Published: 3/20/05Dorothy M. CaronPlattsburgh — Mrs. Dorothy M. Caron, 84, of Flynn Avenue, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Henriette, Minn., on Aug. 4, 1920, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Goltz) Streed. Dorothy worked at Social Security Administration and retired as a field rep. Dorothy was the secretary to Caron Electric Motors for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish, served as the Regent for the Daughters of Isabella, president of the Our Lady of Victory Rosary Society, past president of the American Legion Post 1623 Ladies Auxiliary, past president of the Clinton County American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy was on the advisory committee for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; she was queen of the Plattsburgh Bicentennial celebration, Battle of Plattsburgh. She enjoyed visiting with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by four children, Joanne Clark of Glen Mills, Pa., Elaine Conway of Orlando, Fla., Thomas Caron and his wife Sandy of Plattsburgh and Lorraine Young of Peru; a brother, Vincent Streed and his wife Joanne of Minneapolis, Minn.; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred G. "Bill" Caron. They were married in 1944; Bill died in 1983. She was also predeceased by a sister, Gladys Peterson. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 20, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, March 21, 2005, at noon from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later this spring in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of Clinton County Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided. Donations in Dorothy's name may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church Building Fund. Elsie M. ManorPLATTSBURGH — Elsie M. Manor, 73, of Alford Boulevard, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on June 21, 1931, the daughter of Edmund and Maryette (Rock) Annis. Elsie married Albert Manor. Albert died in 1981. Mrs. Manor was the Woman's League Homeland Treasurer of the Salvation Army and also a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Manor of Plattsburgh; one brother, Edmund Annis Jr. of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Margaret Walker of Peru, Etta Farley of Queensbury, N.Y., and Anna Everheart of Catskills, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Donald, Floyd, Limewood and Theodore Annis; and three sisters, Mildred Rock, Loretta Annis and Shirley Keysor. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. 12 noon at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Ingraham Cemetery in Chazy. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Mary Alice Albrecht BuckPLATTSBURGH — Mary Alice Albrecht Buck of 40 Cumberland Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., died at her home on March 18, 2005. She was born in Green Island, N.Y., on Feb. 10, 1915, the daughter of Dr. Henry F. Albrecht and Mary Alice (Quinn) Albrecht. She attended Catholic High in Troy, N.Y., and was graduated from Trinity College, Washington, DC. She taught at the Heatly School in Green Island until her marriage on Aug. 24, 1944, to Robert L. Buck. After her husband's commission in the Navy ended, they returned to Plattsburgh where she resided for 60 years. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert Buck on June 20, 1981; and two brothers, Dr. Henry F. Albrecht and Dr. Robert M. Albrecht. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Susan Coffey and her husband James and two children, Louis H. Buck and his wife Nora and three children, Robert L. Buck Jr. and his wife Susan and their three children, Barbara Collin and her husband David and three children, Stephanie Mary Buck and her companion Rita MacDonald and Jonathan Michael Buck. There will be no calling hours and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh on Monday, March 21, 2005, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to St. John's Church, Hospice of the North Country or Adirondack Animal Shelter. Eileen M. LaDucSTAR LAKE, N.Y. — Eileen M. LaDuc, 78, Star Lake, N.Y., died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Clifton-Fine Hospital in Star Lake, after a long illness. Born Jan. 29, 1927, in Rockland, Ontario, daughter of Percy and Simone Boileau (Chatelain), both deceased. Eileen graduated from Newton Falls Union School in 1944 and from Central City Business Institute, Syracuse, N.Y., in 1947. She married Carroll J. LaDuc of Harrisville on Jan. 31, 1948, Father William Bourbeau officiating. Mr. LaDuc was mine safety administrator for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation, Benson Mines and he and Eileen were married for 57 years. Eileen LaDuc was a homemaker, mother of five and catechism teacher. She retired on disability from her position as accounts clerk for Clifton Fine Medical Center, Star Lake in September 1989. She was a member and past officer of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Lions Club Auxiliary and the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, sightseeing and