Published: 3/21/05Corrinne E. StanilkaTICONDEROGA — Corrinne E. Stanilka, 78, of Ticonderoga, passed away after a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer, at the Inter-Lakes Health Nursing Home in Ticonderoga on Sunday, March 20, 2005. Born in Ticonderoga, April 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Taylor) May. Mrs. Stanilka spent her youth in Graphite at the family home with her parents and her sister Betty (Mrs. William Stone). In August, 1942, she married Benjamin E. Stanilka and raised nine children. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She enjoyed sitting in her Gazebo and watching her flowers and the birds. She loved listening to music and singing along with her favorite songs. She enjoyed doing things with her family, going shopping and on trips to Maine. She will be painfully missed. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Benjamin Stanilka; three daughters, Joan Stanilka of Burlington, Vt., Mary Connors and her husband Tim of Ticonderoga, and Carol Duquette and her companion Larry Clifford of Hampton Beach, NH; six sons, Benjamin Stanilka, Jr. of Ticonderoga, Thomas Stanilka and his wife Becky of Cadyville, NY, Timothy Stanilka of Ticonderoga; Francis Stanilka of Plattsburgh, Edward Stanilka and his wife Catherine of Lake George, and John Stanilka of Stewart, Florida and Ticonderoga. She is also survived by her sister Betty Stone and her husband William of Ticonderoga; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her first grandson, Timothy Taylor Stanilka II. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Corrinne’s life will be held in the spring at the time of the interment. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga Theresa DragoonALTONA — Theresa Dragoon, 70, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Josephine LaFountain Boulerice of Mooers. Theresa graduated from Mooers Central School with the New York State Bauch and Lomb Science Award and was valedictorian of her senior class. She pursued her education at Plattsburgh State University, earning a five-year degree in School Nurse Teaching. Theresa was a school nurse/teacher for 38 years, employed by local schools, primarily at Northern Adirondack Central School. Sports were an interest of Theresa’s. She was the director of the Sciota Youth Commission for 14 years. Theresa enjoyed attending sporting events involving her grandchildren and watching the New York Knicks on television. She spent leisure time playing cards or reading. Survivors include her husband, Weldon Dragoon of Altona; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Dragoon of Altona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Todd Blondo of Altona and Lisa and Mark Brothers of Chazy. Her grandchildren include Benjamin, Kimberly, Kayla and Nicholas Dragoon; Ryan and Trevor Blondo; and Justin and Zachary Brothers. Theresa’s brothers and sisters are Alfred Boulerice, Armand Boulerice, Arthur Boulerice, Jeanette Rowe and Toni Kerr. A brother and sister, Francis Boulerice and Lenora Gallop, predeceased Theresa. Calling hours will be held today, March 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot. A reception will follow at Holy Angels Hall in Altona. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Altona Fire Department and Rescue squad. Loyal R. CayeaCHAMPLAIN — Loyal R. Cayea, 67, of Main Street, Champlain, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Altona on Jan. 9, 1938, the son of Raymond and Roxie (Rabideau) Cayea. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a farmer for many years. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Burdo) Cayea of Champlain; his children, Glen R. Cayea, Erin Cayea, both of Champlain; Loyal Cayea Jr., Colin Cayea and Debbie Sparks, all of Florida; Candy Cayea of Haverhill, Mass.; his mother-in-law, Evalina Burdo of Ellenburg; two sisters, Mildred Willette of Rouses Point and Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) LaCount of Mooers; a sister-in-law, Leila Cayea of Ellenburg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His parents; two brothers, Edward and Richard Cayea; and a sister, Theresa Harris, all died earlier. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. IRENE B. YANDO, 94, of Johnson Road in Malone, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. Born in Constable on Oct. 23, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Mary Dumas Coburn. There are no calling hours. A day and time for funeral services will be announced through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone at a later date. MERTON DICKSON, 83, of Fox Farm Road, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be later this spring in Point au Roche Cemetery. A full obituary will appear in Tuesday’s Press-Republican. LAURENCE W. MALLETTE SR., age 76, of State Route 11, Malone, died Sunday morning, March 20, 2005, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, where he had been a patient since April 2003. Born in Malone, on May 14, 1928, he was the son of the late William A. and Rosina Trombley Mallette. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are through the Braso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone. |
