Joseph A. Hogan Jr.

Magnolia, Del. — U.S. Air Force Major (Retired) Joseph A. Hogan Jr., 63, of Magnolia, Del., died Feb. 27, 2005.

He was born July 29, 1941, in Springfield, Mass., son of the late Joseph and Corene Hogan.

Mr. Hogan was a graduate of Cathedral High School and St. Michael’s University, Winooski, Vt. In 1978, he received an MBA from the University of Central Michigan.

He was a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam. Following a 20 year distinguished career, Joe transferred his services as a U.S. government civilian employed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, New York and Dover, Del.

Mr. Hogan’s hobbies included computers, camping, travel and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen I. Hogan; a son, Major Timothy J. Hogan of Ramstein Air Base, Germany; a daughter, Debra L. Kurzhals of Pearl River, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Brock, Mitchell and Meredith Hogan, and Jake and Kayla Kurzhals.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dover Air Force Base Chapel 2, Dover, Del.

Burial with full military honors will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund, c/o John and Debra Kurzhals, 15 Moore Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, Del.

Eleanor E. Kelly, 63, of Camel Court, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly, Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since Feb. 26.

She was born in Malone, Aug. 5, 1941, the daughter of the late Leonard and Eva (Perreault) Tavernia.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. George's Church in Burke, N.Y., with the Rev. John Demo officiating. Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery in Burke in the spring.
