Genevieve Provost Gibbs

Plattsburgh — Genevieve "June" Provost Gibbs, 93, of Gravelly Point Drive, and also of Stuart, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1911, in Dannemora, daughter of George and Carrie (Ero) Ashline.

June had been employed at the L and M Restaurant in Plattsburgh, she was a home maker who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, latchwork, cards and BINGO. She would sit for hours enjoying the birds at her birdhouse. June was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

June is survived by her husband, C. Vernon Gibbs of Plattsburgh, they were married in Macon, Ga., on March 2, 1961; four children, Marjorie Carpenter and Lawrence of Plattsburgh, Philip Provost and Edith of Las Vegas, Nev., Deanna O'Connell and Roger of Cadyville, Thomas Provost of Plattsburgh; a stepson, Daniel Crannell and Wanda of Brownsville, Texas; step-brother, Laverne Ashline and Belle of Greenville Center; a sister-in-law, Edith Ashline of Chazy Lake; 20 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

June was predeceased by her first husband, Albert G. Provost; a son, Albert C. Provost; two brothers, Richard Ashline, Maynard Ashline; two sisters, Marjorie Poupore and Mildred Howarth.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 8, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Building Fund at St. Peter's Church.

Alberta C. Noelting

CADYVILLE — Alberta C. "Pinky" Noelting, 80, of Route 3, Cadyville, and formerly of Dannemora, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Hamilton, Bermuda, on Jan. 15, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Jennie (Tatum) Stiles.

Alberta enjoying crocheting, various crafts and playing bingo. While living in Dannemora, she was a member of the Dannemora Senior Drop In, the Clinton County Home Bureau, RSVP and the Dannemora Methodist Church.

Alberta was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Jennie Stiles; and her husband of 51 years Royal Noelting. She was extremely proud of her nine children; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Jeff and Linda Noelting of Milford, Ohio, Dale and JoAnne Noelting of Cranberry, Pa., Russell and Lorie Noelting of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Terry Noelting of Cincinnati, Ohio, Scott Noelting of Plattsburgh; four daughters and a son-in-law, Conni Harblin and her husband Gary of Peru, N.Y., Diane Perault and her companion Ron Streeter of Mishawaka, Ind., Beryl Noelting and her companion Mike Early of Morrisonville, N.Y., Lynn and Scott Sylvester of West Chazy, N.Y.; a son-in-law and his wife, Randy and Shirley Baldwin of Dannemora, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Stiles and his wife Helen of Hershey, Pa.; her grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Roy, Kevin, Bob, Nick, Jenn, Sarah, Stacy, Shawn, Nadine, Nancy, Nicole, Nathan, Brandon, Sandra, Michael, Chris; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alyssia, Cody, Thomas, Lindsey, Phillip, Mya, Alec, Jacob, Trai and Ava; a special friend who was like a daughter, Judy Relation of West Chazy; her special neighbors who always looked out for her; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Keeseville.

Ruth Tolman Male

LAKE PLACID — Ruth Tolman Male, 85, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Uihlein Mercy Center In Lake Placid, N.Y.,

She was born Ruth Lavon Miller, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 20, 1919, the daughter of James A. and Evelyn Paxman Miller.

Mrs. Male was predeceased by her husband, Morton Male.

She was founder of and worked for the World Modeling Association, as a modeling teacher, instructor and writer.

Mrs. Male is survived by her five children; Radon Tolman and his wife Kathy of Wheatridge, Colo., Chad Tolman and his wife Ann of Wilmington, Del., Kim Carlson-Male of Savannah, Ga., Jamie Male and his wife Jayne of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., and Rarilee Conway and her husband Tom of Wilmington, N.Y.; one brother, Robert Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Dorothy. Meyers of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to extend debts of gratitude for the services and care of Uihlein Mercy Center In Lake Placid, N.Y., and High Peaks Hospice in Saranac Lake, N.Y.

The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge arrangements.

Mable Cassavaw

MALONE — Mable Cassavaw, 81, formerly of Malone, N.Y., died Monday, June 6, 2005, at Monroe Community Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.

Born in Malone, N.Y., on June 4, 1924, she was the, daughter of Almon and Theresa (Kent) Delong.

She was married to Olin Cassavaw, he predeceased her.

