Diana L. Gonya

PLATTSBURGH — Diana L. Gonya, 60, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 8, 1945, the daughter of Stanley and Audrey (Anderson) Gonya.

Diana worked for Bow Industries for many years until she was disabled in the late 1980's.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and being with people, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person, always ready to help someone. Her friends at CVPH Medical Center where she was in the skilled nursing unit referred to her as "Queen Diana".

Survivors include three sons, Rick Bechore of Plattsburgh, Brian Bechore of Plattsburgh and Jason and Jennifer Gonya of West Chazy; one brother, Larnie Gonya of Plattsburgh; seven sisters, Ellen Bruno of Schuyler Falls, Kathleen Covel of Plattsburgh, Zana Furnia of Peasleeville, Janet Wood of Plattsburgh, Jeannie Buskey of Plattsburgh, Robin LaSalle of Saranac and Tammy Gonya of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Brian Bechore, Travis Bechore, Shawn Bechore, Azalea Gonya, Christian Gonya, Krystal Frederick and Brandon Frederick; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the spring in the West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Leona M. Bartlett

Kansas City, Mo. — Leona M. Bartlett, 90, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005 at New Mark Care Center.

Mrs. Bartlett was born Jan. 23, 1915, to Lesimer and Delvica (Masse) Meloche in St. Albert, Ontario Canada.

She grew up in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and graduated from Chazy Central High School in Chazy, N.Y., in 1932. After high school Leona married George T. Bartlett on Oct. 8, 1939. The couple was married for 59 years until his death in 1998.

Mrs. Bartlett was as a business companion with her husband's business ventures for many years. The couple renovated a home in Liverpool, N.Y., where they owned and operated it as a tourist home. After many years of running the tourist home, the couple retired to Fulton, N.Y. When Mr. Bartlett passed away Mrs. Bartlett moved to Kansas City and lived at Our Lady of Mercy in Liberty, Mo., to be near her daughter.

She was a very devout Catholic woman who had the Lord in her heart. Leona was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Moses Arroyo; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Forgette; and a nephew, Roland Fredette.

The family of Mrs. Bartlett would like to thank New Mark Care Center for their tender loving a care they gave to her, especially Tonja Trillin, her nurse. Well done my faithful servant, well done.

A memorial Mass of the Christian burial will be held at a later date in New York State. Mrs. Bartlett will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband in New York.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Merton L. Larmore Jr.

PORT HENRY — Merton L. Larmore Jr., 67, of Tobey Street, Port Henry, N.Y., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the

Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, Vt.

He was born April 30, 1937 ,in Everett, Mass., the son of Merton Sr. and Marguerite (Jennings) Larmore.

Merton is survived by his wife, Mary (Card) Larmore of Port Henry; his sons, Arthur Larmore of Flagler Beach, Fla., Robert Larmore of New Milford, Conn., Ralph Larmore of Canaan, Conn., Michael Larmore of Port Henry and Merton Larmore III of Mineville; his daughters, Mary Jane VonWingelo of Canaan, Conn., Cindy Measles of New Milford, Conn., Carol Palmer of Falls Village, Conn., and Linda Larmore of Port Henry, N.Y.; a brother, Ralph Larmore of Port Henry, N.Y.; 80 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his son, William Larmore.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be conducted at a date to be announced.

Arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, N.Y.

Margaret C. Rivers

Beartown — Margaret C. Rivers, 82, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born in Plattsburgh on March 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Frank and Laura (Rabideau) Reyell.

Margaret married William V. Rivers on Nov. 15, 1941. Together, they ran a dairy farm. She also worked from 1954 to 1980 at Beekmantown Central School, retiring as school lunch manager.

She was very active with the church, having been former president of the altar rosary society at St. Alexander's and St. Joseph's Church.

Margaret was famous for her cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and David LaMora of Plattsburgh and Joan and Robert Banker of Peasleeville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Eleanor Light of Beartown and Kenneth and Joyce Franks of Cadyville; a sister, Violet Sanger of Chazy; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Janice Reyell of West Chazy; sisters-in-law, Bess Reyell of Beartown and Shirley Reyell of Peru; her grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Murphy of Beartown, Liza (Kyle) Reif of Stillwater, Christina (Chris) Lagree, Bill Light Jr. and Nicole Light, all of Beartown, Bruce, Barry, Bart (Grace), Brent (Lori), Robbie (Yvonne) and Bobbi Jo Banker; her great-grandchildren, Kristi and Matt Lashway and Sarah Rose Lagree; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Bill died on Dec. 1, 1994. Her parents and two brothers, Norris and Albert Reyell, also died before her.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday from St. Joseph's Church in Treadwell Mills at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Alexander's Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Country.

Flora I. Jordan, 83, of Fisher Hill, Mineville, N.Y., died Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Witherbee, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Anna (McGraw) Straight.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring.

Arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, N.Y.

Titus — Mass of Christian burial for Verla M. Titus, 85, of Burke who died on March 3, 2005, at Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone, N.Y., were held at St. Patrick's Church on March 7, 2005, at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Demo officiating. Organist was Danielle Laravia with Liz Guerin as the soloist. Pallbearers were John Carley Jr., Steven, Thomas and Rick Carley, John Sidor and Corey LaBare. The pall was placed on her casket by Sandy Sidor. Readings were done by Gerry Sidor. Gifts presented by John Carley and Sandy Sidor. Spring burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone. Arrangements were with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
