Published: 01/15/05Ethel M. TrombleyPlattsburgh — Ethel M. Trombley, 80, of South Peru Street, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona on Nov. 10, 1924, daughter of George and Corinna (Burl) Gebo. Ethel was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh where she had worked at the thrift store. She and her husband Edward owned and operated Trombley's Trailer Court on South Peru Street. Ethel enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, crafts and cooking. Ethel is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Candyce Trombley of Peru, John and Cindy Trombley of Beekmantown, Peter and Sandra Trombley of Keeseville and Kevin and Jo Ann Trombley of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Ellen Bouchard and her husband Claude of Plattsburgh; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Jane Gebo of Florida; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by two half brothers, Lawrence LaMountain and Raymond LaMountain; a sister, Eilene Garrant; a brother, Reginald George Gebo; a son, Danny Trombley; and her husband, Edward A. Trombley. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Friends wishing may make donations to Make-A-Wish or Our Lady of Victory Church. Fred GadwayMooers Forks — Fred Gadway, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2005, at his life long home. He was born May 5, 1917, in Mooers Forks, to Mose and Melvina (Brassard) Gadway. Fred and his wife Lillian devoted their lives to operating a successful dairy farm until their retirement. Fred had a great love of the outdoors and all animals. He enjoyed keeping up with current events in news and sports and delighted in visits from friends and family. Survivors include his half sister, Ellen Decosse of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Gadway of Mooers Forks, Theresa Gadway of Witherbee, N.Y., and Mary Gadway of Ormand Beach, Fla.; he is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. His wife of 41 years, Lillian E. (McComb) Gadway, died July 18, 1987. He is also predeceased by his brothers, William, Arthur and Gilbert; his sisters, Edith Noe, Eva Latourneau and Irene Cenci; his half brothers, Alfred, Amada, Joseph and Edward; his half sisters, Nettie Rabideau, Minnie Bobbie, Mary Girard and Bertha DeCoste. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. from the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot with the Rev. Megan Stowe presiding. Burial will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot. A reception will follow the committal services at the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Mooers Fire Department/Rescue Squad. Garry H. Gonya Sr.PLATTSBURGH — Garry H. Gonya Sr., 54, of Flynn Avenue and formerly of Cook Street, Dannemora, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 16, 1950, the son of Stanley I. and Audrey (Anderson) Gonya Jr. Garry married Rosemary Parent in Chazy on Aug. 28, 1971. Rosemary died Feb. 14, 1995. He enjoyed bike riding, fishing, hiking and picking all different kinds of berries. Garry had a great love of the outdoors. Survivors include one son, Garry H. and Lori Gonya Jr. of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Mechelle Hart and her companion Roger of Mooers Forks and Diana and Tim Johnson of Plattsburgh; one brother, Larnie Gonya of Plattsburgh; eight sisters, Ellen and Joe Bruno of Schuyler Falls, Diana Gonya of Plattsburgh, Kathleen Covel of Plattsburgh, Zana Furnia of Peesleville, Janet Wood of Plattsburgh, Jeannie Buskey and her companion Christopher Kelly of Plattsburgh, Robin and Thomas LaSalle of Saranac and Tammy Gonya of Plattsburgh; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery in Morrisonville in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Nursing Home. Mark Joseph MichalakTiconderoga — Mark Joseph Michalak, 46, of Lake George Avenue, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the Glen Falls Hospital. He was born in Ticonderoga on Nov. 22, 1958, the son the late Buster and Yvonne (Grogan) Michalak. Mr. Michalak was a life long Ticonderoga resident. He was a well known coach for youth basketball and baseball for many years in Ticonderoga. In addition to coaching basketball at St. Mary’s School, Mark was a Little League coach in Ticonderoga at every level, including minor league, little league, senior league and All Stars. He won many championship titles and was considered a coach and friend to all players in the program. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Robin (Johns) Michalak; three sons, Chris Michalak, Alex Michalak and Zachary Michalak; and three daughters, Maura Michalak, Meg Michalak and Brenna Michalak, all of Ticonderoga; two brothers, Joe Michalak and his wife Diana of Ticonderoga and Ed Michalak and his wife Linda of Queensbury; three sisters, Marie Brooking and her husband Gary of Ft. Ann, Sue Michalak of Ft. Ann and Mary Michalak and her companion Joe of Lake Luzerne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ticonderoga, in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s memory to the Glen Falls Hospital, 3 West Oncology, Glens Falls, NY 13650. Lawrence Smith of the Sears Road, Ellenburg Center, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at his home, under the care of his loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Carson, 73, of 53 Lakeshore Rd., Willsboro, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. He was born May 25, 1931, in Whallonsburg, N.Y., the son of Ben and Mary Carson. Rosemary Sweet, 70, of Lake Shore Road, Chazy Landing, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Rutland, Vt., on Feb. 18, 1934, the daughter of Frank and Biasina (Sestito) Wiggin. Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Sylvia La Pierre, 89, of LaPierre Lane in Morrisonville, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Morrisonville, N.Y., on Dec. 26, 1915, the daughter of Oral and Dora (Dashnaw) Breyette. Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Verlie N. Harrison, 81, of Flynn Avenue in Plattsburgh, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