Mrs. Cassavaw is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ray Kelly of Penfield, N.Y.; Kathy and Paul Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; Deborah and Kyle Beady of Levington, S.C.; Jackie and Steve Pepper of Rochester, N.Y.; Valerie and Brad Binggeli of Rochester, N.Y.; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert and Donna Cassavaw of Fairport, N.Y.; Gregory Cassavaw of Philadelphia, Pa.; Timothy Cassavaw and his friend Andrew of Fayettville, N.Y.; Daniel and Barbara Cassavaw of Madrid, N.Y.; Michael and Sue Cassavaw of Chittenango, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Mitchell of Potsdam, N.Y., Ruth Dumas of Malone, N.Y., Bernice Dumont of Brainardsville.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Charles Delong; and a sister, Norma Blum.

Mrs. Cassavaw was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, an honorary life member of the NYS Congress of Parent and Teachers and a Gold Star Mother.

Calling hours will be at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, at the Chateaugay Funeral Home with the Rev. Eleanor Bellows, officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Local arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Barbara Ann Dixon

MALONE — Barbara Ann Dixon, 64, of Malone, N.Y., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, Dade City, Fla.

Born in Malone, N.Y., on July 14, 1940, she was the daughter of Carl and Margaret (LaBuff) Cromp.

She graduated from Franklin Academy in 1960. She was married to Benjamin F. Dixon Sr. on Sept. 26, 1961. Barb was a homemaker, and owned and operated her own craft shop, Barb's Candles and Bows in Malone for ten years. For the last nine years, she and her husband have spent their winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Zephyrhills.

Barb is survived by her husband, Benjamin; a daughter and son-in-law Bonita J. and Frederick Peryer of Parishville; a son, Benjamin F. Dixon Jr. of Malone; two grandsons, Frederick and Daniel Peryer of Parishville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Gerald Peck of Burke, Carol and Bruce Dashnaw of Malone, Sharon and Mike Feiman of Malone, Annette and Jeff Fleury of Malone; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Cromp of Malone; a brother-in-law, James Feimann of Chateaugay; an aunt and uncle; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Sally Feimann.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at the Chateaugay United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eleanor Bellows, officiating. Burial will take place at Bellmont Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Attention: In Care Facility, 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33541.

Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Alda C. Brunell

ROUSES POINT — Alda C. Brunell, 81, formerly of State Street, Rouses Point, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 1, 1923, the daughter of Leon and Grace (Conway) Wheeler.

Alda was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point, the Catholic Daughters and St. Patrick's Altar Rosary Society. She was a 1941 Plattsburgh High School graduate. Alda was employed by Wyeth Ayerst Laboratory for 26 years retiring, Aug. 1, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Brunell and Mike Brunell both of Rouses Point; one brother, Leon Wheeler and his wife Catherine of Mulberry, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Geraldine Gagnier of Beekmantown; four grandchildren, Lance, Travis, Adam and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews. One sister, Francis (Ines) LaGoy died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Memorial Fund.

Melody F. Williams

Ellenburg Center — Melody "Mel" F. WiIliams, 50, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.

She was born in Rhinebeck, N.Y., on April 13, 1955, the daughter of Chester and Marion (Perry) Long.

Melody was a manager at Nadim's in Plattsburgh for over 15 years. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her companion, Michael Dupuis; her mother, Marion Long of Dover Plains, N.Y.; a step-son, George Williams Jr. and his companion Brenda of Highland, N.Y.; two sons, James Long and his wife Heather of Plattsburgh and Jason Williams and of Ellenburg Center and his friend Genessa; three daughters, Donna Hebert and her husband Gilles of Morrisonville, Brandy Riley and her husband Thomas of Plattsburgh and Dawn McKinney and husband John of Standish; a brother, Chester Long of Dover Plains, N.Y.; four sisters, Holly Ford and her husband Keith of Keeseville, Melinda Baum and her husband Tom of Slidell, La., Melissa LaMarche and her husband Rick of Keeseville and Heather Shemanski and her husband Joe of Torrington, Conn.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband George Williams Sr. died in 1992. A son George Williams III died in 1995. A grandson Timothy Edwards died in 1996. Her father and a brother Stewart Long also died earlier.

Calling hours will be Thursday June 9, 2005, at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot, from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.

GENEVIEVE DUNNE BERGER, 89, of Brushton, N.Y., died June 5, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home where she had been resident since April 16, 2003.

Born in Dorchester, Mass., on Dec. 17, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Marjorie Bell Dunn.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 10, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary Murphy Funeral Home chapel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 11, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Brushton, N.Y., with the Rev. Thomas Moody, officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Brushton, N.Y.

Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc.
