Dennis Patrick Donoghue Sr.

Punta Gorda, Fla. — Dennis Patrick Donoghue Sr., 70, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Hospice House of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Dennis was born March 13, 1935, in Watertown, N.Y., to the late Raymond L. and Mary (Carroll) Donoghue. In his youth, he played semi-pro football with the Watertown Red & Black semi-pro football team and played in the team's undefeated season of 1955. A railroad man for most of his life, he began his career as a brakeman and conductor with the N.Y. Central Railroad. The railroad would later become Consolidated Rail and he would spend the last eight years of a 40-year career with the railroad as general chairman of the United Transportation Union.

Dennis retired to Punta Gorda 10 years ago from Baldwinsville, N.Y. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2348 of Liverpool, N.Y., Masonic Lodge 622 of Central Square, N.Y., and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Valley in East Syracuse, N.Y., and was a member of the Shrine, Tigris Temple, in Syracuse, N.Y. A veteran of the Korean War, 1951-1954, U.S. Marine Corp., he was a member of the American Legion, Post 110 of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Baldwinsville, N.Y. He was Roman Catholic.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Louella "Bonnie" Y. Donoghue; and 12 children, George Donaldson of Punta Gorda, Fla., Gregg Donaldson of Fulton, N.Y., Dennis P. Donoghue Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Joseph Donoghue of Watertown, N.Y., Lori Shibley of Pennellville, N.Y., Kathy Salvadore of Oswego, N.Y., Kelly Donoghue of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Kevin Donoghue of Syracuse, N.Y., Patty Papke of Green Bay, Wis., Gary Donaldson of Pennellville, N.Y., Colleen Wheeler of Copenhagen, N.Y., and Danny Donoghue of San Francisco, Calif.; six brothers; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29th, at St. Therese Catholic Church in North Fort Myers, Fla. Services will be held in New York at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Punta Gorda Chapel.

Orel D. Gagnon

MORRISONVILLE — Orel D. Gagnon, 84, of Beekman Towers, died Wednesday evening, March 23, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Napierville, Quebec, on June 19, 1920, the son of Alphonse and Eugenie (Hebert) Gagnon. Mr. Gagnon married the former Rose Nichols at St. Alexander's Church in 1946. She died in 1985.

He was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.

Mr. Gagnon was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 1619, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 and the Moose Lodge in Plattsburgh. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Gagnon owned and operated Gagnon's Garage and Grocery and later owned and operated Morrisonville Septic with his son Michael, until retiring in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Michael Gagnon and his wife Connie of Cadyville; two daughters, Patricia Gagnon of Piercefield, N.Y., and Rosemary Reif and her husband William of Saranac; six grandchildren, Jessica, Nikkole, Ryan, Kelli, Shannon and Shawn; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Coralee; and several nieces and nephews.

Four brothers, Leo, Clovis, Paul and Orvil Gagnon, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass ofChristian burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church. Burial will be St. Alexander's Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the CVPH Foundation for Nursing Education or the ALS Foundation.

Ruth J. Lamberton

PLATTSBURGH — Ruth J. Lamberton, 87, formerly of Eddie Drive, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Montreal, Quebec, on Dec. 16, 1917, the daughter of William and Phoebe (Moore) Johnson. She grew up in Hemmingford, Quebec.

On June 24, 1936, Ruth married Kenneth Lamberton of Mooers, N.Y. Together, they ran a dairy farm until 1960 when they sold their farm and moved to Plattsburgh. Mrs. Lamberton was employed by the Clinton County Department of Social Services until she retired in 1974.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh, the Peru Golden Apple Club and the Clinton County Senior Citizens Council.

Mrs. Lamberton enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano and craft work. She made unique dolls and stuffed animals that are treasured by her family.

Mrs. Lamberton is survived by a daughter, Sandra Soulia and her husband Andrew of Plattsburgh; a granddaughter, Heather Kumta and her husband Sunil of Schenectady; a great-granddaughter, Katie Kumta, also of Schenectady; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Waddell of Mooers and Bernice Meyer of Rochester.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Ricky Ayres; and by her brother, Kenneth Johnson.

There will be no public calling hours.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Mooers Forks Union Cemetery at a later date.

Robert Francis Proulx

Plattsburgh — Robert Francis Proulx, 47, of Macomb Street, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 23, 1957, son of Francis J. and Irene M. (Desautels) Proulx.

Robert was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Robert was active in several local organizations.

Robert is survived by his parents, Francis and Irene Proulx of Plattsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jojo De Lecerda of Albany, a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Herb Olsen of Plattsburgh, a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Steve Nasidka of Syracuse, a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Bruce Boyd of Plattsburgh; a brother, Brian J. Proulx of Chicago, Ill.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert was predeceased by a brother, Michael D. Proulx.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 28th, at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29th, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial with military honors will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery.

