Bernice C. Langey

Mineville, NY — Bernice C. Langey, 89, of Mineville, N.Y., died peacefully Monday, May 16, 2005, surrounded by her family at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

She was born July 7, 1915, in Witherbee, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Ann (Farrell) Waite.

She was a member of the Church of All Saints Alter and Rosary Society, Mineville, N.Y.

Bernice is survived by four sons, John and Ceil Langey of Ticonderoga, Bob and Chrissi Langey of Denver, Colo., Thomas and Susan Langey of Mineville and Paul and Wendy Langey of Dannemora, N.Y.; several grandchildren and great-grand-children; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip, Sept. 25, 1996; her brother, Bud Waite; and her sister, Bernadine Crammond.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, May 20, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moriah.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Activity Fund, Moses Ludington Nursing Home, Ticonderoga, N.Y., or to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

Arnold Ralph King

Port Henry, NY — Arnold Ralph King of Jackson Street, Port Henry died peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born June 18, 1920, in Cheever, N.Y., the son of John and Frieda (Kimball) King.

He worked at International Paper Co. from 1946 to 1961 where he spent many years as head time keeper.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He enjoyed his many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce King of Port Henry; his children, Beverly and Duane Mattison of Ticonderoga, Arnold Jr. and Hope King of Mineville, Ralph King of Port Henry, Theresa and Frank Horton of Port Henry, Susan and Terry McCloskey of Plattsburgh, Debra King and George Smith of Port Henry and Joseph and Amy King of Port Henry; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his grandson, Wally Edwards Jr.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A funeral service with a Liturgy of the word will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Moriah.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad or to the Port Henry Fire Department Cold Water Rescue.

Annie E. Reding

SARANAC LAKE — The family of Annie Reding regrets to announce the death of their beloved daughter, sister, aunt and partner on Saturday morning, May 14, 2005, after a long battle with ovarian cancer which she fought with grace, dignity and vigorous determination.

Annie was born in Geneva, Switzerland on June 6, 1956.

She lived in Geneva and Brussels until 1962 when she and her family moved to the United States.

She graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College in 1978 with degrees in American Literature and French.

In 1988, Annie was awarded a Master's degree from the State University of New York at Albany. She taught French at Saranac Lake High School and Peru High School. She was last employed by American Management Association in Saranac Lake.

Annie is survived by her partner of 13 years, Mark Coleman of Saranac Lake; her mother, Lorna Reding of Plattsburgh; her brothers, Andrew of Sanibel, Fla., Paul and wife Rosa of Peru, N.Y., and Phil and wife Nancy of Montgomery Village, Md. She was also a loving aunt to Steve, Laurianne, Emily, Luke and Katie. She is also survived by her beloved and devoted Chloe and Issie.

Annie's family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to all of those in the community who so generously gave of their time and support to the family during the past two trying weeks in particular. The outpouring of support was exceptional and is a credit to the community of Saranac Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Saranac Lake Young Arts Association, PO Box 1130, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

Anyone wishing to join the family to honor Annie's memory is invited to Lake Clear Lodge between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005.

Leona B. Bassford

Mooers — Leona B. Bassford, 91, a lifelong resident of Mooers and most recently of the Vilas Home, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Mooers Forks on March 31, 1914, the daughter of Levi and Achsah (Mesick) Vancour.

Leona was a nurse's aide for many years at CVPH until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mooers and the Altar Rosary Society. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and his wife Joyce of Transfer, Pa.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Neil LaPine of Hagerstown, Md., Joyce and John New of Homosassa, Fla., and Joan and Arthur Bylow of Rouses Point; a brother, Teodis Bertrand of Altona; a sister-in-law, Frances Gardner of Plattsburgh; a special nephew, Richard Gardner of Lyon Mountain; twelve grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Robert W. Bassford died Jan. 25, 1965. A sister, Achsah Rabideau; and three brothers, Leonard, Victor and David Vancour, predeceased her.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Genevieve I. Demers

ROUSES POINT — Genevieve I. Demers, 78, of Rouses Point passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late George and Rose (Boulerice) Gokey.

She married the late Adjuteur Demers, May 28, 1949, in St. Mary’s Church in Champlain.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved being part of the St. Patrick’s Choir and she also enjoyed traveling with Green Mountain Tours.

Genevieve was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Adjuteur who died in 1996; two brothers, Carl Gokey and Leeward Gokey; two sisters, Virginia Jordan and Marie Demers.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Matott and her husband Tim of Rouses Point; one brother, Albert Gokey and his wife Phyllis of Rouses Point; one sister, Bernice Demers of Chazy; three grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew and Katie Matott; and one sister-in-law, Rose Bombardier and her husband Roger of Rouses Point.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rouses Point Fire Department.

Jared F. LaGoy

NISKAYUNA, NY — Jared F. LaGoy, 65, of Aqueduct Road, Niskayuna, N.Y., passed away on Friday, May 13, 2005, in Niskayuna, N.Y., as a result of an accident.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

He graduated from Plattsburgh High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Plattsburgh State University and obtained three masters degrees from Albany State University at Albany in social science and administration.

Jared taught social science at Niskayuna High School for 32 years and retired seven years ago.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Niskayuna Teachers Association, was Niskayuna fire commissioner for over 20 years and a member of Good Now Flow Association of Newcomb, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Patnode LaGoy; two sons, Christopher D. LaGoy (Carol) of New Paltz, N.Y., and Michael F. LaGoy (Sue) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Jeanne Marie Mirchandani (Rajesh) of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Ann Margaret LaGoy Polhemus (Ed) of Fishkill, N.Y.; two sisters, Janice Campbell (Richard) and Mary Ellen Rielly (Michael); one brother, Stephen LaGoy; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, State Street, on Thursday. May 19, at 9 a.m. to which friends are invited to attend.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 Mcclellan St., Schenectady. Burial will take place in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Cynthia Jane LaFrance

BURLINGTON, VT — Cynthia Jane (Gonyea) LaFrance, died peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy and courageous battle against Supra Nuclear Palsy.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Champlain, N.Y., and attended Trinity College in Burlington, Vt., where she won numerous awards as a noted speaker on their debate team.

She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Gonyea; and her husband, David LaFrance.

She leaves behind her stepson, David LaFrance Jr.; sister-in-law, Eileen LaFrance of Ocala, Fla.; her loving brother, Sid (Janet) Gonyea; niece, Kirsten E. Gonyea; nephew, Kristian A. Gonyea of Galloway, N.J.; and many friends in Rouses Point, N.Y.

A private funeral will take place in Burlington, Vt. Arrangements made by Parsels Funeral Home in Absecon, N.J.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Oceania Rehabititation Nursing Center, 502 Route 9, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.

Sally Ola DeNicolo Noreault, 53, of Lake Street, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at her home with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1951, she was the daughter of Dean and Keitha (Wills) Storie.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Michael Stanley, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Elizabeth B. Laware of Troy, N.Y., formerly of Port Henry, N.Y., died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at her home in Troy.

She was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Port Henry, the daughter of Robert and Mabel (Hood) McDougal.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Union Cemetery in Port Henry.

Arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.

MICHAEL JOSEPH McDONALD of Blackburn Court, New Hartford, N.Y., died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, N.Y.

Michael was born June 22, 1932, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of Thomas William McDonald and Helen Agnes Callanan McDonald.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Ticonderoga, N.Y.
