Clarence H. Strack
FORESTDALE —
Clarence Henry Strack, 76, died Tuesday, at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation
and Nursing Center, Sandwich, after a brief illness.
He was the husband
of Edith Gwendoline Strack. They were married in 1988.
Mr. Strack was
born in Redford, N.Y.
He served in the
U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and was an electronic
technician for the government before retiring.
A resident of
Forestdale for more than 25 years, he was an active member of American
Legion Post 188, 40 and 8, DeWitt Clinton Lodge, The Veterans of Foreign
War post in Bourne and Yarmouth Lodge 2270 Loyal Order of Moose. He was
commander of American Legion District 10 from 1993 to 1994 and a
longtime organizer of Post 188’s Memorial Day parade and the Veterans’
Grave Office in Sandwich.
He was also a
member of Swift Memorial United Methodist Church in Sagamore Beach.
He and his wife
enjoyed travailing in their RV. They spent many winters in Florida.
Besides his wife,
survivors include a daughter, Nannette England of Mammoth Springs, Ark.;
a son, Steve Strack of Findlay, Ohio; two sisters, Myrtle Mero of St.
Petersburg, Fla. and Madelyn Bushey of Elmira, N.Y.; two brothers,
Raymond Strack of Peru, N.Y. and Alvin Strack of Naples, Fla.; and
grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was
held on Sunday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich.
A graveside
service was held on Monday, in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations
may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
