Published: 3/28/05Suzanne M. DevinsPLATTSBURGH — Suzanne M. Devins, 60, of Arnold Road, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in New York City on Oct. 11, 1944, daughter of Walter B. and Agnes (Stevens) Wheaton. Suzanne was a 1962 graduate of Canisteo High School and a 1998 magna cum laude graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh. She was employed at Evergreen Townhouse Community in Plattsburgh and was formerly a teachers aide in the Peru School District. She and Roland E. Devins were married on Nov. 22, 1968, Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Suzanne was a member of Trinity Episcopal. She is survived by her husband and three children: Terry Head and her husband, Mark of Peru; Daniel Devins and his wife, Jillian of Plattsburgh; Barbara Devins of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren: Hayden Head, Dalton Head, Dakota Head and Karlie Devins; a brother, Kenneth Wheaton and his wife, Phyllis, of Glen Rock, Pa.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours be Tuesday, March 29, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at noon from Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville. Donations in Suzanne’s memory may be made to the Henry K. Freedman Renal Center at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Thomas J. GalloLAKE PLACID — Thomas J. Gallo, 23, of Jersey Drive, Lake Placid, died suddenly as a result of an automobile accident near Bloomingdale on Saturday, March 26, 2005. He was born in Saranac Lake on June 12, 1981, the son of Robert and Linda (Morency) Gallo. Tom was a graduate of Lake Placid High School and Adirondack Community College in Queensbury. He was a draftsman for Adirondack Designs in Saranac Lake at the time of his death. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. Patrick O’Reilly will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. Ricky G. LaMoraSARANAC — Ricky G. LaMora, 45, of Route 3, Saranac, died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the home of his parents, surrounded by his loving family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh, Dec. 11, 1959, the son of Gerald E. and Janet A. (Barrow) LaMora. Ricky was a bus driver with the Saranac Central School District. He was an avid NASCAR fan and car enthusiast. He also enjoyed playing cards. Survivors include his parents of Saranac; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Patti LaMora of Redford; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherie and James Goslin of Saranac; Nancy and Glenn Dufour of Wilton, Maine; Tammy and Scott McKnight of Nicholasville, Ky.; and Shawna and Charles Dutko of Morrisonville; nine nieces; three nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; several close friends; and his two dogs, Ace and Tika. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bruce Gates. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Redford with the Rev. Francis J. Coryer, pastor, celebrating, and the Rev. Philip Allen, pastor of Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks and St. Matthew’s Church in Black Brook, concelebrating. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery, Friday, May 20, 2005, following a 9 a.m. Mass. Donations in his memory may be made to the family. Florence L. HarrisBEEKMANTOWN — Florence L. Harris, 101, formerly of the Brooks Bend Road, died Sunday morning, March 27, 2005, at Meadowbrook Nursing Facility. Mrs. Harris was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 6, 1903, the daughter of William and Minnie (Klock) Benze. She married Pope Harris at the "Little Church Around the Corner" in New York City in 1928; he died in 1971. Mrs. Harris was a member of Golden Agers Senior Citizen Council, Plattsburgh Home Bureau, AARP, the Plattsburgh Newcomers Club, and several card clubs in Plattsburgh. She was a technician at the Sperry Corp. on Long Island for several years and moved to Plattsburgh in 1972, after her husband died, to live with her daughter Joan. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Louise O’Leary of Whiting, N.J., and Mrs. James (Joan) Sears of Beekmantown; one sister, Mrs. Jean Smith of Mt. Dora, Fla,; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Theodore Benze, and a sister, Edith Ryan, both died earlier. There will be private calling hours and services for the family. Burial will be in Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials, in her memory, may be made to Plattsburgh Senior Citizens Council. Kathryn E. HeathPlattsburgh — Mrs. Kathryn E. Heath, formerly of St. Johnsville, N.Y., and Rouses Point, N.Y., and most recently the S.F. Vilas Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Heath; two sisters; and one brother. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Marty of Champlain; and two grandchildren, Daniel of Champlain and Jamie of Saranac, N.Y. There will be a memorial service followed by a light luncheon at 3 Steeples Methodist Church on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Reformed Church, W. Main St., St. Johnsville, N.Y. — Attn. Mr. Gene Wagner. RUTH B. BREEN, 83, of 30 Uno St., North Bangor, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at her home. Born in Malone on May 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Couillard) Gravel. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring. |
