John W. Rigsbee

WEST CHAZY — John W. Rigsbee, 76, of Route 22, West Chazy, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Whitney Point, N.Y., on Feb. 24, 1929, the son of Wilbern Monroe and Mary Jane (Cox) Rigsbee.

John served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

Mr. Rigsbee married Jane Earl in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh, on Oct. 25, 1954.

John graduated from Plattsburgh High School and Nelson School of Auctioneering. He was an auctioneer and proprietor of Rigsbee's Auction Service in West Chazy for over 50 years and a real estate broker for much of that time. He was as well a rural mail carrier for 30 years, retiring in October 1988. Prior to his service in the Army he was the manager of the Plattsburgh GLF where he worked from 1949 to 1952.

John was a member of the National Auctioneers Association and West Chazy Fire Department for 25 years, both as a fireman and commissioner. He was a Beekmantown Central School Board Member, Trustee and Caretaker of the West Chazy Rural Cemetery, a member of the American Legion Post 769 in Chazy and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466 in Beekmantown. He was a Little League coach and a Boy Scout leader.

John was an avid sports enthusiast, having played, coached and refereed in many different area programs. He was a member and sponsor the Rigsbee's Auction Service Team of the Fireman's Bowling League at North Bowl Lanes. He was an avid supporter for many years of the Beekmantown Central School sports program. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Rigsbee of West Chazy; four sons, John R. and Da Yong Rigsbee of West Chazy, James Rigsbee of Pensacola, Fla., Jeffrey Rigsbee of West Chazy and Jay and Samantha Rigsbee of Reykjavik, Iceland; one stepson, David Finch of Shrewsbury, Mass.; one daughter, Robin and Ronald Brunelle of West Chazy; two stepdaughters, Nancy and Dennis Freeze of Montpelier, Vt. and Barbara Finch of London, England; one brother, Richard and Leita Rigsbee of Rensselaer, N.Y.; three sisters, Elisabeth Holmes of Cazenovia, N.Y., Barbara and Lyle Binion of West Chazy and Kathryn Rigsbee of West Chazy; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and seven sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church in West Chazy. Burial will be in the West Chazy Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Francis E. Lashway

ELLENBURG DEPOT — Francis E. Lashway, 64, of Plank Road, Ellenburg Depot, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on May 20, 1940, the son of Frank and Stella LaBarge Lashway .

Francis worked for many years at the Clinton Correction Facility. He was a member of the Ace Rod and Gun Club and several CB Clubs. He loved fishing, boxing, baseball and loved all children.

He is survived by his wife the former Gloria Perkins Manor; his mother, Stella Lashway of Plattsburgh; five children and their wives, Dennis Lashway of Chazy Lake, Jamie and Tammy Lashway of Plattsburgh, Brian and Sue Lashway of White River Junction, Vt., Laurie Lashway of Florida and Beeze and Sarah LeClair of Dannemora; six stepchildren and their wives, Clarence and Sandy Manor of Ellenburg, Wayne Perkins and companion Barbara Barber of Ellenburg Depot, Ronnie and Allyson Manor of Ellenburg Depot, Tammy and Danny Manor of Ellenburg Center, Michael and Belinda Manor of Ellenburg Depot and Hank and Linda Manor of Category; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and Vernon Bourlice of Altona, Cathy Tyler of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.

His father Frank J. Lashway Jr. died Dec. 2, 1994.

There are no callings hours. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the St. Edmonds Church in Ellenburg. Burial was in Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Fund.

Valerie D. Cote Boivin

Plattsburgh — Valerie D. Cote Boivin, 54, of College Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 26, 1951, daughter of Paul E. and Patricia E. (Hughes) Cote.

Valerie was born with disabilities, her parents were told by the doctors that she could not live past six months.

