Harold I. Thompson

PERU — Harold I. Thompson, 79, of the Union Road, Peru, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Syracuse on April 16, 1926, the son of Lyle and Essie (Davis) Thompson.

Harold served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from August 1944 to October 1945 prior to his honorable discharge.

He married Retha J. Thompson on Oct. 14, 1949, in Syracuse. She died April 2, 1999.

He was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy in June 1944; various military service training schools; and attended Syracuse University and McGill University.

He retired in 1988 as industrial development representative for the Montreal District Office of the State of New York’s Department of Commerce.

He was a lifetime member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072, a member of Fraternal Lodge 155 F&AM in Plattsburgh and was a Shriner.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth A. Thompson and Roberta J. "Bobbie" Thompson; one grandson, William Harold Thompson Jr.; six granddaughters, Lori, Ginay, Shannon, Deborah, Katherine and Kerrie; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah, Steven Michael and Rethalynn Marie; three sisters-in-law, Helen Thompson, Bernice Welch and Carole Kriesle; and three nieces, Carol (Welch) Shute, Deanna Kriesle and Laurie Kriesle.

He was also predeceased by his parents; a son, William Harold Thompson Sr.; two brothers, Fredrick Thompson and Manfred Thompson; and a niece, Evelyn Welch.

Calling hours were held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge met for a 7 p.m. service. Members of the Fraternal Lodge 155 met for a 7:30 p.m. service.

A funeral service will be held 9 a.m. Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru with the Rev. Paul A. Heller, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsburgh, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad, Hospice of the North Country, or the First Presbyterian Church.

William F. "Bill" Aubin

PLATTSBURGH — Mr. William F. "Bill" Aubin, 61, of the Cross Road, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Buffalo on July 3, 1943, son of the late Gordon and Genevieve (Senecal) Aubin.

William worked for the Town of Plattsburgh, retiring in 1996 as the operator of the water and sewer plant in Champlain Park. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved playing horseshoes and enjoyed family gatherings in the garage.

William was a dedicated husband, father and papa. He was a member of the Teamsters and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6067 in Morrisonville.

William is survived by his wife, the former Claudette LePage, whom he married June 22, 1963; his children and their spouses, Amy and Roland Carter of Plattsburgh, Scott and Christina Aubin of Colchester, Vt., and Laurel and Robert Dillon of West Chazy. He is also survived by one brother and a sister-in-law, Herbert and Mary Aubin of Plattsburgh; one sister and a brother-in-law, Dorothy and Donald LaBonte of Plattsburgh; and seven grandchildren, Chad, Genevieve, Zackary, Zoelle, Andrew, Kylie and Erin.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Robert, and a sister, Ellen Marie.

Calling hours were Thursday, May 12, and will be held Friday, May 13th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 14th, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in Treadwells Mills.

Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Donations in William’s memory may be made to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center or Hospice of the North Country.

Esther L. DePew, 94, of the Mountain Spring Road, Westport, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at her home under the care of her family and High Peaks Hospice.

She was born in Eureka, N.Y., Oct. 3, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Nina (Cross) TerBush.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport.

Jean E. Carey, 83, of Maple Street in Plattsburgh, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on March 20, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Beatrice (LaPointe) McCooey.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Theodore E. Fleury, 85, formerly of Chazy, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

He was born on July 16, 1919, in Isle LaMotte, Vt.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Dr. John L. Yardan, 77, of Cumberland Head, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born on April 25, 1928.
