Published: 02/05/05Patricia A. RiversPlattsburgh — Patricia A. Rivers, 62, of Oliver Court, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 17, 1942, daughter of George M. and Marie C. (Rabideau) Giroux. Pat was a loving wife and mother. She was a substitute teacher in the Plattsburgh City School District. She loved family gatherings, tending her flowers and playing cards. She had a special way with children. Pat is survived by her husband, Walter J. Rivers, of Plattsburgh; they were married on July 11, 1964, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru; two daughters, Karen (Greg) Myers of West Chazy and Kathryn (Joseph) Rector of Plattsburgh; three sons, James (Kimberly) Rivers of Ledyard, Conn., Matthew Rivers of Plattsburgh and Michael Rivers of Plattsburgh; her father, George M. Giroux of Peru; six sisters and six brothers, Helen (Kent) Millspaugh of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Dubuque of Nashville, Tenn., Dianne (Dana) Davis of Peru, Gloria Douglass of Plattsburgh, Jocelyn (Randy) Corkum of Yarmouth, Maine, Theresa (Terry) Daly of South Burlington, Vt., George (Mary Ellen) Giroux of Scotia, N.Y., Thomas (Charlotte) Giroux, The Villages, Fla., John (Susan) Giroux of Morrisonville, Paul (Jean) Giroux of Milford, N.Y., William (Janet) Giroux of Peru, and Gary (Paula) Giroux of Cortland, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Tyler, Kaden Myers, Emily, Alyssa Rector, Nicholas and Sara Rivers; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Saturday, Feb. 5th, and Sunday, Feb. 6th, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 7th, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Treadwells Mills. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donations in Pat's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Church in Treadwells Mills or for Masses in her name. Rose Marie HallockTiconderoga — Rose Marie Hallock, 56, of Ticonderoga, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at her residence. Born in Ticonderoga, May 24, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Crossman) Holman. Mrs. Hallock was a lifetime Ticonderoga resident and a friend to many people. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 224 of Ticonderoga. She was very devoted to the organization and was involved in helping children in the area and also veterans serving in Iraq. She was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1494 of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas St. Andrews and also her second husband, Raymond Hallock. Survivors include three sons, Thomas E. Holman of Ticonderoga, Charles F. Holman of Port Henry and Raymond D. Holman of Crown Point; one daughter, Eva M. St. Andrews of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Richard Holman of Whitehall and Robert Holman of Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Linda Holman and Janice Holman, both of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A memorial service will follow on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 224, Montcalm Street, Ticonderoga, New York 12883. Marie EksethCrown Point — Marie Ekseth, 83, of Crown Point, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Milton, Vt., Jan. 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Origene and Julia (Maynerd) Nadeau. Mrs. Ekseth was a resident of Crown Point since 1975. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church of Crown Point. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Oed Ekseth. There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Crown Point. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. Norman V. Bezio Jr., 63, died Dec. 10, 2004, at the Pontiac Nursing Home, Pulaski, N.Y. He was born on June 26, 1941, in Plattsburgh, the son of the late Norman V. Sr. and Violet (Thompson) Bezio. A funeral was held on Dec. 13th at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home in Pulaski. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Pulaski in the spring. Sherri P. Heikkinen, 58, died Jan. 1, 2005, in Lancaster, Calif. She was born on Sept. 23, 1946, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late Norman V. Sr. and Violet (Thompson) Bezio. Funeral services were held on Jan. 6, 2005, at the Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, Lancaster, Calif. Ruth A. Milne, 73, of Tupper Lake, died at her home on Feb. 3, 2005. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune - Keough-Rennell Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May. |
