Vedo Changelo
PERU — Vedo Changelo,
92, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was
born Nov. 30, 1912, the son of Joseph and Irene (Gallo) Changelo.
He worked for the Grand
Union company in AuSable Forks for 41 years. He was a member of Holy Name
Catholic Church in AuSable Forks and a member of the AuSable Forks Fire Dept.
for 25 years. He loved playing golf.
He is survived by his
wife of 29 years, Doris (Smith) Changelo; they were married March 28, 1957. He
is also survived by one daughter, Nancy Changelo of Rotterdam, N.Y.; three
grandchildren, Mona Gaylord of Latham, N.Y., Maureen Hoskins of Doylesburg, Pa.,
and Mr. and Mrs. John (Michelle) Pierce of Duanesburg, N.Y.; four
great-grandchildren; one brother, Anthony Changelo and his wife, Alberta
Changelo, of Calif.; one sister-in-law, Joyce Changelo of AuSable Forks; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by
two brothers, Rocco and Michael Changelo.
Memorials may be made
to the Holy Name Catholic School in AuSable Forks.
Calling hours will be
held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in
AuSable Forks. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Zaumetzer-Sprague
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elsie Irene Andersen
PUTNAM STATION —
Elsie Irene (Waite) Andersen, 81, of Backus Lane, passed away Friday, June 24,
2005, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga.
Born in Schenectady,
February 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Marion
(Douglas) Waite.
Elsie was a resident of
Putnam Station for many years. She was employed by the International Paper
Company of Ticonderoga for 19 years before her retirement.
She was a homemaker who
loved her home in Putnam Station. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, walking on the
mountain, and her family. She was creative of mind, gentle of spirit, and loving
at heart. Elsie will be sorely missed.
She was pre-deceased by
one daughter, Marion Goad; one sister, Mary Killian; and one brother, Harold L.
Waite, II.
Survivors include her
loving husband of 59 years, Anders K. Andersen; her twin sons and
daughters-in-law, Martin B. and Robin (Hill) Andersen, and Michael A. and
Carolyn (Malaney) Andersen, all of Ticonderoga; and her daughter and son-in-law,
Dawn Jess Maye and her husband, John of Cadyville. She is also survived by 11
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Relatives may call
Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11
Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A memorial service will
folow at 6:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Susan Kay Slattery
TICONDEROGA — Susan
Kay (Thompson) Slattery, 54, of Water Street, passed away Saturday, June 25,
2005, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ticonderoga,
Nov. 23, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Geraldine (Plozinski)
Thompson.
Mrs. Slattery was a
lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church of Ticonderoga.
Through the years, she
was employed in the restaurant/service industry at various restaurants. She also
owned and operated the former "Little Bit of Italy" Restaurant of
Ticonderoga.
Susan especially loved
her family and loved traveling with them. She never missed a family function.
She enjoyed attending her children’s school sporting events.
She was a member of the
American Legion Post # 224 Ladies Auxiliary and the Benevolent & Protective
Order of Elks # 1494, both of Ticonderoga. She was actively involved in both
organizations’ charitable events.
Her interests included
camping and fishing, and she was an avid bingo player.
Susan’s strength and
courage throughout her illness never let her down or slow her down.
In addition to her
parents, she was pre-deceased by her infant son, Brodie; two brothers, Harvey
Thompson and Carl Thompson; and two sisters, Delores Widman and Mary Kahl.
Survivors include her
husband of 17 years, Rollin T. Slattery III; three daughters, Adele M. Gary and
her husband Keith of Cabot, Arkansas, Jody Lynn Bevilacqua and her husband Jason
Spina of Watervliet and Amanda M. Slattery of Ticonderoga; three sons, Damion M.
Bevilacqua and his companion, Julie Fuller of Ticonderoga, Joey Bevilacqua, and
Devon R. Slattery of Ticonderoga; her foster child, Ben Muroff of Ticonderoga;
five brothers, Todd Delair and his wife Angie of Maine, Mark Thompson and his
wife Mary, Kendall Thompson and his wife Margot, and Sean Thompson and his wife
Jessie, all of Ticonderoga, and Jody Reese of Albany; six sisters, Geraldine
Wood, Melanie Bevilacqua and her husband Joseph, Kim Vilardo, and Diana Wood,
all of Ticonderoga, Lynn Thompson and her husband Michael of Albany and Lisa
Ross of Rensselaer. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Taylor Gary,
Austin Gary, Michael Halprin, and Hope Gary; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends
may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan funeral
home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The American Legion will conduct a service
at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, and the Elk’s Lodge will conduct ritualistic
services Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, Pastor, will officiate.
The Rite of Committal
will follow at the family plot of St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
