Published: 4/6/05Marjorie M. BolandKeeseville/AuSable Chasm — Marjorie M. Boland, 92, of Keeseville and AuSable Chasm, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at the Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was born in Keeseville, Jan. 29, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Maude (Trombley) Martin. Marjorie married James P. Boland Thursday, July 4, 1929, at St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville. James predeceased her Friday, July 21, 1989, as did also an infant daughter, Shirley in 1930. Mrs. Boland and her husband owned and operated the Chasm Motel for many years. She was known for her chocolate making, cooking and gardening. She had a keen interest in politics and never failed to vote on Election Day. Above all, she had a special love for family. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Francis Stein of Montgomery and Judy and Wayne Twining of Peru; ten grandchildren and spouses, Mary Daum and her companion Justin McKenzie, James and Ray Stein, Thomas and Carol Stein, Michael and Laura Stein, John and Maria Stein, Christopher Stein and his fiancée Kelly Battersby, Karen and Frank Cumbo, Kathleen and Farren Mion, Kathryn and Jason Mitchell and Kristie Twining; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lillian Martin of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Virginia Ouimette, Estella Zaramba and Frances Benoit; and three brothers, James Martin, William Young and Arthur Young. Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 9, 2005, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial and the celebration of her life will follow at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. with Msgr. Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Keeseville Fire Department or the American Diabetes Association. Kyle R. RockPLATTSBURGH — Mr. Kyle R. Rock, 44, of Nichols Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 4, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 7, 1961, the son of Robert and Janice (Sorrell) Rock. Kyle was a graduate of Mount Assumption Institute. He graduated from Clinton Community College in the nursing program. He was a registered nurse at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt., and was to begin working at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora on Monday, April 11, 2005. Kyle loved all outdoor sports. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Smugglers Notch, Vt. He is survived by parents, Robert and Janice Rock of Morrisonville; his son, Adam Rock of Plattsburgh; his fiancee, Shauna Latourelle and her daughter Casey of Plattsburgh; a brother, Kevin Rock and his wife Diane of Morrisonville; his sisters, Carol Premore and her husband David of Morrisonville, Kathy Solotky and her husband David of Napa, Calif., and Kristine Dougherty and her husband Joseph of Peru; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, also survive him. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1 p.m. from St. Peter's Church. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Adirondack Humane Society or the American Heart Association. Logan M. BlierPLATTSBURGH — Logan M. Blier, 1, of South Peru Street, Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 4, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on April 2, 2004, the son of Paul A. and Christina M. (Breyette) Blier. Logan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Donald G. and Josette (Jeanotte) Blier. Logan is survived by his parents, Paul and Christina Blier of Plattsburgh; his brother, Austin Blier of Plattsburgh; his maternal grandmother, Marion Breyette of Beekmantown; his paternal grandmother, Ivy Stanley of Plattsburgh; his god parents, Kimberly J. Gumlaw of Plattsburgh and Ben Blier of Mt. Home, Idaho; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Samantha J. Caban, 13, of West Street, Malone, N.Y., died Monday evening, April 4, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt. She had been a patient there since March 24, 2005. She was born in Malone, on Jan. 11, 1992, the daughter of Samuel and Kathryn Morris Caban. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery later in the spring. Samantha was the queen of the color purple. Everyone is asked to wear something purple to the wake and funeral in her memory. |
