Published: 5/9/05Harold I. ThompsonPERU — Harold I. Thompson, 79, of Union Road died Friday, May 6, 2005, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Syracuse on April 16, 1926, the son of Lyle and Essie (Davis) Thompson. Harold served in the United States Army Air Corps from August 1944 to October 1945 prior to his honorable discharge. He married Retha J. Thompson on Oct. 14, 1927, in Syracuse. She died April 2, 1999. He was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy in June 1944; various military service training schools; and attended Syracuse University and McGill University. He retired in 1988 as industrial development representative for the Montreal District Office of the State of New York’s Department of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge #2072, a member of Fraternal Lodge #155 F&AM in Plattsburgh, and was a Shriner. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth A. Thompson and Roberta J. "Bobbie" Thompson; one grandson, William Harold Thompson Jr.; four granddaughters, Shannon, Deborah, Katherine, and Kerrie; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah, Steve Michael and Rethalynn Marie; three sisters-in-law, Helen Thompson, Bernice Welch and Carole Kriesle; and three nieces, Carol (Welch) Shute, Deanna Kriesle, and Laurie Kriesle. He was also predeceased by his parents; a son, William Harold Thompson Sr.; two brothers, Fredrick Thompson and Manfred Thompson; and a niece, Evelyn Welch. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet for a 7 p.m. service. Members of the Fraternal Lodge #155 will meet for a 7:30 p.m. service. A funeral service will be held 9 a.m. Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru with the Rev. Paul A. Heller, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsburgh, officiating. Burial will follow in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad, Hospice of the North Country, or the First Presbyterian Church. Ruth CookNEW MEXICO — On Dec. 24, 2004, Ruth Cook departed from this life to that heavenly reward which inevitably follows a good and productive life. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 16, 1908, daughter of the late William J. and Ethel E. Bonville. The family will receive guests on from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday from St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. EVELYN LaBOMBARD, 87, of North Street in Plattsburgh, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. |
