Published: 6/1/05Gerald V. MunsonKeene — Gerald V. Munson, 83, of 25 Cavanaugh Lane, formerly of Portsmouth, R.I., died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 19, 1921, the son of Gertrude Triker. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He was a member of the National American Ex-Prisoners of War, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5390 and a life member of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosemary (Boyle) Munson; and one son, Gerald Munson Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Church in Keene. Burial will follow in Norton Cemetery in Keene. Rynkowski, 87, who resided at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, formerly of Alden, N.Y., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005. Edward was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Rynkowski, eight days earlier. Edward is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Rynkowski, of Chazy, N.Y.; three daughters, Susan (and Richard) Bierl, Elaine (and Bruce) Mosher and Ann McNeil; eight grandchildren, Kristen and Lindsay Rynkowski, Amanda and Andrew Bierl, Derek Mosher, Bryan (and Susan) Mosher, Mark (and Jeannie) McNeil and Jason (and Pam) McNeil; and six great-grandchildren. Edward was a former World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Calling hours will be held at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home on Friday. Gary R. SaltmarshWILMINGTON — Gary R. Saltmarsh, 51, of Route 86, Wilmington, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was the son of Raymond and Helen (Willis) Saltmarsh. He enjoyed camping and helping others. He worked for 19 years for the Town of Wilmington as a heavy equipment operator. He was an active member of the Wilmington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad and also served as commissioner. He is survived by his wife Mary, whom he married Sept. 16, 1973, at St. Margaret’s Church in Wilmington, N.Y.; two sons and companions, David Saltmarsh and Stefanie Cassano of the Bronx and Timothy and Chelsea Lincoln of Wilmington; one sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and John Bombard of AuSable Forks; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cheryle Saltmarsh of Wilmington and Robert Saltmarsh of AuSable Forks; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Helen (Willis) Saltmarsh; and three sons, Jim Tim and Garry. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 3, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington, N.Y. Memorials to him may be made to the Wilmington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Wilmington, NY 12997 or the FitzPatrick Center, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Pelkey, "Peggy" 64, of 36 Scotts Lane, Keeseville, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. She was born Aug. 25, 1940, the daughter of Fred and Glayes (Wemette) Drake. She was a avid bingo player. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Debbie Pelkey, Wayne and Wanda Pelkey and Scott and Tammy Pelkey, all of Keeseville; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Paul Ero of Keeseville; one brother, Howard Drake of Albany; one sister, Edith Beck of Albany; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her mother-in-law, Florence E. Fay, of Troy, Pa.; and a good family friend, Bill Kusalonis of Keeseville. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Arthur W. Pelkey Sr., who died Nov. 20, 2004; and one son and one daughter, Kenneth Pelkey and Christine Howerton. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to noon with a funeral at noon. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, AuSable Forks, N.Y. Memorials to her may be made to Keeseville Rescue Squad, Keeseville, NY 12944. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. George A. KyeaPLATTSBURGH — George A. Kyea, 54, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born Nov. 8, 1950, in Lake Placid, N.Y., the son of George W. and Edith (Southmayd) Kyea. He graduated from Peru Central High School in 1969. He graduated from Clinton Community College in 1972 with a associate’s degree. He graduated in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in arts and science from Plattsburgh State. He worked as a maintenance worker at Clinton County Government Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Survivors include a brother and sister, Arthur W. Kyea of Vermont and Mary Lou Douglas of AuSable Forks; four aunts, Mary LaMarque of Plattsburgh, Iola Douglas of AuSable Forks, Midge Southmayd of Lake Placid and Pearl Guiffrida of AuSable Forks; and one uncle, Clarence Kyea of AuSable Forks. He has several nieces and nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Linda Ann Sanders. He was residing at Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Many thanks to the many doctors and nurses and aides he had over the years. Also to Father Reamer, Father Corger and Father Allen. Graveside services will be held Monday, June 13, at noon at the Holy Name Cemetery in the family plot in AuSable Forks. Memorials may be made to one of your choice.
