Published: 2/1/05Melvina A. (Rock) TrudeauTiconderoga — Melvina A. (Rock) Trudeau, 88, of Ticonderoga passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Peru, N.Y., Aug. 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (LaPann) Rock. Mrs. Trudeau was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Mary's 794 of Ticonderoga. She and her husband, Louis Trudeau owned and operated the Gibson House & Motel for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband, Louis died before her on April 12, 1978. She was also predeceased by three sons, Richard Trudeau, Donald Trudeau and Howard Trudeau; and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Nancy) Streeter. Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Trudeau of San Francisco, Calif., and Norman J. Trudeau of Ticonderoga and Florida; one daughter, Mrs. James (Jean) McKee of Ticonderoga; and one sister, Margaret Falcone of Peru. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and
friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox
& Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. The
recitation of the rosary by the Catholic Daughters will take place
Wednesday evening, 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated Thursday, 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic
Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Barry Lonergan will officiate. The Rite

BoireCHAZY — Orel A. Boire, 77, of North Farm Road, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Point Au Roche on May 21, 1927, the son of Alexander and Amelia (Tetreault) Boire. Mr. Boire married Theresa Grimshaw on Sept. 24, 1949, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. He served in the United States Army during and after the Korean War. Orel was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy and a member of the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. He was an electrician for the Chazy Central Rural School District. Orel enjoyed time with his family, gardening, woodworking and traveling. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Theresa; four children and their spouses, Cecile and Charles Miller of Barto, Pa., Gary and Linda Boire of Baldwin, Long Island, N.Y., Susan and Samuel Mercier of Highland, N.Y., and Julie and Timothy Duprey of Chazy; six brothers and sisters, Donald Boire of West Chazy, Marcel and Joyce Boire of Altona, Madeline and Donald Favreau of Chazy, Germaine Giles of Seffner, Fla., Gabriel and Marie Boire of Westboro, Mass., and Arthur and Jeanne Boire of Point Au Roche; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Boire of Plattsburgh and Rose Boire of Beekmantown; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, John, Leo, Lorretta, Louis, Gloria and Roger. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department. Hilda SmithWestport — Hilda (Hammond) Smith, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown. She was born May 27, 1909, in Ellenburg, N.Y., the daughter of Moss and Celia (Pelkey) Hammond. Hilda was a member of the Westport Federated Church for 66 years, the Daughters of the American Revolution, a past member of the Ladies Guild of Westport Federated Church, a member of the Senior Circle and the planning board for Pulaski Academy Central School, Pulaski, N.Y. She enjoyed reading the Bible and readings of Helen Steiner Rice. She and her husband, Richard, enjoyed the company of children and would offer a helping hand whenever needed. In 1979, they were recognized for their good work with young people. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Gracie and Bill Drummond of Essex, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Gordon Sherman of Westport, N.Y.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Rosemary Smith of Northfield, Vt., Edward and DeDe Smith of Westport, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, Phillip Sherman of Plattsburgh, Jerrold Sherman of Westport, David Sherman of Princeton, N.J., Nancy Sherman of Westport, Richard Smith of Montpelier, Vt., Edward Smith of Winooski, Vt., Gloria Smith of Vinalhaven, Maine, Kandance Smith of Norfolk, Va., Christopher Smith of Chesapeake, Va., Laurence Smith of New York, N.Y., Kathryn Smith and Bryan Smith both of Norfolk, Va.; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at W.M. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. Arthur Innis PinkertonRiver Isles Bradenton, Fla. — Arthur (Alexander) Innis Pinkerton, formerly of Peru, N.Y., passed away Jan. 23, 2005, in River Isles Bradenton, Fla. Arthur was born on Dec. 13, 1922, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Violet( Denniston) Pinkerton and Alexander Pinkerton. Arthur was a former resident of Ridgefield, N.J., AuSable River, Peru, N.Y., and currently of River Isles Bradenton, Fla. He married Ruth Turner on July 11, 1945, in Schuyler Falls, N.Y. They were married for 50 years before her death on Sept. 13, 1995. He was employed by Keuffel and Esser Company, Morristown, N.J., as marketing mangager. He was also a member of Keuffel and Esser "Old Guard", member of United Airlines 100,000 mile club, a member of American Congress Surveying and Mapping, a member of American Society of Tool Manufacturing Engineers, a member of Laser Industry Association, secretary of Dominican College Father's Club and a life-time member of the Ridgefield, N.J., American Legion Post 221 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was chariman of the Board of Adjustments in Ridgefield. He was the former president and vice-president of the Ridgefield Republican Association and member of the Board of Trustees. He was a former councilman of Ridgefield, N.J., and former president of the River Isles Golf Association. He received his education at Stevens Institute of Technology and earned additional credits at St. Peter's College and Newark College of Engineering. He was a World War II veteran and served with the 8th Air Force, he had 30 combat missions and was awarded the Distinquished Flying Cross, 5 Air Medals and E.O.T. Medal with 5 battle stars. He is survived by four loving children, Dr. Sandra Ruth Pinkerton of Fort Lee, N.J., Robert and Mary Pinkerton of Paramus, N.J., Jane (Pinkerton) Donahue and Mark Donahue of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Laureen (Pinkerton) Hotchkiss and Greg Hotchkiss of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; six grandchildren, Patrick Donahue of Indianapolis Ind., Elizabeth and Colin Donahue of Plattsburgh, N.Y., SPC Brian Donahue, Fort Campbell, Ky., Kristin (Pinkerton) Treeman and Eric Treeman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Corinne Pinkerton, Paramus, N.J. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margaret (Pinkerton) Barry of Bradenton Fla., and formerly of Matawan, N.J., and Mrs. Barbara (Pinkerton) Perino and her husband Joe of Mahwah, N.J. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a great-grandson who is expected on Feb. 20, 2005. He is predeceased by his sister, Violet McCabe; and his parents. A funeral service was held at Brown and Sons in Bradenton, Fla., on Jan. 27, 2005. His cremated remains will be buried in Schuyler Falls Cemetery at a later date. Beatrice Margaret ThomasWitherbee, N.Y. — Beatrice Margaret Thomas, 66, died at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt., on Nov. 5, 2004. She was born in Port Henry, N.Y., on Feb. 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Margaret Marian (LaWare) and Thomas Joseph Gador. Ill most of her adult life, she was a women of courage and quite endurance. She was predeceased in death by her stepson, Boyd Thomas of Gardiner, Maine. She is survived by a son, Adrian John Thomas; and a granddaughter, Genevieve Elizabeth Thomas both of Winthrop, Maine; and by her caretaker, friend and husband, Jack of Witherbee, N.Y., and Alder Strenm, Maine. Her remains were cremated to await the death of her husband, Jack, and their ashes will be placed together in Alder Strenm, Maine. Funeral arrangements were made by Stephen Gregory Cremation Services in Shelburne, Vt. KATHLEEN M. PICKREIGN, 83, of the Franklin County Nursing Home died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at that facility. She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Maurice and Helana Hubley Slauenwhite. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted in the Franklin County Nursing Home at the convenience of the family. Spring burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc. Gloria M. Debyah, 54, of Finney Road, Burke, N.Y., died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y., She had been in ill health. She was born in Carmel, N.Y., April 13, 1950, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Barrett) Smith. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chris LaRose officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Malone in the spring. |
