Ramona M. Baker
WEST CHAZY —
Ramona M. Baker, 69, of Stratton Hill Road, died Saturday, July 23,
2005, at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in
Champlain on May 26, 1936, daughter of Harold and Laura (Duquette)
LaBare. Ramona was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. She
had retired from Chazy Central Rural School.
Ramona enjoyed
camping, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. She was
a devoted grandmother and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Ramona did
domestic cleaning for several families in the Chazy area.
She is survived by
two sons and daughters-in-law, Robin and Gloria Baker of West Chazy,
Ronald and Rose Baker of West Chazy; four daughters and two sons-in-law,
Kathleen and David Nephew of Plattsburgh, Carol Baker of Plattsburgh,
Brenda Baker of West Chazy, and Tammy and Mark Brow of West Chazy; three
sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cecilia Roberts of Rouses Point, Anita
and Leonard Snide of Rouses Point, Margaret and Roger Monico of
Beekmantown; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Frank" and
Irene LaBare of Orlando, Fla., a brother of the heart, John Benware of
West Chazy; 10 grandchildren, David, Angie, Deneen, Amanda, Melissa,
Joseph, Steven, Haley, Trevor and Tiffany; five great-grandchildren,
Kayla, Austin, Skyler, Hunter and Madison; and several nieces and
nephews.
Ramona was
predeceased by her parents and her husband, Russell H. Baker.
Calling hours were
held Sunday, July 24, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home
in Plattsburgh. Friends may also call today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated today, July 25, 2005, at 1 p.m. from
St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in Ingraham
Cemetery.
Donations in
Ramona’s memory may be made to the Kidney Dialysis Unit at CVPH
Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
Gloria Nora Kilburn
WILMINGTON —
Gloria Nora (Lawrence) Kilburn, 82, died at Adirondack Medical Center in
Saranac Lake on Saturday, July 22, 2005.
She was born in
Wilmington on July 26, 1922, the daughter of Kenneth (Skeet) Lawrence
and Maud (Potter) Lawrence. She graduated from Lake Placid High School
in 1940. She married Hughes Kilburn on Oct. 11, 1941. She worked at
Santa’s Workshop and also at the Bobsled Run for the New York State
Department of Environmental Conservation.
Gloria was very
devoted to her husband, Hughes. They enjoyed spending time with their
many friends and family. They enjoyed each other and shared a happy and
long life together. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Hughes
Lawrence Kilburn, on July 6, 2005, and her beloved son, Dennis Norman
Kilburn, in 1985.
She is survived by
her sister-in-law, Kathleen LeClair, of Upper Jay. Gloria also had many
nieces and nephews who will miss her and Hughes very much.
Memorials may be
made to Wilmington Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Calling hours will
be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, from noon to 2 p.m. at
ZaumetzerSprague Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be
immediately following the calling hours. A graveside service will then
be celebrated at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Wilmington.
Lewis R. Launderville
PORT HENRY —
Lewis R. Launderville, 77, of the Lee House Apartments, Main Street,
Port Henry, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at his home.
He was born Sept.
3, 1927, in Moriah, the son of the late Benjamin and Emaline (Cheney)
Launderville.
Lewis was a
graduate of Port Henry High School (1946). He served in the U.S. Army
Air Force (1946-49) as a sergeant with the 3rd Air Vehicle Repair
Squadron, Fort Richardson, Alaska. He continued his trade as a respected
and trusted automotive repairman for many years in the Ticonderoga and
Crown Point areas.
Lewis also enjoyed
delivering meals for the Essex County Nutrition Program. He was a member
of the American Legion. He will be most remembered as a noted musician,
entertaining many with his "Chet Atkins" guitar style.
Besides his
parents, Lewis was predeceased by his sisters, Susan Putnam, Frances
Cowan, Sarah (Sadie) Bertelli, Fayella Treadway; a brother, Benjamin
Tennis Launderville; and a daughter-in-law, Melinda A. (Lounsbury)
Launderville.
He is survived by
his sons, Lewis R. Launderville Jr. of Ivor, Va., and Glen R. Davis of
Troy; his daughters, Starr R. Pelerin and husband, Albert (Fred) Jr., of
Ticonderoga, and Indie Cooper-Guzman of South River, N.J.; 15
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with one expected in July.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a
very special niece, Betty (Savage) Grundler.
Calling hours will
be at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry today, July 25, 2005, from
2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Cremation and burial will take place at a later
date, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made in Lewis’s memory to the Moriah
Ambulance Squad.
Francis "George"
Trombley
PLATTSBURGH —
Francis "George" Trombley, 80, of Wallace Hill Road, died
Saturday, July 23, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was
born in Plattsburgh on July 21, 1925, son of the late Edward and Mary
(King) Trombley.
George served in
the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He
retired in 1986 from Tracey Trombley Construction Company. He spent his
winters with his wife in Apache Junction, Az. He was an avid golfer and
fisherman.
George is survived
by his wife, the former Clara LaVarnway, whom he married in Plattsburgh
at St. Peter’s Church on Nov. 28, 1945; one daughter, Linda Trombley,
of Plattsburgh; seven sons and five daughters-in-law, Stephen and
Kristin Trombley of Malone, George and Christine Trombley of West Chazy,
Marc Trombley of West Chazy, Brian and Barbara Trombley of Peru, Craig
and Rebecca Trombley of Plattsburgh, David Trombley of Plattsburgh,
Chris and Patricia Trombley of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two brothers and
one sister-in-law, Wilfred "Pete" Trombley of Plattsburgh,
Frank and Elizabeth Trombley of Rutland, Vt., one sister, Geraldine
Rugar, of Plattsburgh, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and
several nieces and nephews.
George was
predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Garrant, who died in April 1995; and
three brothers, Edward, Louis, and Napolean Trombley.
Calling hours will
be today, July 25, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home
Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July
26, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville.
Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Donations in
George’s memory may be made to Third Age Adult Center.
JOHN
G. MURPHY, 46,
of 112 Bloomingdale Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at
Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac
Lake on Feb. 26, 1959, he was the son of Kenneth and Georgia (Young)
Murphy.
Calling hours will
be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at the Fortune-Keough
Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m.
at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Merry Watters of the First United
Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Harrietstown Cemetery
in Saranac Lake.
MICHAEL J.
SULLIVAN, 94, of the
Jabez Allen Road, Peru, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the home of his
daughter in Cambridge, N.Y.
He was born in
Keeseville on Oct. 17, 1910, the son of John Daniel and Sara Jane (Cronan)
Sullivan.
Arrangements are
incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
