June A. Tellstone

GLENS FALLS — June A. Tellstone, 87, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Stanton Nursing Home in Glens Falls. June was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, to the late Louis Wells and Daisy Bezanson Wells but was raised by her grandparents in Vermont. In 1940 she married Victor Tellstone. They had 50 wonderful years together until his death in December 1990.

For several years, June had a successful Stanley Home Products business. She was jewelry department manager at Kings Department store for nine years and then office manager at the Senior Citizens Council for 11 years. She was very active as a volunteer for RSVP. June liked bowling, knitting, cooking and crafts. She belonged to the Senior Citizens Club in Schuyler Falls and the Golden Age Club in Plattsburgh.

She is survived by two children: Karen Tellstone McKay and her husband Fred Fischer of Florida and Rand Tellstone and his wife Pat of Glens Falls, N.Y. In addition, she has five grandchildren: Sara McKay of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; Kimberly McKay Luke of Scotia, N.Y.; Jason Tellstone and his wife Bonnie of Fort Edwards, N.Y.; Robyn Tellstone of Glens Falls, N.Y. and Christina Tellstone Phillipp of California plus seven great-grandchildren: Jamie Luke, Brittany and Cody Boomhower, Crystal, Amber and Skyler Phillipp and Brook-Lynn Tellstone; one nephew, Gary Wells and his wife Carol of Massachusetts and two very close friends, Donald and Marliyn Velie and their children, Donald, Jr., Robert and David of Saranac. She was predeceased by two brothers: Donald Wells and Lee Wells. June requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation should be made in her memory to the Salvation Army or the Senior Citizens Council in Plattsburgh.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral service will be held 1 1p.m. Tuesday from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Minarva Thompson

PLATTSBURGH — Minarva (Aubin) Thompson, 87, formerly of AuSable Forks, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in AuSable Forks on March 21, 1918, the daughter of George H. and Ella M. (Call) Aubin; Ella later married Wilfred Bola.

Minarva graduated from AuSable Forks High School in 1935 and from business college in 1936. She worked at P.F. Collier Corp. in Albany until 1941 when her husband wanted to move to AuSable Forks. From that time she was a stay-at-home mom until 1960, when she accepted employment at the J&J Rogers Co., and was there until they closed in 1971. She then went to work for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Keeseville and retired from there in 1983.

After retiring, Minarva did a lot of volunteer work at the Holy Name lunch program, Holy Name bingo, and was a driver for RSVP and especially liked to crochet.

Minarva married William J. Thompson from Rennselaer on Aug. 20, 1938, at St. Theresa’s Church on New Scotland Avenue in Albany.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Laluz of Fallbrook, Calif., Marcia and Jerry Carron of Pattersonville, N.Y., and Nancy and Bruce L’hommedieu of Morrisonville; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James and Grace Aubin of Wilmington, and Adrian Aubin of Ohio.

She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Thompson; oldest son Bernard I.; youngest son William G. Thompson; mother Ella Aubin Bola; brother Vernon Aubin; and great-grandson Ashley Thompson.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association and American Lung Association.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in AuSable Forks. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Florence Marie Robare

PERU — On Aug. 5, 2005, Florence Marie Robare quietly passed away at the CVPH Medical Center, in the presence of her loving family.

Flo was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 31, 1932. She relocated to the North Country from Long Island, N.Y., in 1970.

On Aug. 3, 1974, she married Donald H. Robare; they made their home in Peru.

In addition to her husband of 31 years, she is survived by her five children, Sharon M. Martucci and husband Joseph, Anita L. Elkins and husband Mark, Rose A. Robishaw and husband Bob of Lebanon, N.H., son Frank A. Garcia and fiancée Tonya Goucher of Peru. Also, her eldest daughter Lynn Miller of Plattsburgh.

Her six stepchildren included, Dwight Robare of Plattsburgh, Carolyn Brothers and husband Marshall, and Laurel Allen and husband Terry of Peru. Suzanne Fogarite and husband Jim of Altamont, N.Y., Rose Lemieux and husband Tony of Newport, Vt., Glen Robare and wife Terri of Washington State. A sister Cecelia Weiss of New York. 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Through her giving nature and generous heart she shared selflessly with others: volunteering with the CVPH Medical Center, the Salvation Army (most notably through her work during the refugee crisis) and at Vale Haven Home for Adults in Peru.

Flo was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all she loved. She especially loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Her favorite pastimes included bingo, the New York Yankees, Elvis Presley, crocheting, bowling, "Jeopardy!," "Wheel of Fortune," and most of all special times with her family.

In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, we ask everyone who knew and loved Flo to honor her in their own special way, perhaps by offering random acts of kindness as she did.