ceramics, but mostly she enjoyed family gatherings with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her five children, Linda M. LaDuc of Amherst, Mass., Stephen M. LaDuc of Star Lake, David P. LaDuc and his wife Rita Mitchell of Peru, Judith A. LaDuc of Saranac Lake and Mary LaDuc Farney and her husband Michael Farney of Watertown; two grandchildren, Troy Farney and Samantha E. LaDuc; two stepgrandchildren, Stacey Farney and Helen Mitchell; and three great-grandchildren, Delilah, Emma and Lukas, children of Samantha LaDuc and husband Thomas Kaufmann of Andover, Mass. Also surviving are her sister and three brothers, Cecile Chatelain Hosmer of Watertown, Maurice Chatelain and Leo Chatelain of Star Lake and Donald Chatelain, Oxon Hill, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hawley Funeral Home in Star Lake, N.Y., with funeral Mass to be held on Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Hubert’s Church, Star Lake, N.Y. Donations may be made to the Clifton-Fine Hospital and the Star Lake Fire and Rescue Squad. Elric J. RougeauPlattsburgh — Elric J. Rougeau, 46, of Shirley Avenue, Plattsburgh passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 29, 1958, son of Carlton and Barbara (Dubuque) Rougeau. Elric was the owner of Delta Office Products in Plattsburgh. He was a member of the District 3 Fire Department. Elric was a member of the Beekmantown Lions Club and the Knight's of Columbus Council 7271. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Elric is survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda (Latour) Rougeau of Plattsburgh; two children, Scott A. Rougeau of Plattsburgh and Tiffany M. Rougeau of Plattsburgh; his mother, Barbara Rougeau of Plattsburgh; a brother, Francis S. Rougeau and his girlfriend Nancy Jenkins of West Chazy; his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Pearl Latour of Peru; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna and Paul West of Morrisonville and Rick and Karen Latour of Plattsburgh; and some nieces and nephews. Elric was predeceased by his father, Carlton Rougeau; and a brother, Carlton Rougeau. Calling hours will be Monday, March 21, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service led by Rev. John Looby, pastor of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head will be held at 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations in Elric's memory may be made the FitzPatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Ralph L. NewshamPLATTSBURGH — Ralph L. Newsham, 77, of Holland Avenue, Plattsburgh died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 22, 1928, the son of Ralph C. and Marcella (Madon) Newsham. Mr. Newsham married the former Arlene Harada in Hawaii in 1948, she died in 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Mr. Newsham was a City of Plattsburgh fireman for 20 years, retiring in 1978 and also worked for Grand Union and Martin & Sons Auctioneers for over 25 years. Upon retiring, he took the job of City dog warden for several years. Survivors include a son, Arlan Newsham and his wife Mary of Highland, N.Y.; one daughter, Darlene Ozbun of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Lori Burts, Brian Newsham and his wife Marie, Michael Newsham and Katelyn Newsham; two great-grandchildren, Camden Burts and Jayden Garcia; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Kathleen Briggs died earlier. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the spring. Memorials in his memory, may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center. Katherine E. Howard, 73, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Florida Hospital in Deland. Manley, 92, a resident of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone since October of 2003, formerly of Willow Street, Malone, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the nursing home. She was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Jan. 10, 1913, the daughter of the late Alois and Caroline Amam Epple. Calling hours will be in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone on Monday, March 21 from 1 p.m. until time for funeral services at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rochester, N.Y., on Tuesday, at 2 p.m. June Marie Stearns, 73, formerly of Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, March 19, 2005, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. She was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on July 7, 1931, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (DeLosh) Duffy. Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A bible vigil will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May. Robert E. Champagne, 80, of County Route 25, Malone, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, where he had been a patient since Sunday. He was born in Malone, on Feb. 13, 1925, the son of the late Henry and Dora Brown Champagne. Calling hours will be in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, from 11 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 p.m. in Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring. |
