Carl P. Franklin

Churubusco — Carl P. Franklin, 80, of Churubusco, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice.

He was born in Churubusco on March 22, 1925, the son of Benjamin and Bessie (Breen) Franklin.

He was employed by John Munson Trucking from 1957 to 1973 and later for Concrete Building Supply for many years.

He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco and was a parish council member and trustee. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society and a 3rd degree member of the Chateaugay Knights of Columbus Council. He was a former member of the Ellenburg Center Fire Department and was very active in community service. He was also an avid hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica (Patnode) Franklin; two sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas and Brenda Franklin of Marietta, Calif., and James and Laurie Franklin of Middletown, Md.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Ernie Peryea of Plattsburgh and Ann and John Munson of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Margaret LaVarnway of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Eric and Christina and Kristin and Kasey; and several nieces and nephews.

His mother and father; a brother, Gerald Franklin; and a sister, Helen Jarvis died before him.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, the Churubusco Volunteer Rescue Squad or Churubusco Fire Department.

Edna D. Greenwood

Rutland, VT — Edna Donnelly Greenwood, 94, of Rutland, VT and formerly Ticonderoga, NY, died Nov. 4, 2004,

Mrs. Greenwood was a physical education teacher in Ticonderoga, N.Y., for many years, and also the proprietress of Greenwood's Hardware in Port Henry, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Holly, Vt.

Mrs. Greenwood's nephew, Father William Donnelly, O.S.A., of Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa., will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Holly Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 102, Mt. Holly, VT 05758.

Tossing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RONALD L. ASHMAN, 73, of Chateaugay Street, Fort Covington, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Vienna on April 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Lester and Ida Mae (Ramsey) Ashman.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stephen Rocker, pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Covington.
