Published: 12/13/04Gladys L. DevereauxPLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Gladys L. Devereaux, 98, of Wildwood Estates, died on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at the Meadowbrook HealthCare Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Schenectady on Nov. 26, 1906. Gladys, with her first husband, Ronald Fuller, managed the Cumberland Hotel in Plattsburgh and later owned the Lake Placid Inn. She also was employed at the Lake Placid Club. Gladys was a member of the Ladies of the Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621 and St. John’s Church. She enjoyed a long, healthy life entertaining family and friends and wintering in Florida. Gladys was an avid bridge player and enjoyed needlepoint. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Martha Lappan, and her first husband, Ronald Fuller. She is survived by her husband, Maurice W. Devereaux of Plattsburgh, whom she married June 4, 1957; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Fuller of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, Kathy Vogt and her husband, James, of Arlington, Va.; Deborah Gordon-Linney and her husband, John; Stephen Fuller and his wife, Patti; Cynthia Fregeau and her husband, Steven; David Fuller and his wife, Dorothy; Ronald M. Fuller III and his wife, Stacey, all of Plattsburgh; two stepsons and their wives; Alan and Ann Devereaux of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; William and Gail Devereaux of Springfield, Vt.; 12 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Diane and Barbara. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. from St. John’s Church. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends wishing may have Masses said in her memory. Ricky E. SavageSchenectady — Ricky E. Savage, 48, of Schenectady, passed into the Lord’s hands on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004. Rick was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., and has lived in the Schenectady area most of his life. For many years, Rick worked as a certified nursing aide. He worked at several facilities and was last employed at Sunny View Hospital. Rick was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Niskayuna. He was predeceased by his parents, the late George T. and Valida (Hemingway) Savage; and two sisters, Kathy Savage and Amy Lynn Savage. Survivors include his stepmother, Muriel Savage of Witherbee, N.Y.; four sons, Ricky Savage Jr., Wayne Savage, Christopher Savage and Leland Savage, all of Schenectady; three daughters, Erika Lyons, Tanya Savage and Ciara Savage, all of Schenectady; four brothers, George Savage and his wife Donna, Gary Savage and his wife Gail, Tim Hall and his wife Kim, all of Schenectady and Ted Savage of Witherbee, N.Y.; two sisters, Starr DeAngelo and her husband Don of Rotterdam and Lucy Marx and her companion Dan White of Westport, N.Y.; two stepsons, Jimmy Graves and Allen Graves and a stepdaughter, Shelly Graves, all of Schenectady. Four grandchildren, Ricky Savage III, Kaleen Morehouse, Destiny Graves and Jovan Savage; and several nieces and nephews also survive Ricky. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at noon at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2635 Balltown Rd., Niskayuna, NY 12309. CHARLOTTE "CHAR" SMITH, 53, of Mill Street, Burke, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. Born in Montour Falls, N.Y., on July 2, 1951, she was the daughter of Charles and Geraldine (Lum) Moore. Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow in the Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Derek Trudell of Burke United Methodist Church officiating. A reception will follow at the Burke Fire Station. Burial will take place in the spring in Ridgeway Cemetery in Burke. Donations in her memory may be made to the Burke Fire Department, Burke Fire Department Auxiliary or Hospice of the North Country.
