Peter A. Porter

MOUNTAIN HOME, IDAHO — Peter A. Porter, 48, of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at his home in Mountain Home, after a long courageous battle with cancer, with his wife Suk and his mother Joyce by his side.

Peter was born on Sept. 28, 1956, in Saranac Lake, N.Y., to Sherwin (Bud) and Joyce Porter. Peter was educated in Saranac Lake, N.Y. After graduation, Peter joined the U.S. Air Force.

While in the Air Force, he was stationed in Osan, Korea, Spokane, Wash., Minot, N.D., and Mountain Home, Idaho.

After 21 years in the Air Force, Peter retired as a master sergeant and decided to settle in Mountain Home. Peter went to work at the Idaho States Correctional Institution and was a food service supervisor for over seven years. Peter and his wife Suk enjoyed hunting and fishing, as they both loved being together in the outdoors. Peter will be missed by all that knew him.

Peter leaves behind his wife, Suk of Mountain Home; his mother, Joyce Porter; and two brothers, Keith and Kevin, all of New York.

He was preceded in death by his father and both sets of grandparents.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mountain Home.

A memorial will be held in Saranac Lake at a later date.

Cremation under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home, Idaho.

Memorials may be made in Peter's name to the Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis, c/o Mountain State Tumor Institute, 151 East Bannock, Boise ID 83712.

John D. McLennan

PERU - John D. McLennan, 57, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Hospital.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Jan. 1, 1947, the son of E.S. (Mac) and Alice (Atwood) McLennan.

He graduated from Peru Central School in 1967. He worked at CVPH and SUNY Plattsburgh in the maintenance department.

Survivors include Janet Collins of Clayton, N.Y., Roderick McLennan of Peru, N.Y., Mary Meade and her husband Ted of Pensacola, Fla., and David McLennan and his wife Pennye of Jay, Okla.

There will be no calling hours. The funeral will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring.

Arrangements are in care of Steven C. Gregory Cremation Services of Shelburne, Vt.

In lien of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, 43 Durkee St., Suite 200, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Linda D. Beshaw, 75, of Massena and formerly of Ellenburg, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg Depot on July 2, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Marion (Drown) Danforth.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. from the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.

Robert A. Whitney, 76, of Cascade Acres, Lake Placid, died Dec. 17, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Lake Placid on Feb. 28, 1928, the son of Lynn and Gertrude (Peck) Whitney.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Fireman’s Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Andrea Sears officiating.
