Published: 4/15/05Michael D. DupreeSaranac Lake — Michael D. Dupree, age 47, of 263 Lake Flower Ave., Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Key West, Fla. At the time of his death, Mike was enjoying a wonderful vacation with his wife and close friends, Liz (Wiles) Kinney and her husband James. Mike had just returned to the boat from an incredible time of snorkeling on the Coral Reef in Key West and was enjoying watching the view of the ocean when he died very peacefully from heart complications related to a long history of diabetes. Born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1957, the son of Robert and Patricia (Quigley) Dupree. Michael married Ann Peightal on Dec. 11, 1982, in Saranac Lake. Mike was a life long resident of Saranac Lake and was currently working for the Town of Harrietstown Housing Authority. Prior to that, he had worked for Pine Ridge Cemetery Association for many years and he had operated his own burial vault company. He also had worked for the Olympic Regional Development Authority during the 1980 Winter Olympics as a driver for the New Zealand Olympic Team. Mike was a self employed carpenter and was well known for his craftsmanship and Adirondack furniture. He also had been a caretaker for three great Adirondack camps for several years and had passed the tradition onto his son, Jon. Mike is a past member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club. He coached modified lacrosse in Saranac Lake with his good friend Les Farrell and had founded the S.L. Lacrosse Booster Club. Mike also had coached Little League baseball for several years. He had volunteered for ORDA for many years at various events, including Ironman, the Great Outdoor Games, Ski Jump markers, Stars on Ice and all of the USA Women’s hockey games. Mike was a member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and is a former EMT. He was also a past 1st Lieutenant of Rescue. Mike shared receiving the Meritorious Service Award along with three other fellow firefighters for life saving action when two pulseless victims were rescued from a submerged vehicle in a river and then successfully resuscitated. Mike was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees and Giants. Mike and his son Chris loved watching Yankee games together. Mike was also an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Ann; four children, Greg Riley of Monterey, Calif., Jennifer Riley of Saranac Lake, Jon Dupree of Saranac Lake and Christopher Dupree of Saranac Lake, who is currently attending college at Plattsburgh State University; his mother, Patricia Dupree of Saranac Lake; three brothers, Peter and his companion Nadia, Billy and Thomas and his wife Wendy, all of Saranac Lake; two sisters, Barbara Kristoffersen and her husband Roy and Amy Hagar and her husband Tom, also all of Saranac Lake. He is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Dianna (Trummer) Dupree, Kathy Parker of Monterey, Calif., and Mary Sue Dalton of Lake Clear, N.Y.; and his mother-in-law, Kitty Peightal. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dupree; his brother, Paul "Bummer" Dupree; and his father-in-law, John "Jack" Peightal. Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. only. A fireman’s prayer service will take place Sunday evening at 8:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:15 a.m. on Monday at St. Bernard’s Church, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Friends wishing to remember Michael D. Dupree may make memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association or Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Michael F. HarrisLyon Mountain — Michael F. Harris, 43, of Lyon Mountain, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Malone on May 12, 1961, the son of Eugene F. and Elizabeth (LaClair) Harris. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1982-1985 and was a member of the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion Post 1623 of Lyon Mountain. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his son Eugene. He is survived by his son, Eugene; his companion, Mary Kay Milne of Lyon Mountain; his mother, Elizabeth Harris of Ellenburg Center; a brother, Theodore Harris of Churubusco; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Mark Graves of Sciota, Eugenia and Steven LaClair of Merrill and Amy and Eric Trombly of Ellenburg Center; and several nieces and nephews. His father, Eugene F. Harris, died on July 19, 1997. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Beatrice McCall WilliamsMorrisville, Vt. — Beatrice McCall Williams, 90, of Morrisville, died peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Graveside services and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pleasant View Cemetery in Morrisville. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia W. Bailey, of Plattsburgh. Sheridan, 97, of Clinton County Nursing Home, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2005, there. She was born in Altona on Nov. 14, 1907, daughter of Walter and Margaret (Lucia) LaPier. Eva was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, a member of St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society and attended St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Eva was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family very much. Eva had lived in Clinton County Nursing for two and a half years. Her family sincerely thanks the dedicated staff for the wonderful care she received. Eva is survived by a sister, Audrey Bulriss and her husband Willard of West Chazy; a brother, Theodore LaPier and his wife Margaret of Plattsburgh; two grandsons, Kevin Downs of Plattsburgh and Patrick Downs of Pierre Fonds, Quebec, Canada; five great-grandchildren, Tara Downs, Kelly Downs, Megan Downs, Courtney Downs and Brendan Downs; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday evening, April 15th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16th, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Burial will be on Monday, May 9th, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy. Masses may be offered in her memory. Lawrence C. HartCadyville — Lawrence Charles Hart, 78, died on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at his home, following a long battle with metatastic prostate cancer. He was cared for by his family and Hospice of the North Country. Larry was born on Aug. 28, 1926, the son of Charles and Eleanora (LaBombard) Hart. He graduated from high school and attended Spencer Business Training School while working for the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. Larry worked in the field of restaurant management for many years in New York State and New Jersey. He was last employed at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base, where he served as Package Store manager. He retired in 1989 after 10 years of service. He was a long time member of St. Peter’s Church and the Keeseville Lodge of Elks. Larry was an avid antique collector with special interest and knowledge of flow blue china, carnival glass and cut glass. Survivors include his former wife, Lulu M. (Ryan) Hart; a daughter, Sharon Hart Galarneau Cumberland (William); a son, Shane L. Hart (Teresa). Also grandsons Edward Galarneau (Linda Von den Bosch), Scott Galarneau, Shane M. Hart; and a great-granddaughter, BreeAnna Galarneau. All are from the Glen Burnie and Edgewood, Md., areas. Larry is also survived by his sister, Margaret LaBounty (Rufus) of Keeseville; and nieces, nephews, cousins and close personal friends, including his caregiver, Joseph G. Swinyer, of Cadyville. Calling hours will be held at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday from St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Larry requested that memorial donations be made to St. Peter’s Building Project, the FitzPatrick Cancer Center or Hospice of the North Country. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Frances Thompson, 80, of Second Street, Lyon Mountain, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center. Calling hours will be held at the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Bernard Christmas officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Lyon Mountain. Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home. A full obituary will be published in the Saturday Press-Republican. Katherine Rice, 72, of Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday at noon at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home. John Mac Braisted, 85, of Silver Bay, N.Y., died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the Heritage Commons Adult Residence of Ticonderoga. He was born March 30, 1920, in Port Henry, N.Y. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. The Mt. Defiance Lodge of Ticonderoga will conduct ritualistic services at 7:30 p.m., Friday evening, at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place Saturday, 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Prudence Bertolino, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Rabideau — A memorial service for Richard "Smokey" Rabideau Sr., 83, who died on Dec. 29, 2004, and all deceased members of the Keeseville Catholic Community, will be held on Saturday, April 16th, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville.
