Eleanor F. Provost

Plattsburgh — Eleanor F. Provost, 57, of Underwood Avenue, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in St. Albans, Vt., on Feb. 5, 1948, daughter of Lorraine McGowan.

Eleanor is survived by one son, Craig T. Provost and his companion Tina McDonald of West Chazy; two grandchildren, Colby and Holden of West Chazy; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Edmond W. Provost Jr., on Nov. 16, 2004.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 11, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Marguerite Julia Passalacqua

Plattsburgh — Marguerite Julia Passalacqua, 76, of Lake Shore Road, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Manchester on April 29, 1929, daughter of Joseph and Julia (Vangelisti) Zomeri.

Marguerite was a devout member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh and a member of the Third Order of Franciscans. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Marguerite is survived by a son, Jay J. Passalacqua of Plattsburgh; a grandson, Anthony Passalacqua of Plattsburgh; a brother, David Zomeri of Buffalo; two sisters, Florence Foti of Newark and Josephine of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Harold Passalacqua, in 1978; a daughter, Doreen Connors, in 1986; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Passalacqua, in 1987; her sisters, Inez Hamelick, Rita Sanservino; and her parents, Joseph and Julia (Vangelisti) Zomeri.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at noon in St. Rose Cemetery in Shortsville, N.Y. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh, with the Rev. Bill Edwards, Catholic chaplain at Clinton Correctional Facility, officiating.

Donations in Marguerite’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.

Pierre "Pete" LaClair

Malone — Pierre "Pete" LaClair, 95, formerly of Churubusco and Burke, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y.

Born in Churubusco, N.Y., on July 7, 1910, he was the son of Wilfred and Cora (Trembley) LaClair.

He was married to Lillian C. Peets on June 19, 1933, in St. Edmund’s Church, Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., by the Rev. Boyea. She predeceased him on Oct. 8, 1973. His second marriage was to Simone "Pat" Patterson on May 3, 1975, in St. George’s Church, Burke. She predeceased him on Dec. 30, 1996.

Mr. LaClair is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Johnston of Burke and Audrey and Maurice Harrigan of North Bangor; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara LaClair of Wynantskill, N.Y.; a brother, Amos LaClair of Churubusco; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and several stepchildren.

Those that preceded in death were his parents; two grandsons, Peter Patterson and Todd LaClair; eight sisters, Beatrice Otis, Agnes Durkee, Delia Powers, Alphonsene Murray, Laura Defayette, Diana Bilow, Elizabeth Boyea and Eva Reynolds; and a brother, John LaClair.

Mr. LaClair lived in Churubusco on the LaClair Road, where he operated a farm from 1937 to 1973 and was also a building contractor for over 50 years, retiring in 1982. In 1981, he moved to Burke to make his home. He served the Town of Clinton as Justice of the Peace for 16 years and town assessor for two years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco and active in St. George’s Church, Burke; Knight of Columbus Chateaugay Council 4th degree and was the oldest living member; member and past master of Grange in Churubusco; member of the Clinton County Democratic Committee, the Burke Adult Center and RSVP.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, July 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on July 11 in St. George’s Church, Burke, with the Rev. John Demo officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Churubusco.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Burke Adult Center.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
