Published: 12/27/04Dale T. KlineLYON MOUNTAIN — Dale T. Kline, 64, of Third Street, Lyon Mountain, died Dec. 23, 2004, at his home. Born Jan. 20, 1940, in Lyon Mountain, he was the son of Roland and Laura (Bowden) Kline. Mr. Kline graduated from Lyon Mountain High School and served in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged in August 1959. He was employed for General Dynamics at local missile sites. He was a member of Labor Union Local 186. He was also employed at one time for the Town of Dannemora and Clinton County Landfill until he became disabled in the 1980s. Mr. Kline was an avid baseball fan and played baseball for Lyon Mountain High School and later was a member of Lyon Mountain Miners baseball team. He was an animal lover. He was a member of Lyon Mountain American Legion Sorrell Post, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of AARP. Survivors include: a sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and Alex Kourofsky of Lyon Mountain; an uncle and two aunts, William and Lorraine Kline of Lyon Mountain, and Connie Kline; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Mancini; and a brother, Robert Kline. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place in Lyon Mountain Protestant Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home. Sandra C. DiaboCROWN POINT — Sandra C. Diabo, 65, of 605 Hogback Road, Crown Point, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer at her home. Born in Moriah on Dec. 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Truman R. and Elfrieda E. Martin. She was employed at Porter Hospital in Middlebury, Vt., as a phlebotomist. Sandy was previously employed at laboratories in Saratoga Springs and Ticonderoga. Sandy loved family, friends and the outdoors. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, hunting, fishing, swimming, camping and black-powder shoots. Survivors include her daughter, Kim M. Dresser, and grandson, Joseph D. Salvato of Schuylerville; her sister and husband, Sharon L. and John H. Thorpe of DeBary, Fla.; her brother and wife, Gregory D. and Sharon L. Martin of Crown Point; her companion of 10 years, Edwin C. Tuthill of Crown Point; and several nieces and nephews. Robert Miles Thompson Sr.TICONDEROGA — Robert Miles Thompson Sr., 82, of Warner Hill Road, passed away at his home on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ticonderoga, Dec. 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Harvey E. and Sarah (Higgins) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II as a medic and was the recipient of two bronze star awards. He was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School. He was employed by International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years and was a member of the Company’s Quarter Century Club. Mr. Thompson was very active in the Ticonderoga community. He was involved in Ticonderoga Little League for many years. He was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks # 1494, and the American Legion Post # 224, both of Ticonderoga. He was a founding member of the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union and served as the first president. Mr. Thompson was an avid sportsman and enjoyed auto racing and restoring old cars. He was also an avid bowler and pilot. He was a charter member of the Ticonderoga Flying Club. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Florence Cross Thompson on March 9, 1997. They were married on May 23, 1942. He is survived by his four children, Linda D. Thompson of Saratoga Springs, Robert M. Thompson Jr. of Ticonderoga, Richard R. Thompson and his wife Barbara of Prescott, Arizona, and Theresa C. Hollen and her husband Michael of Ticonderoga; and one sister, Gladys McCarthy of South Hartford. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The Ticonderoga Elks will conduct a ritualist service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday evening. An American Legion Service will immediately follow. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. Interment will be at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga in the spring. Leo W. LaMarPERU — Leo W. LaMar, 94, of Pleasant Street, Peru, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh He was born in Dannemora, Aug 7, 1910, the son of Abraham and Ida (Rivers) LaMar.He worked for 39 years at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh prior to retirement. Leo was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. He was a member of the Peru Knights of Columbus and Dad’s of Foreign Service Veterans Post 244, Herkimer.He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Leo was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Phoebe M. (Parrish) LaMar of Peru, whom he married Oct. 17, 1933 at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James Bola of Clintonville, Millie and Ronald Sears of Cadyville, Theresa and James Collins of Peasleeville, Bonny and James Devan of Peru, and Linda and Gary Hamel of Peru; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Carol of South Carolina, and John and Donna LaMar of Peru; two sisters, Hazel Rabideau of Plattsburgh and Gertrude LaMar of Peru; a daughter-in-law, Nancy LaMar of Peru; two brothers-in-law, Leslie Ginett and Raymond Parish, both of Plattsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Parrish of Plattsburgh, and Esther Parrish of Morrisonville; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Adrian and Donald; two brothers, Leonard and Arthur; and four sisters, Valerie Ginett, Laura Taylor, Cecilia LaMar, and Ruth LaMar. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Monday, at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru with the Rev. Gilbert B. Menard, retired, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad or the family. MILDRED B. BROWN, 83, of Franklin Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at her home. Born in Lyon Mountain on April 11, 1921, she was the daughter of Leander and Minnie (Patnode) Begor. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Shumway, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Bloomingdale, officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Vermontville in May. ROBERT H. KAMPF, 85, of 17 Old Ray Brook Road, Ray Brook, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born in Brooklyn on Nov. 15, 1919, he was the son of Henry and Elsa (Bergren) Kampf. Calling hours will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid in May. LILLIAN BLANCHE KENNEDY, 78, of Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004. She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Frederick J. and Alice Elsie (White) LaFountain. Calling hours will be held at the Richer Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake. HAROLD A. CHILDS, 95, of 8 Fourth St., Malone, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. Born in Owls Head on April 13, 1909, he was the son of the late Almanzo and Minnie Kelly Childs. Calling hours will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring. JOHANNE BOEHM, 93, of River Road, Peru, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Dornburg, Germany, on June 12, 1911, the daughter of Otto and Hedwig (Wambach) Christ. A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday at the Peru Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Svenson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in God’s Acre Cemetery in Peru. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. ANA MARINO, 84, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Puerto Rico on Sept. 7, 1920, the daughter of Agustin and Basilia (Laracuente) Marino. Ana is survived by one daughter and one son, Lydia Puig of Peru and Jose Puig of Gettysburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Israel Rodriguez of Plano, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Floyd Bleaux, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church, officiating. Burial will be in the spring of 2005 in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru. |
