Ellouise Betters
WILMINGTON —
Ellouise Betters, 91, died on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Adirondack
Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
She was born May
2, 1914, in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Belle
Brown Hagene.
She was a member
of the Pals Club in Wilmington, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the
Whiteface United Methodist Church in Wilmington and a devoted housewife,
mother and grandmother.
She is survived by
two daughters and one son and daughter-in-law, Anna Marie Betters of
Wilmington, Mary Saltmarsh of Wilmington, and Federick W. and Deborah
Betters of Lake Placid; five grandchildren, Michelle Betters of Upper
Jay, Jennifer Betters of Texas, Tim Saltmarsh of Wilmington, Samantha
Betters of Lake Placid and David Saltmarsh of Bronx; one brother, Fred
Hagene of California; two sisters-in-law, Alice Betters of Lake Placid
and Edna Bombard of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Milton Betters, and two brothers, Frank and
William Hagene.
Graveside services
will be Aug. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington.
Memorial donations
may be made to the High Peaks Hospice, Wilmington Volunteer Fire and
Rescue Squad and E. Cooper Memorial Library for the Children’s Corner.
A reception at the
Holiday Lodge in Wilmington will follow the graveside service.

Edward R. Lakers
MORRISONVILLE —
Edward R. Lakers, 71, of Banker Road passed away on Sunday, July 31,
2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.He was born in Irwin, Iowa,
on Oct. 5, 1933, son of Edward M. and Hilda (Martens) Lakers.
Edward loved
motorcycle rides, camping and snowmobiling. He enjoyed volunteering for
St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville and St. Joseph’s Church in
Treadwells Mill.
Edward was a
veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Mae Currier Senior Center
in Plattsburgh, a member of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars #309,
American Legion #1619 in West Plattsburgh, Knights of Columbus #7248 in
Treadwells Mill and a member of St. Alexander’s Parish. He enjoyed
spending precious time with his family and friends. Edward is survived
by five daughters, Jane and Philip Tawney of Yorktown, Va., Theresa and
Lawrence Liberty of Fairfax, Va., Pamela and Craig Szatkowski of
Morrisonville, Tamela Lakers of Chazy, Michelle and Thomas Diman of
Peru; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Nicholas Tawney, Stephanie and
Alexander Liberty, Matthew and Jade Lakers, Ariel and Cameron Diman,
David and Chelsea Szatkowski; four sisters and one brother, Kate and
Jack Milligan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marilyn Jacobsen of Manilla, Iowa,
Linda Stoen of Fargo, North Dakota, Janice Lakers of Kalamazoo, Mich.,
Jack and Jan Lakers of Irwin, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward was
predeceased by his wife, Nora, on March 17, 2005.
Calling hours will
be Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Brown Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh. A vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m., led by the Rev.
Joseph Elliot. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #7248 will
meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 for services.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at 11
a.m. from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Burial will follow
in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in Edward’s memory may be made to Clinton County
ARC or to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical Center in
Plattsburgh.
Lucille S. Ammenheuser
ROCHESTER —
Lucille S. Ammenheuser passed away peacefully on July 29, 2005, at age
71.
She is predeceased
by her husband, Herbert.
She is survived by
her children, Robert of Oxford, Mass., Howard (Tammy) Ammenheuser of
Bristol, N.Y., and Gwen Ammenheuser; a granddaughter, Rachel; a sister,
Myrtice (Daniel) Holmes; a brother, Howard (Sue) Smith; several nieces,
nephews and many dear friends.
Family and friends
are invited to call at Miller Funeral Homes Inc., 3325 Winton Road South
in Rochester from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Lucille’s
funeral service will be celebrated in the Rush United Methodist Church
at 6200 Rush-Lima Road, Rush, N.Y., on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at 7 p.m.
A graveside
service will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the
Lakeview Cemetery, Willsboro.
In lieu of
flowers, friends may contribute to the Willsboro Methodist Church in her
memory.
Loretta G. Carpenter
AMSTERDAM — Mrs.
Loretta G. Carpenter, 94, of Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away
Saturday morning, July 30, 2005, at Mount Loretto Nursing Home.
Born on May 22,
1911, in Keeseville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary
Bonville Gladu.
Mrs. Carpenter
received her education in the Keeseville school system.
Mrs. Carpenter was
employed as a secretary for the Greater Amsterdam School District and
also worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in
Albany.
She was a
communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam and was a former member
of the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course and the Antlers Country Club.
Mrs. Carpenter is
survived by her husband, Clarence E. Carpenter, whom she married April
8, 1954; two daughters, Janet Davidson (Eugene) Gadway of Isle LaMotte,
Vt., and Fort Meyers, Fla., and Susan K. (William) Thielking of Averill
Park; one brother, Charles Gladu of Brooktondale; five grandchildren,
Linda Rosa, David and Michael Gadway, Eric Thielking and Karen Gipe;
nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 111
Division St., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11
a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam. Interment
will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Relatives and
friends are invited to call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the
mortuary prior to the services.

Dallas Powers
JAY — Dallas
Powers, 12, died on July 30, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in
Burlington, Vt.
He was born July
26, 1993, in Ogdensburg, the son of Charity Powers and Luis and Kelly
Gonzalez. Dallas passed away in the presence of both mothers on
Saturday.
Dallas was an
affectionate and loving child who touched the lives of everyone he met.
He enjoyed being part of any sporting event. He loved music and dancing.
He also loved wrestling and will be missed by all.
Calling hours will
be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at 10 a.m. at
Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Burial will follow in
Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks.

Nancy Ann Carr
CROWN POINT —
Nancy Ann Carr, 71, of Crown Point passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005,
at Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
Born in
Ticonderoga, April 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clarence
H. and Dora V. (Noel) Carr.
Nancy was raised
in Ticonderoga, before moving to Crown Point. She was a graduate of
Crown Point High School. She was employed in the Activities Department
of Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga for more than 20 years.
She was an active
R.S.V.P. member of Crown Point and enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was
predeceased by two brothers, Jack Carr and Wesley Bob Carr.
Survivors include
one son, Charles Lee Swinton, and his wife, Fawn, of Ticonderoga; one
daughter, Kelly Lee Swinton of Ticonderoga; one brother, Thomas J. Carr,
and his wife, Sherry; one sister Norma Barry of Gloversville; and three
granddaughters, Ember Lynn Swinton, Vanessa M. Fuller and Alisha M.
Fuller; one grandson, Charles T. Swinton; and several nieces and
nephews.
Relatives and
friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan
Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A funeral service
will follow at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
The Rev. Prudence
Bertolino, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga,
will officiate.

JOHN
M. NOLAN, 66, of
Highlands Road, Keeseville died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at his home.
He was born in
AuSable Forks on Dec. 11, 1938, the son of John D. and Esther M.
(Nelson) Nolan.
Calling hours will
be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton Funeral
Home in Peru, with the Rev. Philip Allen, pastor of Holy Name Church in
AuSable Forks and St. Matthew’s Church in Black Brook, officiating.
Burial will follow in Port Douglas Cemetery.
