Published: 2/14/05Adrian BakerMERRILL — Adrian "Din" Baker, 87, of Blanche Road, Merrill, died Feb. 10, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Born in Sciota on Aug. 25, 1917, he was the son of Walter and Anna (Sorrell) Baker. He was married to Gladys Nelson Baker on April 26, 2002, in Brainardsville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Eleanor Bellows. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, of Merill; three stepchildren, Russell and Charlotte Nelson of Malone, Timothy and Nancy Nelson of Orlando, Fla., and Jean and LeRoy Hoff of Eagle River, Ark.; two brothers, Paul Baker of Lyon Mountain and Andy and Mildred Baker of Chateaugay Lake; four sisters, Bernice and Thomas Trottier of Merrill, Theresa and Richard Fitzgerald of Massena, Marion and Wilbur Burdo of Cadyville, and Vivian and Rowland Fournier of Ellenburg Depot; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Beatrice Gonyea and Rayaw Pepin; and a brother, Lawrence Baker. Baker served in the U.S. Army from July 15, 1941, to Oct. 27, 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He was employed by Republic Steel in Lyon Mountain, then Mineville. Calling hours were held at Lyon Mountain Funeral Home (St. Bernard’s Convent) on Sunday; funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lyon Mountain Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Davis of the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will take place at Lyon Mountain Protestant Cemetery in Lyon Mountain. Donations in his memory may be made to Lyon Mountain Fire and Rescue. Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home. Dwayne J. CrossWILLSBORO — Dwayne J. Cross, 82, died at his home on Station Road Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005. He was born in Westport, the son of Sidney and Lorraine (Coonrod) Cross on Jan. 19, 1923. In his younger years Mr. Cross worked as a farmer and in his later years he worked as a carpenter for Wardner Hathaway. He was a member of the Willsboro Fish and Game Club. He is survived by his wife Mary (Mitchell) Cross, his children Cindy and her husband Joseph Brady of Park City, Mont., Dwayne Jr. and his wife Gail Cross of Johnstown, N.Y., his grandchildren Austin Brady and Shelley Melious and a nephew, Bill Cross. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Elmer Cross. Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro, Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held the same day at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Eileen Deming officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Memorial Cemetery on Lakeshore Road in Willsboro. ALICE M. LAFLEUR, 78, of 70 Sawyer Ave., Malone, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, where she had been a resident. Born in Fort Covington on Dec. 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Doris Bashaw Allen. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Brusco-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone, in the spring. |