The family requests that Masses be said in Robert's memory.

Royal J. Lemaire

Ticonderoga — Royal J. Lemaire, 78, of Veterans Road, Ticonderoga, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt.

Born in Calunet Island, Canada, Oct. 7, 1926, he was the son of the late Prospere and Daleda M. (Tourangeau) Lemaire.

Mr. Lemaire was a resident of Ticonderoga for many years.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Perrini Construction Company of Canada for many years.

He was also a self-employed logger, working for Joe White and various other logging companies.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian E. Lemaire, on Oct. 26, 2001.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Narbon of Clifton Park; two sisters, Albertine Henri of Gatineau, Quebec, and Jeanne D'Arc Lagace of Elliott Lake, Ontario; and three brothers, Geff Lemaire of Armstrong, British Columbia, Albert Lemaire of Chelmsford, Ontario, and Vaudreuil Lemaire of Quebec. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 2nd, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga with The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, officiating. Mr. Lemaire's brother, Deacon Albert Lemaire, will concelebrate the Mass.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Brent Bevins Whitty

Ticonderoga — Brent Bevins Whitty, 54, of the Portage, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Burlington, Vt.

Born in Ticonderoga, July 11, 1950, he was the son of James R. and Shirley (Spring) Whitty of Ticonderoga.

Mr. Whitty was a lifetime resident of Crown Point and Ticonderoga and was a member of the Crown Point Methodist Church.

He was a graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1968. During high school, he was a member of the school band. Also, as a youth he participated in Boy Scouts and Little League.

He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for 36 years and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club. He was also a professional photographer.

Mr. Whitty was an avid hunter and a member of the N.R.A. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and at one time toured Russia. He also toured Ireland with his family on the International Whitty Clan Reunion.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, James R. and Shirley Whitty of Ticonderoga, include two sisters, Stephanie Haas and her husband Joseph of Frankford, Del., and Melissa Brand and her husband Rev. James Brand of Canton; and one brother, Craig Whitty and his wife Vickie of Findlay, Ohio. He is also survived by his close friend, Gail Gebo of Ticonderoga; and many aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. James Brand, brother-in-law of Brent and pastor of the Canton Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will take place at a later date at the family plot of the Union Cemetery of Moriah.

Michael Ernest Cliche

ONEONTA, N.Y. — Michael Ernest Cliche, 54, of Oneonta, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born July 3, 1950, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the son of Dennis Cliche and Gertrude (Chouquette) Cliche Beddie.

He married Marilyn Trombley on Jan. 31, 1970, in Mineville, N.Y.

Mike drove truck for Agway until his illness forced him to stop. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the sports of hunting, fishing and car racing. Known as "the jack of all trades," Mike was also a skilled carpenter and mechanic. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Mike was a loving and devoted father and was very fond of spending time with his family and friends. He was a friend to many and was always eager to lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by all that know him. The family cannot adequately express their appreciation for the care by all Mike's family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Cliche of Mineville; his loving son, Jeremy Cliche of Oneonta; his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Robert Cliche and his fianc้e Dorothy Whitcher of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Philip and Gloria Cliche of Waterford, Vt., Diane (Cliche) Florence of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Brian Beddie of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Paul and Sandy Beddie of Bennington, Vt., Linda and Cliff Ozzidi-Ombe of Edison, N.J., and William Beddie of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; his father-in-law, Edmund Trombley; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael was predeceased by his son, Glenn Cliche; his father, Dennis Cliche; his mother, Gertrude Beddie; his stepfather, Richard Beddie; his brother, Jimmy Lawrence Beddie; and his mother-in- law, Elsie Trombley.

Calling hours were held on Thursday at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 28th, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Harland Funeral Home, 45 South Main St., Port Henry, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at noon in the Church of All Saints, Mineville, N.Y. Burial will be held in the spring in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moriah.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in loving memory of Michael Ernest Cliche.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta and Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry.

Angelo Repas, 88, of Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 26, 1916, son of the late Peter G. and Helen (Lolos) Repas.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Desibris officiating. Burial will be later in the year in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Theresa E. Merchant, 87, of Rouses Point, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.

Charles W. Grimshaw Jr., 82, of West Main Street, Chateaugay, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1922, the son of Charles and Charlotte (Gillette) Grimshaw Sr.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Spring burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Loretta M. Bull, 91, of McIntosh Drive, Peru, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in AuSable Forks, July 1, 1913, the daughter of Carl Sr. and Lena (Lynch) Bull.

Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. William Reamer celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Michael A. Silver, 57, of the Peasleeville Road, Schuyler Falls, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on July 7, 1947, the son of Ronald and Esther (LaPorte) Silver.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.
