Barbara Lois Gero
Malta and Schroon
Lake — Barbara Lois Gero, 69 of 2560 Route 9, Malta passed away early
Saturday morning, July 23, 2005, at the Saratoga Hospital surrounded by
her loving family after fighting a brief battle with lung cancer.
Barbara was born
April 29, 1936, in Wadams, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ralph and
Beatrice Stevenson Decker.
Barbara was
predeceased by her husband, Bernard Gero, April 22, 1987; and her
sister, Ann Vanderhoff.
Barbara was a
resident of Schroon Lake for many years, she moved to Malta two years
ago. Barbara was employed by Stewarts Corporation for 25 dedicated years
in Schroon Lake and most recently in Malta where she retired.
Barb enjoyed
sewing, crossword puzzles, going to Curves and the casino with her
friends, and especially spending time with her family.
Barb is survived
by her son, Galen Pereau and his wife Nancy of Ballston Lake; her
daughters, Valerie McKinney and her husband Brian of Queensbury and
Patti Ann Edwards and her husband Tom of Port Henry; her grandchildren,
Galen Parker Pereau Jr., Bernard Jebediah and Alexis Marie McKinney and
Thomas Bernard and George Wallace Edwards; her sister and
brother-in-law, Maurice and Kathleen Jenks of Englewood, Fla.; her
nieces, Valerie Jenks and Cheryl Mauran; and her great niece, Elizabeth
Decker.
Funeral services
will be conducted Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. at the Edward L. Kelly
Funeral Home in Schroon Lake, the Rev. Kathy Maker, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Schroon River Cemetery. Friends may call on
the family Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family
suggests memorials take the form of donations to the American Cancer
Society, 959 State Rt. 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12904 or to
the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
Michael John Sullivan
Peru, NY —
Michael John Sullivan, 94, of Jabez Allen Road, Peru, died peacefully on
Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Susan in South
Cambridge, N.Y.
He is the beloved
husband of Barbara Tupper Sullivan of Peru.
Born Monday, Oct.
17, 1910, in Keeseville, he was the son of John Daniel and Sarah Cronan
Sullivan.
Mike graduated
from Peru Union School and then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree
from Cornell University, class of 1932.
Mike started out
as a sales rep for Chilean Nitrate traveling the Northeast. Then he had
the job of farm manager at Dannemora Prison and then he managed the GLF
(Agway) warehouse in Canton. In 1943, he joined the Army Air Corps and
served his country during World War II. He was stationed at Lowry Field
in Denver and then served in the Pacific. Upon his discharge, he held
the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mike returned to
the area and finally settled into the lumber business where he logged,
milled and cultivated his beloved woodlots.
Always an active
member of the community, he was a member of the first Town of Peru
Planning Board and the Peru Zoning Board. He was recipient of the Tree
Farmer of the Year Award and the Clinton County Bar Association's Law
Day Award. It was his great pleasure to donate the land for the first
park in the village of Peru. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and the
New York State Forestry Board.
Mike was a
communicant of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Peru.
Mike loved making
music in song and on the harmonica. From his earliest days, he was an
avid outdoorsman with fishing, hunting and working in the forests being
his top priorities. He played golf and tennis up until the age of 84.
He will be
remembered for his generous and fun-loving nature and for his great
stories.
He is predeceased
by a daughter, Mary Sullivan Steingraeber; four brothers, Francis, Bill,
Charles and Jack; and a sister, Margaret Buckley, who died last month.
Along with his
beloved wife of 62 years, Mike is survived by a son, Michael Richard
Sullivan of Peru; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan A. Sullivan and Steve
Sanford of South Cambridge: two grandchildren, Emily Sullivan Sanford of
Berlin, Germany and Benjamin Michael Sanford of South Cambridge; two
sisters, Rita Sullivan and Mary and husband John Neyenhouse, all of
Plattsburgh; three sisters-in-laws, Ginny, Evelyn and Grace Sullivan and
a plethora of beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and
great-nephews.
Friends and
relatives may call on Wednesday, July 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hamilton
Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
St. Augustine's Church in Peru, Thursday, July 28th at 12 noon, with
Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the
parish cemetery.
The family wishes
to thank Hospice of Washington County and the Cambridge Valley Rescue
Squad. We are greatly indebted to Dr. Kris Ambler and Dr. Barney
Rubenstein and especially to our gentle caregivers, Debbie, Heidi, Ann
and Jeannie. We suggest that the best way to honor Mike is to every day
- sing a song, make someone laugh, lend a hand to a friend or strike up
a conversation with a complete stranger.

Quinten Brent Letourneau
Noyan, Quebec
Canada/Alburg, Vt — Quinten Brent Letourneau, age 2, the son of Brent
and Jennifer (Kaiser) Letourneau died early Saturday morning, July 23,
2005, at his home in Noyan, Quebec.
Even though
Quinten died at and early age of an undiagnosed illness he had the
remarkable ability to touch the lives of everyone that came in contact
with him.
In addition to his
parents, Brent and Jennifer of Noyan, he leaves his brother, Jonathan
Letourneau; and his maternal grandparents, Matthias and Odette Kaiser,
all of Noyan; paternal grandparents, Janie Letourneau of Rouses Point,
N.Y., and Bruce Letourneau of Alburg; maternal great-grandparents, Paul
and Madeleine Kaiser of Noyan and Christian and Odette Wolf of
Switzerland; paternal great-grandparents, James (Bubby) and Beverly
Irick and Elaine Letourneau, all of Alburg; as well as many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Funeral services
will be held Friday, July 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the Union Bible
Church, Main Street, Alburg Village. The pastor, Doctor John Kehoe will
officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bush Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers
the family request gifts in Quinten’s memory be made to the Montreal
Children’s Hospital Foundation, 2300 Tupper Street, Montreal, Quebec,
Canada H341P3. Envelopes and donation cards will be available both at
the church on Friday and from the family.

G. Murphy, 46,
of Bloomingdale Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at
Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac
Lake, on Feb. 26, 1959, he was the son of Kenneth and Georgia (Young)
Murphy.
Calling hours will
take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 27,
2005, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m.
at the funeral home with Pastor Merry Watters of the First United
Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Harrietstown
Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
Henry
K. Moody, 75, of
Crossfield Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Uihlein
Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
Born in Saranac
Lake, N.Y., on May 18, 1930, he was the son of Henry and Rose (Facto)
Moody.
Calling hours will
take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on
Tuesday, July 26, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A bible vigil will
be held Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place
Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, with
Rev. Patrick O’Reilly and the Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial
will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
Clifford
E. LaRose, 77,
of Route 73, Keene, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Adirondack
Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
He was born in
Port Douglas, Sept. 2, 1927, the son of Medor and Katherine (Harrigan)
LaRose.
There will be no
public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10
a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J.
Poissant pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Robert
E. Shipman, 78,
of the Laphams Mills Road, Peru, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the
CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in
Plattsburgh, April 3, 1927.

public calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July
28, 2005, at 10 a.m. at God's Acre Cemetery in Peru with Rev. Dr. Robert
Svenson, pastor of the Peru Community Church, officiating.

A. Brault, 70,
of the Tom Miller Road, died unexpectedly, Monday, July 25, 2005, at the
CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
