Sonta G. Veneto Baker
Port Henry, NY —
Sonta G. Veneto Baker of Rice Lane, Port Henry, N.Y., passed away at her
home Sunday, July 17, 2005.
She was born June
9, 1912, in Fair Haven, Vt., the daughter of the late Dominico Veneto
and Angelo Canale.
She was a member
of the Catholic Daughters.
She and her
husband, Willard managed the Port Henry Public Beach for many years
where they made many friends and acquaintances.
She is predeceased
by her husband, Willard L. Baker; her son, Dominick Baker; her brothers;
Paul 1st, Paul, Patrick, Bruno and Phillip; her sister. Pauline Mazzotte;
and her great-granddaughter, Santa Baker.
She is survived by
her two sons, Willard J. Baker and his wife, Diane, and Joseph Baker;
her sisters, Rose Dupuis, Pasqualine McKiernan and Anne; and her
brother, Joseph Veneto; her grandchildren, Mary, Kathy, Willard II and
Erich and his wife Anita; along with her great-grandchildren, Nicole,
Michael, Whalen and Andrew.
There will be no
calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005, at
10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry, N.Y. Burial will follow
in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.

Jean D. Cox
Green Valley,
Ariz. — Jean D. (Dodd) Cox, 77, of Green Valley, Ariz., passed away on
July 18, 2005.
She was born Nov.
11, 1927, in Midway, Del.
Jean graduated
from the Beebe Hospital School of Nursing in Lewes, Del., and worked
there until her marriage to Phillip L. Cox in 1956. The couple moved to
Oklahoma where Mrs. Cox was a nurse in a doctor's office until 1960 when
she retired from nursing to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
Jean spent many
happy years in Rouses Point, N.Y., cherishing her close circle of
friends there. A lifelong Democrat, she often volunteered at the League
of Women Voters. When her husband retired in 1991, they moved to Green
Valley, Ariz., where she found enjoyment in a close community of
neighbors, golfing and exploring her new state. Jean delighted in
showing guests her Arizona discoveries. In Green Valley, Jean was a Lady
of the Elks and a member of the Tri-State Club.
Her flair for
fashion, home decorating, cooking and entertaining enriched the lives of
family, friends and neighbors alike. Gifted with a sharp mind and an
even sharper wit, she was an avid reader and crossword puzzle
enthusiast. She had a passion for travel, taking trips within the
continental U.S., to Canada, the Caribbean, Spain and her particular
favorite, Hawaii, which she visited repeatedly.
Jean is survived
by her husband of 49 years, Phillip L. Cox Sr.; her daughter, Penelope
(Penny) Campbell of Wakefield, Mass.; her son, Phillip L. Cox Jr.;
daughter-in-law, Myrna; granddaughter, Cameron, all of Sierra Vista,
Ariz.; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Wells of Millsboro, Del., her four
nieces, nephew, neighbors and friends, will also miss her.
Following
cremation, a private, family memorial service will be held and her ashes
will be scattered in locations dear to her.