Valerie was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. She was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and had attended Clinton Community College.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Mark D. Boivin of Plattsburgh, they were married on Feb. 10, 1979; her parents, Paul E. and Patricia E. (Hughes) Cote of Plattsburgh; a brother, Lowell Cote of Plattsburgh; several aunts and uncles; and many close friends.

Calling hours will be Sunday, April 24, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 25, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church with her uncle, Rev. Normand C. Cote officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Orris Mayo

South Plattsburgh — Orris "OJ" Mayo, died during a retirement-anniversary Caribbean cruise with Carol, his wife of nearly 35 years.

Survivors include his children, Kristin of Tempe, Ariz., and Jeffrey of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Philip and Brian Vallee; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews.

His mother and several aunts and uncles predeceased him.

He graduated from Plattsburgh High School then joined the Army.

After working for the U.S. Postal Service he graduated from Plattsburgh State University. Eventually he became a Corrections Officer at Clinton Correctional Facility, retiring after 20 years of service.

He was an active member of the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee and a life time member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh and was formerly a member of the South Plattsburgh Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Calling hours will be Friday, April 22, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. An Irish wake will be held at the American Legion Post 20 on Saturday, April 23 from 1 to 3. Other arrangements will be at the convenience of the family.

Margaret McManus Connor

Plattsburgh — Margaret McManus Connor, 63, of Broad Street, Plattsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass.

She was born in Bronx, N.Y., on July 29, 1941, daughter of Edward P. and Rita M. (Shea) McManus.

Margaret attended Fordham University, had retired as the business manager at Seton Catholic Central School and was a member of St. John's Parish in Plattsburgh.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Joseph P. Connor of Plattsburgh; and six children, Joseph Connor and his wife Theresa of Quincy, Mass., Kathleen Koenen and her husband Paul of Hingham, Mass., Patricia Devine and her husband Philip of Pelham Manor, Meghan Lawliss and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh, Kelly Perfetti and her husband David of Braintree, Mass. and Brigid Lowther and her husband Eric of Hull, Mass.; 22 grandchildren; two brothers, Edward McManus and his wife Theresa of Rangeley, Maine and Timothy McManus and his wife Claire of Marshfield, Mass.; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by four children, Terrance, Christopher, Maureen and Clare.

Calling hours will be Thursday evening, April 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, April 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in Margaret's name may be made to St. John's Parish.

John Michael Bridge

Summit, NY — John Michael Bridge, 38, formerly of Willsboro, N.Y., died of a heart attack at his home in Summit, N.Y., Tuesday, April 19, 2005.

Mike, as he was known, was born at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla., on July 23, 1966.

For a number of years he has lived in Summit, N.Y., and worked as a welder for Jett Industries.

He was an Army veteran from the 101 Airborn Division where he received an Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge, M16 Rifle Sharpshooter badge, a Hand Grenade Badge and an honorable discharge from Ft. Campbell, Ky., in 1987.

He was also an avid motorcyclist owning and riding his Harley every chance he could.

He is survived by his father, John Bridge and his companion June Anderson of Willsboro, N.Y.; his mother, Brenda Monigan of Elizabethton, Tenn.; two brothers and their wives, Jeffrey and Sandi Bridge of Ladson, S.C., and Patrick and Amy Malone of Goose Creek, S.C.; two children; aunts and uncles, Linda and Vaughn Jaquish, Susie and Peter Jollie, Chester and Rawee Bridge and Patricia Bridge; as well as two nieces; one nephew; and numerous cousins.

Calling hours for Mike will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro, on Friday, evening April 22, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip's Church Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lakeshore Road., Willsboro.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Willsboro Fire Co. and Rescue Squad.

Nancy Neri, 64, of Plattsburgh, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Robert J. Papineau, 75, of Monty Street, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Saranac Lake on Sep. 6, 1929, the son of Leon and Viola (Taylor) Papineau.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, 2005, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Merrill Ives, 83, of Rouses Point, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 25, 2005, at 1 p.m. from St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.
