Published: 1/27/05Lily Belle PeckLake Placid — Lily Belle Peck, 90, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid. She was born April 3, 1914, in Wilmington, the daughter of George Irving Hardy Jr. and Paulina (William) Hardy. Lily was a lifelong resident of the North Country, except for supporting the war effort during World War II, when she lived in Springfield, Mass., working in an airplane factory. After this she returned to this area and worked for several years at the Lake Placid Club. On Dec. 27, 1944, she married Roy E. Peck. They traveled extensively and two of the highlights were their trips to Prince Edward Island and to Arizona. Her husband and the following siblings predeceased her, Donald J. Hardy, Kitty Watson, Joyce Ormsby, Amos Hardy, Albert Hardy and Philip Hardy. Lily loved the village of Upper Jay and was a member of the Upper Jay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed membership in the Wilmington Pal Club. She loved her home, enjoyed gardening and having her family around. She also enjoyed her dogs and cats. She is survived by many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. We will miss her happy spirit and beautiful smile. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to High Peaks Hospice or Uihlein Mercy Center. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Pilgrims Holiness Church, Lake Placid and burial will be at a later date in Jay Central Cemetery, Jay. Jody Carlton Hogle Sr.PELION, S.C. — Mr. Hogle, 44, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., he was the son of Darrel W. Hogle, Sr. and Margaret (Peggy) Chevalier Hogle of West Columbia, S.C. He was employed with Epting’s Distributors. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann Hogle of Pelion, S.C.; son, Jody Carlton Hogle Jr. of Pelion, S.C.; parents, of West Columbia, S.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Darrel W. Hogle Jr. and Carolyn Hogle of Gaston, S.C.; sister, Tina Hogle of Gaston, S.C.; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Jeannette McDowell of Gaston, S.C.; sister-in-law, Tina Floyd of Gaston, S.C.; four nephews; and three nieces. Mr. Hogle was preceded in death by a brother, Larry C. Hogle Sr. Memorial services for Jody Carlton Hogle, Sr. will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Caughman-Harman funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with visitation following the service. Barbara R. MoodyMaynard, Mass. — Barbara R. (Desautels) Moody, 56, of Great Road, Maynard, Mass., and formerly of the Plattsburgh area, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Mass., after an illness. She was born in Malone, N.Y., daughter of the late Alfred and Rose (Smart) Desautels. She was the wife of Gary J. Moody. They were married in Plattsburgh in 1968. She was a graduate of D’youville, Academy in 1966. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, David Moody; two daughters, Lynn Moody and Lori Moody, all of Maynard, Mass.; four brothers, Alfred Desautels Jr. and his wife Donna of Riverview, Fla., Peter and his wife Sandy Desautels of Oswego, N.Y., Alex Desautels of Ocala, Fla. and William and his wife Jennifer Desautels of Buffalo, N.Y.; five sisters, Patricia Carr and her husband William, Jean Rascoe and her husband Albert, all of Plattsburgh, Christine Trombley and her husband George, Janine Giroux and her husband Eugene, all of West Chazy, and Ellen Giroux and her husband Raymond of Dubuque, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Edward Desautels and leaves Edwards wife, Joann Gerrish. A private family service is planned in Maynard, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Albin AmeralPort Richey, Fla. — Albin "Al" Ameral Jr. died at his home in Port Richey, Fla., on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, after a long illness. He will be buried at the Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., on Friday. Al retired from Anchor Motor Freight after 33 years. He and his wife moved from Peru, N.Y., to Port Richey, Fla., in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Port Richey, Fla.; daughters, Joan (Scott) Hulett of Wakefield, Mass.; Jacqueline McGee of Bowie, Md.; Justine Ameral of Bowie, Md.; and son, Gerald (Roxanne) Ameral of Newsoms, Va. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Family requests donations in lieu of flowers, to Hernando-Pasco Hospice at 12107 Majestic Blvd, Hudson, FL 34667. Gary M. MoorePlattsburgh — Gary M. Moore, 54, of Cogan Avenue, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on Oct. 31, 1950, to Francis F. (Bud) and Ruth M. (Goldie) Moore. Gary was a graduate of St. John’s Academy in Plattsburgh and the Albany College of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of New York State, the American Pharmacists Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association. Gary had previously been employed at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh where he served as the Director of Pharmacy. He was currently serving as a partner and pharmacist at Condo Pharmacy in Plattsburgh. Gary is survived by his wife, Jean M. Moore of Plattsburgh; two sons, Steven F. Moore and David M. Moore of Plattsburgh; his parents, Francis F. and Ruth M. Moore of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Mary Catherine Stewart and her husband Thomas of Brentwood, Tenn., their children, Emily, Adam, and Lauren, Mary Anne Carter and her husband Timothy of Plattsburgh, their children, Jenelle and Sarah, Lisa Kelleher and her husband Patrick of Plattsburgh, their children, Kaleen, Kelsey and Ean; a brother, John P. Moore of Somerville, N.J.; several cousins; among them Mary Forbes of West Plattsburgh; and several aunts and uncles. Additionally Gary is survived by his mother-in-law, Anna K. Kovaric of Schenectady; his sister-in-law, Susan Boel and her husband Jim of Schenectady; two nieces, Teresa Eichlin and her husband Edwin of Clifton Park, and their son, Zachary, Colleen Myers and her husband, Randall of Schenectady, and their son Kenny. Gary was predeceased by his brother, Robert F. Moore; and his father-in-law, Frank J. Kovaric. Calling hours will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 7. p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year at St. Alexander’s Cemetery in Morrisonville. Gay Elizabeth RandallLake Placid — Gay Elizabeth (Taylor) Randall, 64, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Born March 6, 1940, in Lake Placid, she was the daughter of the late Milton A. and Bernice (Lawrence) Taylor. On Nov. 22, 1963, she married Craig H. Randall in Lake Placid. The marriage later dissolved. Gay was a lifelong resident of Lake Placid and a graduate of Lake Placid High School class of 1960, and was a member of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid. As a young woman she worked for several years at the Grand Union. She later owned and operated the Northway Motel in Lake Placid, with her ex-husband in the late 1970s and 1980s. An excellent and talented seamstress, she owned and operated the Fabric Wheel in Lake Placid, where she shared her many sewing talents with many area residents. She particularly enjoyed quilting. The last several years she had been an innkeeper of the Spruce Lodge while working for the Adirondack Trading Company in Lake Placid. Gay was a fan of country music and line dancing. She also enjoyed reading and walking, especially the loop around Mirror Lake. An avid animal lover, Gay treasured the wonderful companionship of many dogs and cats over her lifetime. A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by her son, Jonathan Craig Randall and his wife Julie of Fargo, N.D.; and her daughter, Jan Elizabeth Randall of Weehawken, N.J. She was a proud and doting grandmother to her two grandsons, Tighan Harrison, five, and Caslan Jonathan, three, of Fargo, N.D. She is also survived by two sisters, Hilda Moquin of Lake Placid and Arizona and Muriel Sessions of Norwood, N.Y.; and a brother, (Maurice) Gene Taylor of Lake Placid. Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with many dear friends and coworkers. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. The family requests donations in her memory be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society, 33 Algonquin Ave., Saranac Lake, NY 12983 Joanne Susan BombardHEMMINGFORD, QUEBEC — Joanne Susan Bombard, 71, a lifelong resident of Hemmingford, passed away Jan. 24, 2005, at the Florence Groulx Residence, after a long illness. She is survived by her children, Patrisha, Nancy, Frederick, Susan and Geanne; two grandchildren, Monica and Sarah; her brothers, George Bombard of Long Island and Samuel Laventure; her aunt, Mrs. Mary Hogle of Mooers, N.Y.; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Furtenbaker; and her second husband, Harvey Hebert. Also predeceased by her mother, Isabel Kingsburry Bombard; her father, George W. Bombard; and her brother, Gary Lee Bombard. Calling hours will be held at JM Sharpe Funeral Home, 461 Champlain, Hemmingford, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel at the funeral home |
