Published: 03/05/05Verla M. TitusBurke — Verla M. Titus, 85, of Burke, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y., where she had been a patient since June 9, 2004. Born in Bellmont, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1919, she was the daughter of Dominic and Helen (Legacy) Sorell. She was married to Roderick "Bill" Titus on Nov. 19, 1941, in St. George's Church by Rev. Ross Garnesey. He predeceased her on May 30, 1994. Mrs. Titus is survived by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bruce and Hazel LaBare of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, including John and Ann Carley of Burke, with whom she made her home; and 12 godchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Muriel and Calvin Praire and Rita and Edwin Carley; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Stanley Sorell and Richard and Rita Sorell. Mrs. Titus was employed at various places including the Hollywood Inn as a waitress for 10 years, the dress factory and Newberry Store in Malone. She was a communicant of St. Jude's Church, Brainardsville and the prayer group. She was very active in the church, taught religion classes and dressed the altar with flowers at St. Jude's. She was an over 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters where she was Regent and held all of the offices at one time. She was also a former Home Bureau member. Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, March 6th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 7th, in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. John Demo of St. Patrick's Church officiating. Spring burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery, Malone. Larry R. PlumadoreSARANAC — Larry R. Plumadore, 51, of Strackville Road, Saranac, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, following a nearly four-year battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 2, 1954. He is survived by his mother, Mary Gero of Cadyville; his sons, Patrick, Dale, Derrick and Ryan; his sisters, Marilyn Velie of Saranac, Tammy Eaton and Brenda Shook of Dannemora; his brothers, Richard of Cadyville and Steve of Dannemora. He was predeceased by his father, Henry Plumadore Jr., who died in 1970. A Mass was celebrated at Assumption of Mary Church in Redford on Feb. 10, 2005, by Rev. Father Philip Allen and Father Frank Coryer. Pallbearers were Ted Newell, Mike Ahern, Chad Loope, Colin Plumadore, Stacy Plumadore and Lee Plumadore. Donald Francis GoodellNew Milford, Conn. — Donald Francis Goodell, 69, of Orchard Heights, New Milford, Conn., died March 1, 2005, at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Marie (Cayea) Goodell. Mr. Goodell was born June 6, 1935, in Ellenburg Center, N.Y., son of the late Walter and Emma (Tacey) Goodell. He was the founder and president of Circle Asphalt Paving for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He formerly raced stock cars for the SNYRA at Danbury Fairgrounds. He later owned and promoted racing cars at several race tracks in Connecticut. He was a member of the New Milford Lions Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles. In addition to his wife, Mr. Goodell is survived by two sons, Joseph Goodell and Donald Goodell, both of New Milford; a brother, Richard Goodell of Ellenburg Center, N.Y.; two sisters, Janice Murphy of Vancouver, Wash., and Pauline Fatata of Utica, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Samuel and Donald Goodell. Calling hours were held on Friday at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in New Milford. Contributions in his memory may be made to New Milford Hospital Cancer Center, 21 Elm St., New Milford CT 06776. Joseph P. Graham, 69, died March 1, 2005, at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt., after a brief illness. He was born July 22, 1935, in Moriah, N.Y., the son of the late Leo and Alice (Searles) Graham. A funeral service was held on Friday at the Ducharme Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church in Salem, N.Y. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton. Arrangements were under the direction of the Ducharme Funeral Home, Inc., of Castleton, Vt. Leona Premo, 93, formerly of 215 Elm St., Malone, N.Y., died Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena, N.Y., where she had been a patient since Feb. 18th. She had been a resident of the Highland Nursing Home in Massena since March 13, 2000. She was born in Worcester, Mass., on Dec. 7, 1911, the daughter of the late William and Eva (Primeau) Premo. Calling hours will be Monday from noon until 1:15 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery in North Bangor, N.Y., in the spring. Russell J. Zielinski, 46, of South Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 8, 1958, the son of Rupert and Marilyn (Moomey) Zielinski. Calling hours and funeral arrangements are with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home and are incomplete as of Friday evening. Michael L. "Mike" Abelson, 42, of Parkside Trail, Clifton Park, N.Y., died suddenly on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany after taking ill while playing hockey. He was born on March 17, 1962, in Nashua, N.H., the son of Norman Abelson of Wells, Maine, and the late Dina (Lipson) Abelson. A celebration of his life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt 9 in Clifton Park. Words of Remembrance will begin at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in New Hampshire this spring for both Mike and his Mom. |
