Frances E. "Mimi" LaPierre

Plattsburgh — Frances E. "Mimi" LaPierre, 84, of Monty Street, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Prattville Baptist Health Center in Prattville, Ala. Frances was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 7, 1920, daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Mousseau) Andrews.

Frances was the head of the Democratic Committee of Clinton County; she was a member of Bluff Point Golf and Country Club, club champion of Adirondack Golf, B flight; she was a retail salesperson in Plattsburgh, her last employment was the Dry Dock Lounge in Plattsburgh. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Frances enjoyed bowling, golf, gambling, reading, traveling and thoroughly enjoyed her large family.

Frances is survived by six children, James (Melanie) LaPierre of Dover Plains, Donna (Jimmie) Temar of Cincinnati, Ohio, Patricia Rabideau and special friend Janet Conklin of Canton, Rosie (Gene) Grothe of Prattville, Ala., Cheryl (Darryl) Smith of Prattville, Ala., and Susan Stefanick and her companion Billy Joe Leopard of Plattsburgh; 16 grandchildren, James and Michael LaPierre, Chris and Jimmie Temar, Missy Engelman, Jon, Cynthia and Kim Rabideau, Sandi Smith, Lori Noe, Bruce, Josh and Bradley Fisher, Carrie Brookshire, from all over the United States, Megan Cook from Schuyler Falls and her father, Donald Cook from Plattsburgh; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Burke of Plattsburgh; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gladys and Bill Wade of Peru, Bob and Pat LaPier of Plattsburgh; and all her friends at the Dry Dock.

Frances was predeceased by her husband, Frances E. LaPierre, on May 26, 1995; a grandson, Troy Temar on July 4, 1999; and a grandson, Danny Grothe.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

A reception will follow the funeral at the Dry Dock Lounge on U.S. Avenue in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice or to the family.

Ernest "Dick" Baughn

Chesapeake, Va. — Ernest "Dick" Baughn, 73, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005, in Chesapeake, Va.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of the late Albert Baughn and Emma Gebo Baughn. He was also predeceased by his sister, Laurina Ward and brother, Robert Baughn.

Mr. Baughn was a retired plumber and active member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 8240. He was also a past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, All Saints Assembly. Dick was a former alderman for the City of Plattsburgh from 1977 to 1982. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Victory parish in Plattsburgh and past president of the Holy Name Society. Later, Dick was a member of Northwest Chapel where he served as a Eucharist minister.

Mr. Baughn is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret A. "Peggy" Baughn; two daughters, Christine Baughn of Ellicott City, Md., and Mimi Sullivan and husband Joe of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Shane Gainer and wife Gina, Jessica Sullivan and Sara Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Lauren DeLong, Katie DeLong and Jonathan Sullivan; five brothers, Wesley, Albert Jr., Roland, Thomas (Leo) and Alan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Catholic Church of St. Stephen, Martyr. Rev. Jim Gordon will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow the service in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The Knights of Columbus will perform a Chalice Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends until 9 p.m. at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of the Catholic Church of St. Stephen, Martyr, 1544 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23322.

Patricia Ann Besson

Ticonderoga — Patricia Ann Besson, 73, of Third Avenue, Ticonderoga, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

Born in Stamford, Conn., Oct. 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Edwina (O'Toole) Davis.

Mrs. Besson was a graduate and earned her teaching degree at the University of Maine at Farmington, and recently attended her 50th year college reunion.

She married her husband, George Robert Besson on July 3, 1956.

Mrs. Besson had been a resident of Ticonderoga since 1956 and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga.

She was employed as a full-time teacher and later a substitute teacher for the Ticonderoga Central School District and St. Mary's School of Ticonderoga. She was also employed as manager of the Stone House Motel of Ticonderoga for 25 years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, George R. Besson; three sons, Alec John Besson of Phoenix, Ariz., Peter William Dean Besson of Ticonderoga and Francis Blaine Besson of Delray Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Margaret Alice McCollum of Delray Beach, Fla., and Tresha Mary Montbriand of Ticonderoga; and one sister, Wardie Atwood of New Portland, Maine. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christa Morse, Jennifer Morse, Renee McCollum, John Besson, Alec Besson, Christopher Besson, Anna Besson, Mathew Montbriand and Josiah Besson; and one niece.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary's School, 301 Amherst Avenue, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Adriana Archambault

AuSable Forks — Adriana "Sweetie" Archambault, 72, of Burt Street, AuSable Forks, passed away, after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Sweetie was born Dec. 1, 1932, in AuSable Forks, the daughter of Herbert and Irene (Rabitoy) Ano.

She was employed for several years at the Grand Union in AuSable Forks.

She was a lifetime resident of AuSable Forks.

Survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra and Mike Mussen of Keeseville and Sherry and Mike McCabe of Watertown; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Maureen Archambault of Port Kent; her companion, Adrian Furnia of AuSable Forks; a brother, Joseph Ano of Clintonville; two sisters, Marlene Dolaway of AuSable Forks and Elizabeth "Betty" Doyle of Keeseville; three grandchildren, John Mussen, Tristan Archambault and Jessie Collins; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Prayers will be private. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks.

Memorials to her may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service.

Arrangements are by the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home.

Beverly Jean Maloney

Pierson, Fla. — Beverly Jean Maloney, 71, died at her residence in Pierson, Fla., March 14, 2005, following an extended illness.

Born in Malone, N.Y., she had been a winter resident of Pierson for the past 17 years coming from New Russia, N.Y.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Robert Maloney.

She is survived by her husband, Bob A. Maloney of Pierson, Fla., and New Russia, N.Y.; daughters, Cathy Beaton of New Russia, N.Y., Darcy Hume of Pierson, Fla., and Amy Maloney of Forest Hills, Fla.; brothers, John Marlow of Bunnell, Fla., and Charlie Marlow of Malone, N.Y.; sisters, Terry Johnson of Vermont and Mary Hogeboon of Malone, N.Y.; two grandsons and two granddaughters.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home in Crescent City, Fla.

Lillian Burns, 97, of Montcalm Manor in Ticonderoga, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

She was born in March 30, 1907, in Vergennes, Vt.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

Richard G. LaPage, 59, of Catherine Street, Malone and formerly of Fort Covington, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He had been in failing health for quite some time.

He was born in Malone, on Oct. 8, 1945, the son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Gardner) LaPage.

Calling hours will be in the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Thursday in St. Mary's Church, Fort Covington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Robert J. Rivers, 71, of Spellman Road, Beekmantown, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on June 25, 1933, son of the late Henry and Mary (Scott) Rivers.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
