Published: 2/24/05Eleanor R. SloanWestport, NY — Eleanor R. Sloan, 97, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Moses Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, N.Y. She was a resident of the Capital District most of her life. A retiree from the NYS Department of Labor, wife (widow) of the late Robert R. Sloan. Mother of John C. Black of Westport, N.Y., Geraldine B. Kirpens of Clifton Park, N.Y., and the late Douglas R. Black. Also stepson Robert D. Sloan of Binghamton, N.Y.; sister of C. Donald Rehm of Melrose and the late Ralph U. and Harold R. Rehm of Wyantskill, N.Y. Survived by seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand-children; two nieces; and one nephew. A private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family for Mr. and Mrs. Sloan who had been married 51 years when Mr. Sloan was deceased on April 20, 1995, in Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Northeastern Association for the Blind, Albany, N.Y. Vincent CaporaleHAWTHORNE, NY — Vincent Caporale, 64, of Hawthorne, N.Y., died on Feb. 23, 2005, at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. He was born on July 6, 1940, to Peter and Olive (nee Curtis) Caporale in White Plains, N.Y. Vincent served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. He was a systems analyst for Bayer Corporation. in Tarrytown, N.Y., retiring in 1992. Vincent was a member of the American Legion Post 504 in AuSable, N.Y., and a former member of the Hawthorne Fire Co. 1 and a member of the Benevolent Association. He is survived by his wife, Rita (nee Weiss) Caporale of Hawthorne, N.Y.; one son, Curt Caporale and his wife Melissa of Orlando, Fla.; and one daughter, Traci Belliveau and her husband George of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; two brothers, Ray Caporale of Essex Junction, Vt., and Peter Caporale of Queensbury, N.Y. and John Day of Colorado Springs, Colo.; also survived by three grandchildren, Thomas, Victoria and Daniel Belliveau. Predeceased by one daughter, Kristina Marie Caporale in 1971. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Where funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave. Hawthorne, N.Y., would be appreciated. Shannon M. Stefanowicz, 18, of the Burns-Holden Road in Fort. Covington, died suddenly, Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt. Born in Malone, N.Y., on June 18, 1986, she is the daughter of Stanley "Mike" and Wilma (Rolland) Stefanowicz. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Fort. Covington. A reception will follow in St. Mary's Parish Center immediately following the Mass. Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home of Ft. Covington. TIMOTHY M. BURKE, 57, of Webster Street, Malone, N.Y., died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center. Born March 16, 1947, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., he was the son of Martin and Josephine (Harding) Burke. Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Malone, N.Y. Spring burial will take place in Holy Name Cemetery, AuSable Forks, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc. Ruth M. LaPierre, 94, of Academy Street, West Chazy, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.
