Maynard R. Brown
CHAZY — Maynard
R. Brown, of 34 Church St. in Chazy, died at Meadowbrook Healthcare in
Plattsburgh on Tuesday, July 12, 2005.
Born on May 4,
1906, he was the son of Mose and Carrie (Latremore) Brown.
For 38 years,
Maynard served as bookkeeper for Chazy Marble Lime Co.; when the plant
closed in 1963, he continued his career at Plattsburgh Quarries.
He retired in
1973.
Maynard gardened
well into his 90s, growing tomatoes and cucumbers. He also loved playing
the violin.
He is survived by
his wife, Bernardine (Poissant) Brown; by four sons, Ronald Brown and
his wife, Audrey, of Chazy; Maynard Brown Jr. of Glens Falls; Robert
Brown and his wife, Barbara, of Clinton Corners; and one daughter,
Marilyn Houde and her husband, Gerard, of Port Kent.
Ten grandchildren
survive him: Stephanie Brown-Mavor, Suzanne Moore, Stephen Brown,
Cricket Connelly, Garth Houde, Summer Foxley, Harmony Hurangi, Josh
Brown and Elizabeth and Tyler Santemere.
Maynard also
leaves 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Loren,
predeceased him, as did four sisters: Ida Duprey, Beatrice Brown, Mamie
Labombard and Nettie Mayo; and five brothers, Ira, Charles, Raymond,
Elmer and Ethan.
There will be no
calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m.
Saturday, July 16, at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.
Burial will be in
Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A reception will
follow at Sacred Heart Church Hall.
In lieu of
flowers, donations in Maynard’s memory may be made to Chazy Volunteer
Fire Department.
Rita Sherwin Saxton
Brasher Falls,
N.Y. — Rita Charette Sherwin Saxton, 73, formerly of Watervliet, died
July 2, 2005.
Born in Ellenburg,
Sept. 2, 1931, she left Ellenburg in 1947 and was married to James
Sherwin in 1954. He predeceased her in 1976.
She later was
married to Donald Saxton. Mother of Christine Toma of Michigan, Maryanne
Ponte, Timothy Sherwin and Daniel Sherwin of Watervliet, David Sherwin
of Westport and the late James Sherwin. Surviving are three sisters,
Mrs. Dorthy Slimers and Mrs. Joyce Perry of Massena and Mrs. Shirley
Davis of Malone; three brothers, Bernard Charette of Jordan, N.Y., Roger
Charette of Lawrwceville, Ga., and Richard Charette of Chicoppe, Mass.;
and a stepbrother, Armand Blow of Morrisonville.
She was
predeceased by her parents; one sister; and two brothers.
Services private
at the convenience of the family.

Frederick A. Wendell
Ticonderoga —
Frederick A. Wendell, 75, of Wicker Street, passed away Tuesday, July
12, 2005 at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.
Born June 9, 1930,
in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late George C. Wendell and Helen
M. (Rabatoy) Wendell.
Mr. Wendell was a
lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and a graduate of Ticonderoga High
School.
He was employed by
the United States Post Office as postmaster for many years before his
retirement in 1985.
He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army and awarded soldier of the month in Guam, 1956.
He was a member of
the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks 1494, the St. Isaac Jogues
Council 333 Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 224, all of
Ticonderoga.
He enjoyed
fishing, hunting, sports and woodworking. But most of all he liked
spending time with family and friends.
He was predeceased
by his father, George Wendell; his mother, Helen (Rabatoy) Wendell; his
stepmother, Alice (Maloney) Wendell; and his sister, Joan Hammond.
Survivors include
his wife, Betty Wendell; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary F. and Joanne
(Ormsbee) Wendell of Delmar; his brother and sister-in-law, George and
Ellie Wendell of Syracuse, and their son’s Jeffrey and James Wendell
and family; and his sister, Mary Wendell of Texas.
There will be no
calling hours. A memorial service will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at
the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The
Rev. William G. Muench, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of
Ticonderoga, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at
the convenience of the family.

Emergency Squad, 8 Depot St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883 or High Peaks
Hospice, PO Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956.
Benjamin
W. Tayler, 75,
of Rouses Point died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing
Home in Rouses Point.
A funeral service
will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005, at the Christ and St.
John's Episcopal Church at 18 Butternut St., Champlain.
Burial will be
private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are
with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
Sandy
R. Cady, 41, of
Brushton, N.Y., died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen
Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
He was born Jan.
7, 1964, in Malone, N.Y., the son of Janice A. Cady of Brushton.
Friends may call
at the Flint Funeral Home in Moira on Friday, July 15, 2005, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St.
Mary’s Church in Brushton with the Rev. Thomas Moody officiating.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Brushton.
Alice
Janet Hollenbeck,
77, of Coreys Road, Tupper Lake, died at the Adirondack Medical Center
in Saranac Lake on Thursday, July 7, 2005.
Alice was born on
May 13, 1928, in Norton, Vt., the daughter of Edward Joseph and Matilda
Blanche (Elliott) Brousseau.
Services will be
held at the Coreys Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14 with the
Rev. Kris Lauzon officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Norman
V. Kavanaugh,
76, of Ellenburg Depot, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, as the result of an
automobile accident.
Arrangements were
incomplete Wednesday evening at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh.
