"Mike" Thompson
Plattsburgh —
Richard T. "Mike" Thompson, 80, of the Tom Miller Road,
Plattsburgh and formerly of the Thompson Road, Keeseville, died
unexpectedly Thursday, July 7, 2005, at his home.
He was born in
Ausable Chasm, Aug. 11, 1924, the son of Thomas H. and Winfred M. (Reed)
Thompson.
He served in the
U.S. Army during World War II, from July 9, 1943 until his honorable
discharge, Feb. 4, 1946.
Mike began his
career May 1, 1947, as a forest ranger with the NYS Department of
Conservation, where he worked for many years. He was also a CPR
instructor.
He married
Catherine A. Jarvis, March 4, 1989, at the Peru Community Church.
He was member of
AuSable River Lodge 149 F&AM, the Peru Community Church and the 10th
Mt. Division Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the
organ, singing in the church choir and especially visiting with family
and friends.
Survivors include
his wife, Catherine A. (Jarvis) Thompson of Plattsburgh; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Steve and Kathleen Thompson of Seeley Lake, Mont., and
Jeff and Cheryl Thompson of Williamsburg, Pa.; one daughter and
son-in-law, Susan and Mike Maloney of Keeseville; two stepsons and
spouses, Robert and Julie Thompson of Candiac, Quebec, and Gary and
Donna Thompson of Odenton, Md.; one brother and sister-in-law, John and
Grace Thompson of Portland, Maine; 17 grandchildren, Elizabeth Maloney,
Melinda White and Casey, Corey, Kelly, Ryan, Robert, Brent, Heather,
Melanie, James, Jason, Jacob, Melody, Joshua, Joseph and Josiah
Thompson; and several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased
by his parents; first wife, June (Barton) Thompson; and a brother, Roger
Thompson.
A memorial service
will be held Sunday, July 10, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. at the Peru Community
Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Svenson, pastor, officiating. Burial
will be held at a later date in the Brant Lake Cemetery.
Donations in his
memory may be made to the Peru Community Church, Forest Rangers
Scholarship Fund, or the AuSable River Lodge 149 F&AM.

Hughes Kilburn
WILMINGTON —
Hughes Kilburn, 84, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at the CVPH Medical
Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in
Wilmington, on April 1, 1921, the son of Abram and Lillian (Hughes)
Kilburn.
He graduated from
Lake Placid High School in 1939. After high school, he worked at
Worthington Pump in Holyoke, Mass., while living in South Hadley Falls,
Mass. He married Gloria (Lawrence) on Oct. 11, 1941. He joined the U.S.
Navy and served during World War II from 1944 to 1946. When he finished
his tour in the service, he worked at Haselton Lumber Company. Then he
worked for NYS Department of Environmental Conservation for 34 years,
starting at the Bobsled Run, then was supervisor on the trails and built
many lean-tos in the North Country. They moved to Crown Point where he
was supervisor for five campsites as well as the boat launches until his
retirement in May of 1983. They moved back to Wilmington later. He was a
member of the American Legion in Lake Placid and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars in Mineville.
He is survived by
his wife of 63 years, Gloria (Lawrence) Kilburn; a son, Dennis,
predeceased him in 1985. He is survived by one sister, Kathleen
(Kilburn) LeClair of Upper Jay; nine siblings predeceased him, Irene
Kilburn, Ulysses Kilburn, R. Basil Kilburn, Veryl (Kilburn) Wells,
Marion (Kilburn) Wells, Susan (Kilburn) Doyle, Lillian Kilburn,
Roosevelt Kilburn and Georgc Kilburn. Many nieces and nephews; great
nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
He was very
devoted to his wife, Gloria. He was a wonderful help to those in need
and always put others before himself. He loved spending time at camp and
getting together with his many friends and family whenever possible. He
loved playing cards, hunting, snowmobile, riding 4-wheeler and camping.
His sense of humor, storytelling and fondness for practical jokes was
legendary.
Memorials may be
made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
Calling hours will
be held Friday, July 8, from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague
Funeral Home in AuSable Forks. Funeral services will immediately follow
at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pleasant View
Cemetery in Wilmington, N.Y.

Thomas
J. Ashline, 40,
of Champlain, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at his home.
Calling hours will
be Sunday, July 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at M.B. Clark Funeral
Home in Champlain. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11, at
11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Catherine
E. Delorm, 81,
formerly of Rand Hill Road, Morrisonville, died Thursday, July 7, 2005,
at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.
She was born in
Port Kent, N.Y., on Aug. 8, 1923, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth
(Webb) Ladue.
Arrangements are
incomplete with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
Lorraine
M. Burdash, 76,
of 61 Ketchum St., Malone, N.Y., died Thursday morning, July 7, 2005, at
her home while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the
North Country, Inc.
Born in Fort
Covington, N.Y., Aug. 9, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Angus
and Eva (De Gray) Henderson.
There are no
calling hours. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at
Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone.
Arrangements are
through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.
VERA
M. HARDWICH, 97,
of Chateaugay died Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Nursing
Home in Plattsburgh.
Memorial services
will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Joy Lowenthal officiating.
Arrangements are
with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
