Margaret L. "Peg" Buckley

Keeseville — Margaret L. "Peg" Buckley, 94, of North AuSable Street, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Black Brook, June 26, 1911, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (McCormick) Buckley.

Peg was a waitress for many years at the Cumberland Hotel and the Witherell Hotel, both of Plattsburgh and AuSable Chasm.

She enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Survivors include two sisters, Nora C. Farrell of Plattsburgh and M. Eileen Buckley of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Patrick, Emmette, Roderick "Rod", Edgar and Francis; one sister, Helen Weir; and aunts; uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Katherine Elisabeth Rock

Plattsburgh — Katherine Elisabeth McCadden Rock, 94, formerly of Cumberland Head and Court Street, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 5, 1910, the daughter of Francis R. and Grace (Beaulieu) McCadden.

She was raised by grandparents, Frank and Vinia McCadden and her aunt Elisabeth. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1929 and St. John’s Business School in 1931. She was employed as a secretary at Plattsburgh Dairy for 14 years.

She married Roderick J. Rock on Nov. 23, 1936, at St. John’s Church. They operated Mr. Rock’s family farm on Cumberland Head for over 50 years. Mr. Rock died in 1997.

She is survived by a brother, Francis "Frank" P. McCadden of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Gabrielle Offutt of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a nephew, Clevice Roderick Fesette; and nieces Madelyn Parker, Barbara Kemp and Sandy Greer.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh.

Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Habitat for Humanity.

Velma J. Young

Keeseville — Velma J. Young, 78, of Jackson Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Keeseville, April 18, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Abare) Blaise.

Velma was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Catholic Community of Keeseville. She was also a member of the Keeseville Senior Citizens Club and the AuSable Valley Drop In Center.

She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing bingo and square dancing with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Clarence Young of Keeseville, whom she married Jan. 17, 1946, at St. John’s Church in Keeseville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen "Kathy" and John Bresett and Cheryl and Kevin Pray, all of Keeseville; seven grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Michael Boynton of Keeseville, Timothy and Aubrey Bresett of Keeseville, Christopher Bresett and companion Alexis Sanders of Plattsburgh, Scott and Kelly Bresett of Keeseville, Keith and Katie Pray of Flushing, Todd and Janine Pray of Peru and Matthew Pray of Keeseville; one great-grandson, Patrick Boynton; one brother, Roland. A. Blaise of Keeseville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and Paul Perrotte and Shirley and Ronald Stanford, all of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sandra (Gladu) Young; one brother, Wilfred Blaise; and one sister, Lorraine Bennage.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Masses or the charity of one’s choice.

Elwyn J. "Red" Duprey

Chazy — Mr. Elwyn J. "Red" Duprey, 72, of the Ridge Road, Chazy, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home. He was born in Chazy, N.Y., on April 14, 1933, the son of Reginald and Helen (Ginett) Duprey.

Red was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Korea. He had worked at G&G Tire Company and later he went to work at Miner Institute, retiring in 1992. He was a member of and past commander of the American Legion Post 769, Chazy, and the Great Chazy River Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 1418. Red was an avid reader; he loved history and enjoyed a good political discussion. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.

Red was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Helen Duprey.

He is survived by three sisters, Joyce Testa and her husband Salvatore of Hamden, Conn., Susan Turon and her husband Anthony of North Syracuse, N.Y., and Carol Hamilton of Ottawa, Ontario; two brothers, Gerard Duprey and his wife Geraldine of Plattsburgh and Francis "Roger" Duprey and his wife Gloria of Spring Hills, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church, Chazy. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 769, Chazy.

Members of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars are asked to meet Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for services.

Richard J. Decker Jr., 35, of 101 Cascade Road., Lake Placid, N.Y., died suddenly Aug. 10, 2005 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

He was born in Lake Placid on Oct. 19, 1969, the son of the late Richard J. Decker Sr. and Rena (McLean) Decker.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home. Pastor Derek Spain, pastor of the Lake Placid Baptist Church, will officiate. Cremation will follow. Burial will be at the North Elba Cemetery at a later date.
