and Ida (McCorry) Layman.
Arrangements are
incomplete with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
