Published: 4/5/05Harvey SmithROUSES POINT — Harvey Smith, 73, of 4 Oakwood Drive, Rouses Point, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born Oct. 22, 1931, to Willard and Grace (Mitchell) Smith. He was predeceased by his wife, who died Dec. 22, 2004. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Northeastern Clinton Central School Board for several years and he was also a member of American Legion and the Elks Club. He was a dairy farmer and sheep farmer for many years. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Smith of Millbrook, N.Y., and Wanda and Theo George of Washington State; two granddaughters, Simeone George of New York City and Nicole George of Berkley, Calif.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill Smith of Plattsburgh and Carl and Sally Smith of Rouses Point; three sisters, Gladys Vaillancourt of Quebec, Ann Downs of Cadyville and Marion Lapan of Altona; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and Frank Lavonia of Florida. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Three Steeples Church in Rouses Point. Burial will be at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the North Country, 386 Rugar St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901-3106. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Katherine E. WojcikPort Henry — Katherine E. Wojcik, 77, of Lakeview Avenue, Port Henry, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at her home. She was born June 2, 1927, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the daughter of James and Ella (Baker) Ryan. Katherine enjoyed the outdoors, camping with friends and family, knitting and spending time with close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Defelice of Port Henry; her sons, Stanley Wojcik of Arkansas and John Wojcik and his wife Nancy of Troy, N.Y.; her sister, Alice Palmer of Waterford; her brother, Mike Ryan and his wife Sara of Cobleskill; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Wojcik; a son-in-law, Richard Janoski; her brothers, James Ryan, Charles Ryan, Francis Ryan, John Ryan; and her grandsons, David Defelice and Justin Combs. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 10th, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y. Jean M. CarrSyracuse — Jean M. Carr, 82, of Syracuse, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Community General Hospital. Born in Plattsburgh, she retired from Syracuse City Schools in 1985, following 20 years of service as a bus aide for the mentally and physically challenged. She enjoyed bingo, crafting, traveling and summers at Lake Champlain and winters at Anna Maria Island, Fla. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lynn Carr, in 1993; and her husband, George R. Carr, March 13, 2005. Jean is survived by three daughters, Corrie Lopipero of Camillus, Barbara Carr of Liverpool and Kimberly (Eric) Broeker of Cicero; two sons, William G. (Patricia) Carr and James S. Carr, both of Plattsburgh; a sister, Pat Irwin of Potsdam; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held on Monday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 So. Salina St., Syracuse. Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Memorial services were held Sunday, March 13, 2005, followed by interment at New Montefiore Cemetery, Pinelawn, N.Y. Logan M. Blier, 1, of South Peru Street, Plattsburgh, died unexpectedly Monday, April 4, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on April 2, 2004, the son of Paul A. and Christina M. (Breyette) Blier. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. |
