Cecelia Anne Dashnaw

Ogdensburg — Cecelia Anne Dashnaw, 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the Cedar Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.

She was born in Alderbrook, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 1925, the daughter of the late James P. and Margaret (Hafford) Gregory.

She is survived by one son, Thomas; one sister, Ethel Tummel of North Babylon, N.Y.; six nieces, Deanne Boyer of Flushing, N.Y., Jeanne Rader of Arizona, Judith VanArman of Chazy, N.Y., Lynn Mulholland of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Bonnie Favreau of Sciota and Susan Dahlin of West Islip, N.Y.; four nephews, Gary Boyer of Ferndale, N.Y., James VanArman of Morrisonville, N.Y., Kurt Tummel Jr. of West Islip, N.Y. and Randy Turnmel of North Babylon, N.Y.; and many great nieces and nephews.

She predeceased one son, Gregory; three sisters, Veronica Gregory, Isabelle Boyer and Sabina VanArman; and a nephew, Kevin Tummel.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later this spring in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg; St. Joseph’s Shrine in Montreal; or Cedar Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.

Brenda L. LaFountain

PLATTSBURGH — Brenda L. LaFountain, 43, of Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 3, 1961, the daughter of Raymond and Rose (Trombley) Blanchard.

Brenda married Larry LaFountain on March 15, 1985. Larry died Jan. 25, 2004.

Mrs. LaFountain worked for Print Pad LTD.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlana LaFountain of Plattsburgh; four brothers, Richard Blanchard and his companion Linda Akey of Plattsburgh, Raymond Blanchard Jr. of South Carolina, Edward Blanchard and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh and Robert Blanchard of Champlain; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Provost of Plattsburgh; one niece, Brenda Martin; and two nephews, Roger Garrow and Carl Martin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; and one sister-in-law, Dianne Blanchard.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh with the funeral to follow.

Donations may be made to the family.

Alfred M. Eaton

Plattsburgh — Alfred M. Eaton, 48, of Route 22N, Plattsburgh, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Hartford, Conn., Aug. 15, 1956, the son of Alfred R. Eaton and the late Helen (Maloney) Eaton.

Al worked for Warren Tire in Plattsburgh for several years. Prior to that he was employed at Bill McBride Chevrolet in Plattsburgh. He was a member of the Adirondack Riders Motorcycle Club. Along with motorcycling, he also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his companion, Anne Marie Ziros of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Tabatha Eaton of Wilmington and Jamie Liberty of Peru; two sons, Harley Eaton and his companion Samantha Brow and their son, Joshua Eaton, all of AuSable Forks and Lance Eaton of Peru; close friend, Cheryl Liberty of Peru; his father, Alfred Eaton and companion Marie of Conn.; his grandmother of Camden, Maine; three sisters, Nancy of Georgia., Pam and Sandy both of Connecticut.; several nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Simba and Obsidian.

He was predeceased by his mother.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A prayer service will follow at 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Jerry B. Huttlinger Sr.

Lake Placid — John B. "Jerry" Huttlinger Sr., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Adirondack Medical Center due to complications from a heart attack. He died one day before his 82nd birthday. He resided on Saranac Avenue in Lake Placid, which had been his home for 52 years.

Jerry was raised in New Rochelle, N.Y., and New York City.

He attended Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, the University of Michigan, and New York University, where he majored in accounting.

He was the youngest son of Carl F. and Retta (Burns) Huttlinger.

He began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and Company in New York City. He left the firm to move to lake Placid, where his family had been summer residents at the Lake Placid Club since 1935. In Lake Placid, he met Anne Lewis, and they were married at St. Agnes Church on Oct. 7, 1950, by the Rev. Michael Kelly. They both loved the beautiful Adirondack region and decided at that time to make Lake Placid their home.

Jerry opened a public accounting practice in Lake Placid and he taught mathematics and shop at Northwood School. The Huttlingers also operated a tourist cottage business for several years at the Saranac Avenue residence that they purchased in 1953. In 1967, Jerry and Anne purchased the Adirondack Audit Company public accounting firm in Saranac Lake. Jerry remained active in the business until recently. He was devoted to the business and gained a lot of satisfaction from maintaining precise books and records for his clients. He also enjoyed preparing tax returns and negotiating with various tax authorities on behalf of his clients.

Jerry developed a love of classical music early in life by listening to recordings and performances by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Classical music was always playing at the office and at home. He was also an avid football fan. His weekends during the fall were always planned around the schedules of the Michigan Wolverines and the New York Giants. He was not pleased with the outcome of the 2005 Rose Bowl.

Jerry’s many interests included traveling, fine food, photography, model trains and tropical fish.

His happiest times were family gatherings, he delighted in the company of his wife and children. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing experiences with Anne. They traveled frequently and had many memorable trips throughout New England and Eastern Canada.

Anne predeceased Jerry on Jan. 19, 2004.

Jerry is survived by his two sons, John B. Huttlinger Jr. of Lake Placid and James M. Huttlinger of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Retta Huttlinger of Starksboro, Vt., and Tierney Beck of Bennington, Vt.; and three grandchildren, Katie and Lauren Beck of Bennington, Vt., and John B. Huttlinger III of Lake Placid.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid and will be celebrated by the Rev. J. Michael Gaffney of St. Agnes Church and concelebrated by the Rev. Philip T. Allen of Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.

The family suggests friends wishing to remember Jerry make donations in his memory to St. Agnes Church, Hillcrest Avenue, Lake Placid NY 12946.

George F. Stangrover Jr., 77, of Pleasant Street, Peru, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Cowlesville, Dec. 15, 1927, the son of George F. Sr. and Frances (Vining) Stangrover.

Arrangements were incomplete Wednesday evening and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Mildred F. Maheu, 94, of Prospect Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Syracuse on July 16, 1910, the daughter of John and Gertrude (French) Stoughton.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, as of Wednesday evening.

Elizabeth A. Lancto, 74, of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at that facility.

Born July 23, 1930, in Malone, N.Y., she was the daughter of Edward and Dora (LaBrake) Gokey.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Spring burial will take place in St. John Bosco Cemetery.
