Irene C. Trombly

SYRACUSE — Irene C. Trombly, 92, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Jewish Home in Syracuse, N.Y.

She had resided in the Syracuse area for the past 15 years. Formerly of Plattsburgh, she received her bachelor’s degree from Plattsburgh State University and certification as a special education teacher from Columbia University. Irene began her teaching career in Jamesport, Long Island. Her last 16 years of teaching were spent in the Plattsburgh City School District where she taught classes for the mentally and physically handicapped. She retired after a distinguished career in 1975.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Richard A. Trombly, who died in 1990; and by three brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Gregory D. (Carolyn) of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Bethany of California; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Rouses Point, N.Y., at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2005.

Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Three Steeples United Methodist Church, Route 11, Champlain, NY 12919.

Albert Joseph Trombley

Ellenburg Depot — Albert Joseph Trombley, 71, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born in Ellenburg Center on June 6, 1933, he was the son of Melvin S. and Louise (Monette) Trombley.

A lifelong farmer, Albert loved working with machinery and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Sparkey and visiting with his special friends.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Marie Cayea and her husband James of Ellenburg Depot; a sister-in-law, Marie Trombley of Mooers Forks; a special niece, Cathy Drake and her daughter Christie both of Ellenburg Depot; a nephew, James Cayea III and his wife Kathy of Morrisonville; a niece, Joy Cayea and her husband Ray Petrashune of Plattsburgh; a niece, Cheryl Peryea and her husband Denis of Altona and their children, Aaron and Aubrey; and a niece, Lisa Santini and her husband Leo of Gloversville, N.Y., and their son Nicholas.

He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Irvin, Donald and Charles; and a sister, Pearl Appleton.

Calling hours will be Saturday, May 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.

Mary Louise Summer Snow

AuSable Forks — Mary Louise "Sis " Summer Snow, 78, of Pahala, Hawaii, passed away on April 27, 2005, at Hilo Medical Center after a short illness.

She was born April 29, 1926, the daughter of Bradford and Norah Summer of Kapapala Ranch on the island of Hawaii.

She completed her early schooling in Pahala, Hawaii. Later attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. and Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where she earned a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education. While teaching at Punahou at Pearl Harbor, Mary met and married Lorn J. Snow. Their work required an extensive amount of travel and both gained a broad knowledge of various environments in which they lived. Mary possessed an ebullient personality and made a host of friends wherever she went. After a period of retirement, she again entered the teaching profession by teaching kindergarten children in Naalehu, Hawaii. Her love of children was reflected in their love of her and they all gained from their academic pursuits.

Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and teacher. Mary Louise Snow will be missed by all.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lorn J. Snow Jr.; and two daughters, Donna Rutherford of Hilo, Hawaii, and Anne Walker of Montgomery, Texas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren all of Texas.

Lorn will be returning to his home town, AuSable Forks, N.Y., in June as will others members of his family, for a graveside service on June 6, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks, N.Y.

Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie A. Ahern

DANNEMORA — Marjorie A. Ahern of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Dannemora, N.Y., passed away quietly on May 21, 2005, at the age of 90.

A native of Dannemora, she was the daughter of Hugh and Josephine Herron.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Cubby" Ahern; as well as her brothers, Herman and Hugh Herron; and sisters, Marion Wing and Joyce Douglas.

She is survived by a brother, Herbert Heffon of Plattsburgh; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her nephew, Garry Douglas of Peru and his wife Adele and their daughter Emily, who she regarded as her grandchild.

A private burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dannemora.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Plattsburgh-North Country Community Foundation at the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Leon C. Robinson

CHAMPLAIN — Leon C. Robinson, 93, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born Dec. 31, 1911, in Champlain, he was the son of Harvey and Margaret Jane (Coonan) Robinson.

Leon graduated from Champlain High School in 1929 and Adirondack Commercial School in 1931.

He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association. He also worked at Ayerst for several years.

Leon was very active in community affairs. He served on many agricultural committees and was a life member of the Grange. For many years he was Master of the Champlain Grange, leader of the Pamona Grange, leader of the 4-H Club in which he joyfully devoted many hours helping the youth with their projects and he was also a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

He enjoyed baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He especially enjoyed driving his tractors and working in his garden. Leon had a great sense of humor and with an Irish twinkle in his eye he loved to tease.

He was a devout husband to his loving wife, Bertha of 60 years, she predeceased him on Sept. 19, 2000.

He was a loving father to his three children who survive him; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Gerald Arno of Champlain; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Nancy Robinson of Celina, Ohio, and Ronald and Judy Robinson of Troy, Ohio; seven grandchildren who always enjoyed their grandfather telling them stories; and 14 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Thomas Robinson; and two sisters, Anna Boyse and Bernadette Robinson, predeceased him.

Calling hours will be Friday, May 27, 2005, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain from 3 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 28, 2005, at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church or the Champlain Fire Department.

Blanche R. Lasky, 92, formerly of Sisco Street, Westport, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare in Ticonderoga.

She was born in New York City, May 28, 1912, the daughter of Samuel and Lena (Liebman) Heller.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005, at 12:30 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery in Monmouth Junction, N.J. with Rabbi Herman Cohen, retired, officiating.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport.

DEBORAH LYNN TURNER, 45, of Mooers died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A full obituary will appear Friday announcing the funeral time.
