John William Bartlett
HUDSON FALLS —
John William Bartlett, 73, of Helen Street, Hudson Falls, N.Y., died
Sunday, June 26, 2005, at his home, after a long illness.
Born on Nov. 24,
1931, in Hague, he was the son of the late Clayton H. and Margaret (Penders)
Bartlett.
John was
valedictorian of the class of 1948 at Hague High School and he had the
highest score in regents exams in the North Country.
He was very proud
of his Air Force military career and the fact that he and his brothers
had a combined more than 100 years of military service.
John was employed
at International Paper Co., in Ticonderoga, then Finch Pruyn and Company
in Glens Falls and finally as a private contractor in Virginia.
He was a
communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s in Hudson Falls. John was a
great fisherman and loved fishing and hunting with his brothers. He was
an all around nice guy. He enjoyed his home, referring it as the
"Wee House".
Survivors include
his children, Barbara O’Brien and her husband David of Schenectady,
Brian Bartlett of Tennessee, John Bartlett and his wife Rose of
California, Jay Bartlett and his wife Melissa of Syracuse, Greg Bartlett
of Syracuse, Randy Bartlett and his wife Janelle of California, Julie
Hughes of California and Lisa Spadafora and her husband Ray of Saratoga
Springs; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers and
sisters, Mary Foster of Hudson Falls, Anne Hutchins and her husband Joe
of Panama City Beach, Fla., Margaret Prevost of Ballston Spa, David
Bartlett and his wife Virginia of Montgomery, Ala., Lois Kelley and her
husband Clarence of Hudson Falls, Richard Bartlett of Glens Falls,
Gillette Bartlett and his wife Patty of Ticonderoga, Marilla Washburn
and her husband Gerald of Hartford, Larry Bartlett of Hudson Falls, Lona
Jennings and her husband Larry of Hudson Falls, Leigh Bartlett and his
wife Linda of Glens Falls, Cindy Porter and her husband Leonard of Fort
Ann, Michell Kelley and her husband Henry of Glens Falls, Clayton
Bartlett and his wife Linda of Queensbury and Dennis Bartlett and his
wife Barbara of Lake Wales, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and
the love of his life, Edith King Bartlett of California.
Friends may call
on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68
Main Street in Hudson Falls. Memorial services will be conducted at 11
a.m. on Thursday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery
in the town of Stillwater.
The family
suggests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of Washington County,
415 Lower Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
Elsie Irene Andersen
Putnam Station —
Elsie Irene (Waite) Andersen, 81, of Backus Lane, Putnam Station, passed
away Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of
Ticonderoga.
Born in
Schenectady, Feb. 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harold L.
and Marion (Douglas) Waite.
Elsie was a
resident of Putnam Station for many years. She was employed by the
International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for 19 years before her
retirement.
She was a
homemaker who loved her home in Putnam Station. She enjoyed cooking,
crafting, walking on the mountain and her family. She was creative of
mind, gentle of spirit and loving at heart. Elsie will be surely missed.
She was
predeceased by one daughter, Marion Goad; one sister, Mary Killian; and
one brother, Harold L. Waite II.
Survivors include
her loving husband of 59 years, Anders K. Andersen; her twin sons and
daughters-in-law, Martin B. and Robin (Hill) Andersen and Michael A. and
Carolyn (Malaney) Andersen, all of Ticonderoga; and her daughter and
son-in-law, Dawn Jess Maye and her husband John of Cadyville. She is
also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and
friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan
Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. A memorial service will
follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Florence Decker
Mineville, NY —
Florence "Marie" Decker, 54, of 70 Curtis Lane, Mineville,
N.Y., died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Community Hospital in
Elizabethtown, N.Y.
She was born Oct.
8, 1950, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the daughter of William and Margaret
(Straight) Jordan.
She was a graduate
of Moriah Central School. She worked for Essex Industries for 22 years.
She enjoyed spending time at Mill Pond with family, crafts and four
wheeling.
She is survived by
her husband, Ray A. Decker Jr. of Mineville; her children, Brenda and
Jimmer Sherman, Tammy and Alan Friedhaber, Joseph Gero, Lance Decker and
Cathy and Scott Sample; her sisters, JoAnne Haynes and her husband Larry
and Darlene Light; her grandchildren, Travis, Carl, Kayla, Travis,
Devin, Alana, Joe, Samantha, Aaron, Cody, Alexis, Avery and Aiden; her
mother and father-in-law, Ray and Elizabeth Decker Sr.; her
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gorden and Nancy Decker, Roberta
Decker, Dan and Juanita Johnson and Darlene Decker; also aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased
by her parents; and a brother, Tony Rabatory.
Calling hours will
be held Wednesday, June 29, 2005, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Harland
Funeral Home in Port Henry. There will be no funeral service at this
time.

Herbert
I. (Cy) Stafford,
98, of Wadhams, N.Y., died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at the Elizabethtown
Hospital.
He was born in
Essex, N.Y., June 4, 1917, the son of Cheny and Nettic (Sibley)
Stafford.
A memorial service
is planned for this weekend. A full obituary will be in a later edition.
Dorothy
Stark Olmstead,
96, of Lake Ozonia Road, Hopkinton, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the
United Helpers Nursing Home in Canton where she had been a resident
since June 2003.
She was born in
Hopkinton, N.Y., on Aug. 23, 1908, the daughter of the late John and
Carrie Hill Stark.
A private
gathering to celebrate her life is planned for a later date.
Arrangements are through the Anderson Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Maude
M. Vanderhoof,
93, of Port Henry, N.Y., died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at the Moses
Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y.
She was born June
17, 1912, in Westport, N.Y., the daughter of George and Ruby Hadley.
There will be no
calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday
11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry, N.Y. Burial will be in
St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y. Arrangements are with the Harland
Funeral Home in Port Henry.
