Richard Joseph ‘Dick’ Cayea

CHAMPLAIN — Richard Joseph "Dick" Cayea, 77 of Champlain passed away Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born May 7, 1927 in Lyon Mountain, the son of Wilbur and Elmina (Ebere) Cayea. He served in the U. S. Army and is a Veteran of World War II. Mr. Cayea did construction and roofing and was employed by Monahan Construction. He enjoyed playing bingo and fishing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rouses Point.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian (Doner) Cayea; five daughters, Jane Mayo and her husband Reginald of Rouses Point, Loretta Gonyo of Rouses Point, Mickey Pickering and her husband David of Champlain, Linda Long and her husband Richard of Dover, New Hampshire, Judy Cayea and Rick Bombardier of Mooers; two sons and daughters in law, Raymond and Sue Cayea of Rouses Point, Kevin and Lauria Cayea of Champlain; two brothers Jim Cayea and his companion, Annette Devan and Mike Cayea; two sisters, Rose Coupal, and Veronica and Rene Langlois; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cayea was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Kay Poirier and Carolyn Fox.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 2, 2005 at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Church Street in Champlain. Friends and family are welcome to meet at the V. F. W. in Champlain following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Champlain Fire Department or the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are with the M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Marjorie B. Golden

PLATTSBURGH — Marjorie B. Golden, 81, of Addoms Street, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 13, 1924, the daughter of Roy and Edith (Monty) Shelley. Marge graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1943. She worked for 38 years at New York Telephone Co., now Verizon, retiring as an engineer in 1986.

In October 1983, Marge married Robert J. Golden at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, where she was a parishioner.

She and Robert had spent their winters in Punta Gorda, Fla., and later in Ellenton, Fla., for the past 20 years.

Marge was a "Choraleer" with the Tide View Estates Chorale in Ellenton for 10 years; she also enjoyed painting, shell work, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; one brother-in-law, Richard A. Golden of Plattsburgh; one niece and her spouse, Patricia and Jerry Stone of Plattsburgh; three nephews and spouses, Richard A. Jr. and Jeannine Golden of Whippleville, Thomas J. and Christine Golden of Plattsburgh, and Michael J. and Heidi Golden of Tempe, Az; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. Also her special friends, Dorothy Donah and David Donah of Plattsburgh.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church. There will be a reception immediately following in St. Peter’s cafeteria. Entombment is in Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s Building Fund or for Masses. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.
