Julia Mary Ryan

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Julia Mary Ryan, 72, of Valcour Boulevard, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Jan. 18, 1933, the daughter of James and Frances (Yehle) McEntee. Julia received a BA degree in English literature from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1956. She received her MS degree in psychiatric nursing from Catholic University of America in 1963. Julia taught psychiatric nursing at Clinton Community College for 13 years. She was a member of the Nursing Honor Society of Sigma Theta Tau, a founding member of Champlain Valley Birthright where she was a member for more than 30 years, and she was a long-standing member of the YMCA. Julia was an avid swimmer, gardener and bird watcher. She loved to read, travel and enjoyed new experiences.

Julia was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Frances McEntee, and a brother, James McEntee.

Julia is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald F. Ryan of Plattsburgh, and their seven children; Michael Ryan and his companion, Carol McLean, and their son, Lucas, of Plattsburgh; Gregory Ryan and his wife, Maureen, and their children, Gregory, Robert, William and Thomas, of Burlington, Mass.; Patrick Ryan of Oneonta, N.Y.; Andrew Ryan of Cupertino, Calif.; Frances Moore and her daughters, Savannah and Jacqueline, of Plattsburgh; Mary Michalak and her husband, James, and their children, Hannah, Kyra, Patrick, Margaret and Aidan of Hadley, Mass.; Matthew Ryan of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Patricia Hartung and her husband, Duane, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Frances Peebles and her husband, Roddie, of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Robert McEntee of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

James Anthony Tavernia

CHATEAUGAY — James Anthony Tavernia, 68, of County Route 35, Chateaugay, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at his home under the care of his loving family and Hospice of the North Country.

Born in Malone on June 13, 1936, he was the son of William and Florence (Tebo) Tavernia.

He was married to Genevieve Patterson on Nov. 10, 1956, in St. George’s Church, Burke.

Mr. Tavernia is survived by his wife of 48 years; five children and their spouses, Charlotte and Brian Broeker of Malone, Carolyn Gokey and her companion, Scott Silver, of West Chazy, Lillian Tavernia and her companion, Chet Wares, of Fort Covington, Jeffery Tavernia and his companion, Michelle Oehler, of Saranac Lake, and Glenn and Kellie Tavernia of Malone; 11 grandchildren, Pamela and Patricia Vincent, Christine and Cathleen Gokey, Matthew Prue, Megan and Dylan Tavernia, Jacob, Jordan, Jenna and Jessica Broeker; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Walter Boadway of Chateaugay, Elizabeth and Edward Taylor of Burke, Joyce and Lester Barlow of Richmond, Va., and Jean and Bob Brockway of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Shirley Tavernia of Churubusco and Edward and Veronica Tavernia of Churubusco.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, James Tavernia; two brothers, Thomas and Charlie Tavernia; three sisters, Rita Morrison, Lillian Dupra, Carol Ann Tavernia, and a granddaughter, Brandy Lynn.

Mr. Tavernia attended St. Joseph’s School in Malone. He was employed by Plattsburgh Quarries for many years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree. Mr. Tavernia was also a member of the Chateaugay Fish & Game Club and Boiler Makers Union Local #342, Plattsburgh. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. John Demo officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Donations may be made for family intentions.

Scott Joseph LaMountain

KEESEVILLE — Scott Joseph LaMountain, 44, originally and for 41 years of 1552 Highlands Road, Keeseville, and most recently of 31 School St., Keeseville, passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus and his Angels on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Scottie Joe was born on Oct. 11, 1960, the son of Walter E. and Shirley A. (Blaise) LaMountain. Scottie Joe was loved by many, especially his very SPECIAL aunt, Norma (Blaise) Bailey.

Scottie Joe is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Walter and Shirley; his brother, Jeffery P. and Darlene LaMountain of Keeseville; his two nephews, Christopher T. and
Molly LaMountain of Plattsburgh and Matthew Scott LaMountain and his companion, Kasy Durocher, of Beekmantown; his niece, Andrea, and Adam Walton; his great-niece and nephew, Abigail Jean and Kaleb Ethan Walton of AuSable Forks; his uncle, Andrew "Sonny" Blaise and his companion, Cindy, of Keeseville; his aunt Norma and Ronald Bailey of Keeseville; and his cousins, Todd Bailey, Cindy Mitchell, Willard and Virgil Blaise.

Scottie Joe was predeceased by his grandparents, Henry and Mary LaMountain and Willard and Viola Blaise, and his cousin, Robert P. Bailey.

Scottie Joe was a very, very SPECIAL Angel who was sent here with special love and he taught all of us who love him (and there are many) what TRUE LOVE really is.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of the Angels will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Church in Keeseville.

Donations can be made to the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

Marguerite M. Dupraw

SARANAC — Marguerite M. Dupraw, 89, formerly of Saranac, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Clayburg on May 20, 1916, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Buckley) Lafountain.

She was employed as a housekeeper at CVPH Medical Center for 12 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Redford. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards.

Marguerite is survived by three daughters and sons-in law, Winifred and George Sipe of Sewickley, Pa., Gail and Ronald Wood of Saranac and Mary Lou and Larry Dashnaw of Saranac; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Linda Dupraw of Redford; three sisters-in-law, Louise Lafountain of Saranac Lake, Blanche Dupraw of Standish, and Marjorie Dupraw of Saranac; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, Kyle, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Roy E. Dupraw, died May 5, 1959. A son, James Dupraw, died Aug. 28, 2004. Three brothers, Jim, Edmund and Robert, and two sisters, Gertrude Hogan and Anna Hough, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Saranac American Legion Post 1618.

FRED H. TEEPLE, 78, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Spaulding Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church in Malone. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

JOSEPH MAFFUCCI, 83, of 1023 Ledge Hill Road, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1921.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with a funeral service at 1:30 at W.M. Marvin’s Sons funeral home in Elizabethtown.
