Bonita J. LaMere Corliss

PLATTSBURGH — Bonita J. "Bonnie" LaMere Corliss, 48, formerly of Merrill, N.Y., died early Saturday morning, June 4, 2005, at CVPH in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where she had been a patient since May 28. She had been a resident at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, since December 2004.

She was born in Malone, N.Y., Feb. 25, 1957, the daughter of John E. and Joyce Perry LaMere of Merrill, N.Y.

She graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School.

She enjoyed listening to talking books and playing bingo.

Survivors include her parents, John and Joyce LaMere of Merrill; one son, Joshua Corliss of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; one daughter, Jaimie Corliss of Poughkeepsie; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Mabel LaMere of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie and Jerry Hamelin of Merrill and Brenda LaMere of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Nicole Corliss in 1990; and a brother, Johnny Joe LaMere in 2002.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, N.Y. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Edna Marie Regan

Billerica, Mass. — Edna Marie Regan, 85 years old of Billerica, Mass., passed away May 31, 2005, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Mass.

She was born March 10, 1920, in East Boston, Mass., the daughter of Ann (McDonald) Williams and Henry Williams.

Edna and her husband, Edward Patrick Regan, were long time residents of Westport, N.Y., and Elizabethtown, N.Y., where they raised their four children. They owned and operated the Country House in Westport, N.Y., The Westport Distributing Co., Westport, N.Y., and the Deer's Head Inn, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

Edna is remembered for many things, among them are her wonderful culinary skills. She enjoyed her family, friends sewing, knitting, reading and travel. She is dearly remembered as a loving mother.

Her parents, and her husband, Edward Patrick Regan, predeceased Edna.

Edna is survived by three daughters and one son, Patricia Regan of Tewksbury, Mass., Arlene Ann Frisk of Florida, Nancy Marie Foley of Florida and Barry John Regan and his wife Gisele of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Claire Fitzpatrick of Philadelphia, Pa.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held in Tewksbury Mass., on Friday June 3, 2005, and the burial was held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, Mass., on June 4, 2005, at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edna's memory to your local elder/senior care center.

John W. Cross

Ticonderoga — John W. Cross, 79, of l71 Lake George Avenue, Ticonderoga, N.Y., died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at the Moses Ludington Hospital.

He was born April 2, 1926, in Moriah, N.Y., the son of Raymond and Emma (Sheldon) Cross.

John worked for Cornwright Sawmill in Lewis, N.Y., for most of his life.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed camping.

He is survived by his wife, Marilynn (Hathaway) Cross; three daughters, Charlotte Crowe of Crown Point, N.Y., Dale Hubbard of Martinville, N.Y., and Joanne Labene of Pine Plains, N.Y.; two sons, David Cross of Miami, Fla., and Michael Cross of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Joyce Fiet of Fort Myers, Fla., and Georgianna Bisphinghoff of Fort Myers, Fla.; three brothers, Tom Cross of Kendallville, Ind., David Cross of Howe, Ind., and Raymond Cross of Lewis, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Jean Clark.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Marvin's Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Memorial donations may be made to Ticonderoga EMS or Schroon Lake Area Veterans Van.

Jean I. Hart

HELENA, NY — Mrs. Jean I. Hart, 83, 1131 State Highway 37C, Helena, N.Y., died Saturday, June 4, 2005, evening at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since May 30. She was a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home since March 28, 2003.

Jean was born April 14, 1922, in Massena, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Hall) Schloer.

She graduated from Massena High School. She married Donat J. Hart on July 17, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Massena, with Rev. John M. Bellamy, celebrating. Mr. Hart died on July 7, 1983.

Her father died when she was 5 years old, therefore was raised by mother and stepfather Charles Rock.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Home Bureau and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where she was a member of the altar and rosary society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, doing crafts, Bingo and ceramics and also watching westerns on television. She also enjoyed family gatherings. She was devoted to saying her rosary.

She is survived by six children, Rev. Deacon Richard and Linda Hart of Malone, Elizabeth and George Bush of Helena, Dona and Philip Parnell of Vermontville, N.Y., Henry and Billie Hart of Newport News, Va., Thomas and Deborah Hart of Greenville, Maine and Susan and John Ames of Greenville, Maine; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Schloer; and a stepbrother, Raymond Rock.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Hogansburg, with Rev. Stephen Rocker, pastor, and her son Rev. Deacon Richard Hart, celebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bombay.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helena Fire Department.

Julia Vagell Kinley

Willsboro — Julia Kinley, 83, passed away suddenly at her home in Willsboro, N.Y., on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005. She was the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Bucinsky) Vagell, born on June 9, 1921, in Lodi, N.J.

She married Raymond George Kinley of Pearl River, N.Y., on Oct. 24, 1941, and moved there. After raising her family, she was employed by Marine Midland Bank as a bookkeeper and later by the Credit Union of Lederle Laboratories, where she administered their first college student loans.

Julie and her husband retired to Willsboro in 1976, where they enjoyed many activities and felt at home in their adopted community. They loved the country setting, the Town of Willsboro and the beautiful view of Lake Champlain from their porch. Julie was an avid bridge player, enjoyed many kinds of crafts and was active for many years in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Essex, N.Y., site. She particularly enjoyed dressing as Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny to entertain children and other visitors to the site.

She is survived by her sons, William R. Kinley and his wife Nancy A. of Hernando, Fla., and James A. Kinley and his wife Mary E. Bell of Willsboro; two beloved grandchildren, Julianne Kinley of San Francisco, Calif., and Andrew W. Kinley of Charlottesville, Va.; a niece, Marie C. Bilney, a nephew, Howard Collins and a niece, Valerie C. Daly, their spouses; and several grandnephews and nieces. She is also survived by her many devoted friends and neighbors, whose love and care she appreciated very much.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters; a brother; and her husband, Raymond.

She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church of Essex and donations may be made in her memory to the church at PO Box 262, Essex, NY 12936.

There will be a Celebration of the Life of Julia Vagell Kinley on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Essex, N.Y., with the Rev. Eileen Weglarz, officiating. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall immediately following the service.

Huestis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Irene Gregware, 67, of Depot Street, North Bangor, N.Y., died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, N.Y. She had been a resident there since April 19, 2004.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Jan. 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Leon and Marie Erwin Trombley.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso - Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in North Bangor. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Barbara Ann Dixon, 64, of Malone, N.Y., died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, Dade City, Fla.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, June 10 at 1 p.m. in the Chateaugay United Methodist Church with Rev. Eleanor Bellows officiating.

A full obituary will be published later. Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Maurice H. Bessette, 92, of Dannemora, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at the home of his son in California.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
