Anthony E. Linck

PLATTSBURGH — Anthony E. (Tony) Linck, 85, of 8 Bushey Boulevard, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was born in Constableville, N.Y., on Jan. 28, 1919, the son of Anthony A. and Clara J. (Schwenk) Linck.

Tony married Agnes Marie Denicore on April 10, 1950, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Marie died March 18, 2004.

Two great loves of his life were flying and photography. He took his first flying lesson in 1939 and subsequently owned several planes including a Swift, a Mooney and a Mooney Super 21 which bore the registration N900TL (for Tony Linck). He held a commercial pilot's license, an instrument rating, a multi-engine rating and a glider ticket. Tony was a Life Magazine staff photographer from 1945 through 1954 during which time his assignments included an assignment to the European Theater toward the end of World War II and a month in South America photographing the length of the Amazon River in color from it's source in the Andes. He left Life Magazine to become a freelance photographer specializing mainly in aircraft and industrial photography. He had more than 100 covers on flying magazines and covered many shuttle launches at Cape Canaveral for Time, Inc. His favorite shot was one showing the towers of Manhattan pushing up above the soft, gray billowing mist.

Survivors include one sister, Isabella Linck of Lowville; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Shirley Linck of Boonville, N.Y., and their daughter, Valerie; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Denicore Kelly of Plattsburgh; and two special friends, James Holahan of Saddle River, N.J., and Rob Mathewson of Leonia, N.J.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marie; his parents; and a sister, Elizabeth Hoag.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Janet Converse

Highland Beach, Fla. — Janet Converse, 87, of Highland Beach, Fla., passed away on Dec. 4, 2004.

She is survived by daughters, Madge Ladue, Susan Angell (Eric) and Christine Converse (Peter Repas); and son, Charles Converse, MD. (Martha). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services to be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2004, at St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Highland Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or for Father John’s work with migrant children to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1200 E. Main Street, Pahokee, FL 33476.

Carmelia Caraco

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. — Mrs. Carmelia (Millie) Caraco, 88, of Montgomery Street, Johnstown, N.Y., passed away Sunday at her son's home in the town of Mayfield, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 25, 1916, in Johnstown, a daughter of Carmelo and Francesca Consiglio Siligato.

She graduated from Johnstown High School. She was employed for many years as a glove maker by Conroy Glove Company in Johnstown.

She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, the Alter Rosary Society of the church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Shirley Luck Senior Center of Johnstown.

Millie was known to her family as its matriarch.

She was married to Salvatore Caraco on Jan. 25, 1948, he passed away on Nov. 15, 1972.

Survivors include children, Joseph (Ginny) Caraco of Camden, S.C., Carmen (Michelle) Caraco of Mayfield, Roseann (Bill) Doran of Broadalbin, Salvatore (Cherene) Caraco of Keeseville, N.Y., and Francis (Elizabeth) Caraco of Johnstown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kelli (Paul) Piazza of Travis Air Force in California, Michael (Mary Ann) Caraco of N. Bennington, Vt., Jon Caraco of Mayfield, Amy-Beth Caraco of Gloversville, Jeffrey Caraco of Northville, Adam Caraco of Mayfield, Chelsea Caraco of Mayfield, Donald Caraco of Pennsylvania, Catherine Caraco of Johnstown, Miranda Metz of Pennsylvania, Joseph Doran of Broadalbin, Emily Doran of Broadalbin, Kylie Caraco of Gloversville and Brooke Caraco of Gloversville; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Piazza and Claire Piazza of California and Christian Caraco of N. Bennington, Vt.; nieces and nephews; cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. James Fitzmaurice, pastor, as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Ivan Angelo Monette, one month and ten days old, of Bridge Street, Plattsburgh, died on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 26, 2004, son of Aaron S. Monette and Anmare S. Catalan.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Yonkovig, pastor of St. Peter's Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
