Peter A. Porter

MOUNTAIN HOME, IDAHO — Peter A. Porter, 48, of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at his home in Mountain Home, after a long courageous battle with cancer, with his wife and his mother, Suk and Joyce by his side. Peter was born on Sept. 28, 1956, in Saranac Lake, N.Y., son of Sherwin "Bud" and Joyce (Terry) Porter.

Peter was educated in Saranac. After graduation, Peter joined the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, he was stationed in Osan, Korea, Spokane, Wash., Minot, N.D., and Mountain Home, Idaho. After 21 years in the Air Force, Peter retired as a master sergeant and decided to settle in Mountain Home. Peter went to work at the Idaho States Correctional Institution and was a food service supervisor for over seven years. Peter and his wife Suk enjoyed hunting and fishing, as they both loved being together in the outdoors. Peter will be missed by all that knew him.

Peter leaves behind his wife, Suk of Mountain Home, Idaho; his mother, Joyce Porter of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Keith Porter and his wife Cindy of Morrisonville and Kevin Porter and his wife Stephanie of Peaseleeville; one nephew and five nieces.

Peter was predeceased by his father and both sets of grandparents.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, from St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. A reception will follow at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on the Spellman Road.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis.

Carroll B. "Bud" Leggett

Tonasket, WASH. — Carroll B. "Bud" Leggett, 79, died Dec. 2, 2004, following a long illness.

Mr. Leggett was born on July 8, 1925, in Passaic, N.J., the son of the late Harry and Mabel (Snow) Leggett. Mr. Leggett was raised in AuSable Forks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dealey Ann; eight loving children; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan of Albany, N.Y., and Wilmington and Ruth of AuSable Forks.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph and Harry; and his sister, Helen.

Mr. Leggett graduated from AuSable Central School in 1942. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a radio operator in the European Theater during World War II.

After completing his military service, he attended Champlain College in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and later graduated from the University of Denver in 1952. It was there he met and married his loving wife, Dealey Ann. After briefly living and working in Saranac Lake, the couple moved to Washington State.

Mr. Leggett was a 30-year employee of the U.S. Forest Service, working as an engineer based at the Tonasket, Wash., station in the Cascade mountain range. Doing what he loved, working outdoors, he served well past retirement age.

A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Leggett is remembered for his love of his family and nature including hiking, birds and fly fishing.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer in Tonasket, Wash.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes.

Shirley M. Coryea, 74, of the Franklin County Nursing Home, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at that facility.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1930, in Malone, N.Y., the daughter of Leon and Hattie (Rivers) Lamica.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. John Bosco Church.

Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc.

Alexander "Al" Landry, 73, of White Street, Chateaugay, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Malone, N.Y., on Nov. 18, 1931, the son of George and Dora (Harvey) Landry.

Arrangements are incomplete through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
