Ernie Peryea
Plattsburgh —
Ernie Peryea, 86, of LaBarre Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday,
Aug. 11, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with his family
by his side. He was born in Altona, N.Y., on Nov. 18, 1918, the son of
Eugene and Eva (Recore) Peryea.
Ernie was a
veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from
the Operating Engineers Local 106. Ernie retired from the Central
Heating Plant at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 1980 after 20 years of
service.
He was head of
security at Airborne Park Speedway. Ernie was a Life Member of the
American Legion Post 20. He was a member of District 3 Fire Department
for 31 years and had served on the Board of Directors of the Clinton
County Fair for 25 years. Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping,
traveling, auto racing, square dancing, but most importantly, spending
time with his family. He was a member of St. John's Church.
Ernie was
predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Eva Peryea; two brothers, Guy
Peryea and Roy Peryea; his brothers-in-law, Carl Franklin and Gerald
Franklin; and a sister-in-law, Helen Jarvis.
He is survived
by his wife, Grace E. (Franklin) Peryea of Plattsburgh. They were
married May 7, 1949, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in
Churubusco. Ernie is also survived by a son, Robert J. Peryea and his
wife Audrey of Plattsburgh; his sisters, Gladys Trudo of Syracuse, N.Y.,
and Frances Oliver of West Chazy; two grandchildren, Jason Peryea and
his companion Jenn Trammel of Plattsburgh and Tricia Bruce and her
husband Chris of Plattsburgh; a great-grandchild, Caden Bruce of
Plattsburgh; Ernie's extended families: the Munson, Trudo, Franklin,
Jarvis and Peryea families; several nieces and nephews also survive him.
At Ernie's
request, there will be no calling hours.
Following
cremation, a memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at
10 a.m. from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.
Interment will
follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mary J. Cutting
Moriah — Mary
J. Cutting, 58. After a long journey, Mary’s friend Jesus beckoned her
home to rest. Surrounded by her companion Bill, her loving family,
Pastor Doug and her close friend Tom, Mary went home to her Lord and
Savior on Aug. 10, 2005.
Mary was born
in Moriah, N.Y., on March 25, 1947, the daughter of the late Claude and
Anna (Bezon) Cutting.
She retired
from International Paper Co., Ticonderoga, N.Y., with 33 years of
service, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mary also
worked at Porters Mill, Crown Point.
She is survived
by her two sons and their families, Broderick and Katrina Cutting and
their children, Mathew and Josh of Glenville, N.Y., and Jeffrey and
Natalie Cutting and Dakotah of Schroon Lake, N.Y.; three sisters, Stella
and Frank Blaise of Port Henry, Anne and John Peterson of Ticonderoga
and Martha and George Denton of Hague; her half sister, Jean Wykes of
Port Henry; and her companion, Bill Johnson.
Beside her
parents, Claude and Anna Cutting, Mary was predeceased by her brother,
John Cutting.
There will be
no calling hours.
A celebration
of her life will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 4 p.m. at the Crown Point
Bible Chapel, Crown Point, N.Y.
Following the
service, there will be a reception at the Crown Point Senior Citizens
Center, Crown Point, N.Y.

Howard Drake
Albany and
AuSable Forks — Howard Drake, 71, of Second Avenue, Albany, N.Y., died
Aug. 10, 2005, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., after
battling cancer for several years.
He was born
Nov. 19, 1933, in Redford, N.Y., to Frederick and Gladys (Wemette)
Drake.
Howard worked
for many years at the J&J Rogers Paper Mill in AuSable Forks. He was
also a painter, handyman and loved doing lawn care.
He is survived
by one sister, Edith Beck, of Albany; and one sister-in-law, Joan Drake
of AuSable Forks. There are several nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Gladys Drake; two brothers and
one sister, Ernest Drake, Ruth (Peggy) Pelkey and Julia Amsdem; and
three brothers-in-law, Everette Amsdem, Lee Beek and Arther (Sonny)
Pelkey.
Calling hours
will be held Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague
Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will
follow at the Fairview Cemetery in AuSable Forks.
Memorials may
be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service.
The Zaumetzer-Sprague
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Crystal Mae Dalton
Plattsburgh —
Shortly after celebrating her 53rd birthday with family, friends and a
hot fudge sundae with extra peanuts, Crystal Mae Dalton (formerly Susan
Battaglini) passed on after months of bravely battling dermatomytositis,
a rare auto-immune disease.
She lovingly
remains in the hearts and memories of her husband, Glenn Dalton; her
mother, Joyce Battaglini; her sisters, Aimee Battaglini and Gail
Schubert; her four children, Gretchen O'Connell, Rael, Shaile and Michio
Cohen; and of course her favorite cat, Otie.
She will be
greatly missed.

Alice A. Hoffman,
81, of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home and formerly of 48 State St., died
Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at that facility.
She was born Feb.
15, 1924, in Chateaugay, N.Y., the daughter of Fred and Mary (Barr)
Allen.
There will be no
calling hours.
Committal will be
private and at the convenience of the family in Notre Dame Cemetery.
